While the rollout of a number of different #Covid #vaccines has been welcomed across the #world, the #WHO-led scheme to deliver vaccines to #poorercountries faces a “very high” risk of failure according to internal documents seen by #Reuters. This could mean billions of people will be without access to #Covidvaccines until as late as 2024. “The risk of a failure to establish a successful #Covax Facility is very high,” says an internal report to the board of Gavi, an alliance of governments, drug companies, charities and international organisations that arranges global #vaccination campaigns. The scheme’s promoters say the programme is struggling from a lack of funds, supply risks and complex contractual arrangements which could make it impossible to achieve its goals. Follow the link in bio to read more about the challenges the scheme faces and how it plans to overcome them. #coronavirusvaccine #covid19pandemic #pandemics #corona #covidnews #coronavirusnews #world #poorcountry #healthissues #health #healthnews #globalhealth https://www.instagram.com/p/CI5yI8thQYR/?igshid=vlm02ol6b07p

Top French #virologist #DidierRaoult says first-world nations were too slow to act against #Covid-19, and have been outdone in their response by #poorercountries. #Raoult believes the high death rates in developed countries show there is 'a disconnect between #wealth and the ability to respond to situations of this kind.' He said some of the success may be because poor countries 'chose to treat [Covid-19] like #pneumonia with common drugs that cost nothing’. The virologist also supports anti-malaria drug #hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for #coronavirus, which is controversial, because it’s not proven to be effective. ⁣ ⁣#didierraoultvscoronavirus #french #doctorsandnurses #coronavirusdeaths #coronavirusnews #france🇫🇷 #america #India #CoronavirusUpdates #Covid19 https://www.instagram.com/p/B_XPxahBu_k/?igshid=133bqer46wlmu
