what if I made like a really long post cataloguing the potions and creatures/plants with special effects in totk, what then. what if I made a powerpoint about it, what if I made one of those fucking ancient manuscripts with hand drawn images (even though I can't draw plants or animals), what if I bullshitted an entire textbook on fictional nature magic, what if I made homework about it

What was dollarstores birth like?
It ended up being a c-section one month before the expected birth date. they were a bit larger than expected so it had to be done to save spamton and ds from serious complications. the plan was never a natural birth anyway.

I am insanely in Love with this drawing. Tumblr likes to botch the resolution tho, so if you want to see it in its full glory please click it (or open it in another tab, that also works)

Do I put together a silly little powerpoint for tomorrow? I'm considering it. I'd make it my "debut" stream hehe.

it's been a hot minute since i've played botw or totk, but isn't it a Thing with potions that using multiple different ingredients makes the potion stronger? this might be entirely made up from me but i feel like my potions always had stronger effects when using different components together (ie. firefly + river snail + stealthfin + monster parts being better than something like river snail x3 + monster parts).
in relation to your last post, with different components strengthening parts of the body differently, would making a potion with the right balance of multiple ingredients be more effective overall compared to one with fewer ingredients? Would having too many different ingredients influence the stability of the potion's effects? please i love overthinking the botw food/potion system it's so fun
(also i would love to see the powerpoint, pls share with us when/if you finish it <3)
I think certain ingredients are inherently stronger than others, so it's more effective to have a lot of one strong thing than several different things, at least as far as I'm aware of. I feel like there's a specific algorithm involved in the game's code that no one has unraveled yet.
I've done at least one experiment where I cooked five of one ingredient with the same boost (the ones that don't turn to dubious food immediately) to see if each one had different results and they did! Mostly. Cooking five silent princesses at a time has the same healing and effect as cooking five stealthfin trout at a time, ten hearts of healing and ten minutes of maximum stealth boost. But five sprigs of nightshade gives you no hearts and ten minutes of level one stealth effect. Still, the number of strong ingredients seems to matter more than the diversity of ingredients.
But that doesn't mean the idea isn't interesting to work with, I think some mixtures are stronger than others and some just don't mix well at all. To make a balanced defensive elixir would be a daunting task and take a lot of experimentation (and a whole lotta bugs).
There are also some ingredients that have similar effects and explanations for their effects but result in different elixirs. Like speed and stamina have a lot of overlap, mostly focusing on giving the user energy, it just manifests in different ways, endurance run vs a sprint..
We can also consider how botw/totk only allows you to have one potion effect at a time (excluding heart and stamina recovery), is this because the magical effects contradict each other or because the body can't handle too many things happening to it? Would it stress the body out too much to be influenced by different kinds of magic at the same time? at least internally? Maybe if the effect is minor enough, they can overlap, at least if the cocktail is balanced right.
In general potion-making is based on a few things, the amount of Creatures directly influences how strong the potion is, while the monster part/ addition of dragon part, effects how long it will last. Three sticky frogs has the same strength as two sticky frogs and a sticky lizard, and a chuchu jelly adds the same amount of time as a bokoblin horn. But a dragon tooth adds ten minutes and thirty seconds.
Anyway, back to the ask, the mixtures can be complicated. Some ingredients have the exact same effect for the same reason, it's the bioluminescent compound in the silent shrooms, the stealthfin trout, the sunset firefly, and likely the silent princess and the blue nightshade that cause it's effects, even if they might be slightly different. But other mixtures may not mix as well. The energy from stamina recovery and speed boosts and electric resistance are vastly different even in materials with compatible effects. Most mixtures of compatible ingredients just don't end up as strong in the worst-case scenario; it just gets dangerous when the ingredients are not part of the same boost category. Best case is that it ends up as a dubious food that just tastes bad, we don't want to know the worst case is though...
