I'm going to sound like a conspiracy theorist but bare with me
every Nigerian president that has step foot into office is a fucking puppet of the UK. oh their smart don't get me wrong but everything they do benefits the UK and lines their (that is the presidents) pocket!
why is 100 naira on the verge of being useless? once upon a time (I'm talking about 2022) I could walk into a store a get a small loaf of bread and a pepsi! not the healthiest but that shit keeps you full for four hours at least. heck in 2017 you could get a full plate of rice and stew with fried beef/fish from a "mama-put" but now in the year 2024 a 100 naira isn't even getting you a loaf of bread!!! what the fuck is happening in our country? where's all the money?
no one can afford to eat, health care is fucking expensive, insurance isn't accessible to everyone, there's a housing crisis even though houses are being built everywhere, public infrastructure is depleting, more than half the fucking population is living below the poverty line, public school education is shit, the private schools are kicking prices to the sky (2021-2022 academic school year my parents paid 1.7million naira in fees. if I was still in Nigeria, I'd be paying 2.5million but the quality of education hasn't changed!!!), all the teachers in the public universities are on strike, SARS is at an all time high, and there are NO JOBS!! EVERYTHING IS BEING RESERVED FOR THE BOURGEOIS
people are dying in cargo ships trying to cross the atlantic because facing whatever evil is out there is better than dying because of their circumstances. and then we have fucking illiterates (as the country is designed to keep us stupid) having religious and tribal wars!!!
"vote according to your tribe" "yoruba people are this" "igbo people are that" "don't vote for the fulani's" "the Islam's will force us to convert" "xxx is a babalawo" SHUT THE FUCK UP!!
how do we suffer every year with people from different tribes and it still has not clicked for people that the government is going to be shit if we continue with the system we have in place right now! we are all fucking arguing everyday as if we aren't still disenfranchised by colonial powers. we are given the illusion that we can vote but it never fucking matters!! they destroy ballot boxes, look us dead in the eye and call out a random number for votes even though it does not match what's on the voting website. how does this tie to the UK?? because every president that wins is buddies with the UK prime minister!! I don't mean cordial work relationships, I mean "flying out of the country every two weeks to rub shoulders with this asshole even though my citizens are being shot at by the police and military" type of buddies
this turned into a rant but whatever 🥴 FUCK YOU TINUBU! FUCK YOU BUHARI! FUCK YOU AS WELL JONATHAN! AND FUCK THE UK

President Buhari unveils newly redesigned naira notes
Tumblr media
President Buhari unveils new N200, N500, N1000 notes
President Muhammadu Buhari has unveiled the newly redesigned naira notes today, Wednesday, 23rd November 2022 at the State House, Abuja.
The launch followed yesterday’s disclosure by the Central Bank of Nigeria that the president would launch the new banknotes today. The notes are in the N200, N500, and N1000 denominations.
Immediate circulation: During the MPC meeting on Tuesday, CBN Governor Godwin Emefiele explained that the new banknotes will immediately start circulating after the launch, rather than wait for the initial date of December 15, 2022. According to the Governor, the new notes will help reduce the volume of currency in circulation, hence curbing the rising inflation rate.
Reason for redesign: He also reiterated the need for the redesign, noting that it was due to the higher rates of counterfeiting of N500 and N1,000 banknotes.
On the other hand, Nigeria is battling a record-high inflation rate, partly attributed to the increased amount of money in circulation. According to data from the CBN, Nigeria’s broad money supply rose past the N50 trillion margin in October, which is the highest level on record.
Similarly, currency in circulation is stated at N3.29 trillion, increasing by over N855 billion between January and October 2022. This is an indication of currency hoarding which has kept monetary policies somewhat ineffective against the rising cost of goods and services.
More details: The CBN explained that the new and existing naira notes shall remain legal tender and circulate together until January 31, 2023, when the existing currencies shall seize to be legal tender. Meanwhile, the apex bank has launched a countdown clock on its website showing when the old naira would stop being a legal tender.
This means that Nigerians have about 69 days to deposit their old currencies in the bank and withdraw the new notes. The CBN has also instructed commercial banks in the country to work on Saturdays till the deadline date to enable customers to return their old notes for the new ones.

Nigeria gunmen kill at least 25 in village raid, officials say
Tumblr media
At least 25 people have been killed and others abducted by gunmen in Nigeria’s northwestern Katsina state, authorities say.
Dozens of gunmen on motorbikes stormed Yargoje in Kankara late on Sunday, the state commissioner for security affairs, Nasiru Babangida Mu'azu, told BBC Hausa.
Attacks by armed gangs - referred to locally as bandits - in north-west and central Nigeria have become almost routine, with authorities seemingly powerless to stop them, despite claims by the government and security forces that they are working to end the widespread insecurity.
Residents told the BBC that dozens of gunmen on motorbikes rode into the community, shooting indiscriminately and looting shops before abducting an unspecified number of villagers.
“The people killed by bandits are more than 50, because some dead bodies are still being recovered from the bush," said a resident, who did not want to be named.
"They killed children, women and men, and kidnapped a huge amount of people. They injured more than 30 residents who are currently receiving treatment at the general hospital."
Another resident, Abdullahi Yunusa Kankara, told Reuters that he narrowly escaped the onslaught, which he said continued into the early hours of Monday.
“Our town has turned into a death zone. Almost every house in the village has fallen victim to this attack. More dead bodies were recovered this [Monday] morning," he said.
Surviving residents are trying to ascertain how many people have been abducted.
In December 2020, more than 300 pupils were kidnapped from a boys' secondary boarding school on the outskirts of Kankara by a gang of gunmen on motorcycles. They were later freed, a week after the Katsina state government confirmed they were in talks with the kidnappers.
In March this year, dozens of passengers were kidnapped in a broad daylight attack also in the same area of Katsina, the state where former Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari hails from.

Shettima inaugurates 37-member minimum wage committee
Tumblr media
The Federal Government on Tuesday inaugurated the tripartite committee on the national minimum wage. Vice President Kashim Shettima inaugurated the 37-member panel at the Council Chamber of the State House in Abuja. With its membership cutting across federal, and state governments, the private sector, and organised labour, the panel is to recommend a new national minimum wage for the country. In his opening address, Shettima urged members to “speedily” arrive at a resolution and submit their reports early as the current N30,000 minimum wage expires at the end of March 2024. “This timely submission is crucial to ensure the emergence of a new minimum wage,” Shettima said. VP Shettima also urged collective bargaining in good faith, emphasising contract adherence and encouraging consultations outside the committee. In May 2017, the House of Representatives moved to amend the National Minimum Wage Act for a compulsory review of workers’ remuneration every five years. Consequently, the Minimum Wage Act of 2019 signed by former President Muhammadu Buhari empowers the committee to deliberate and come up with an agreed wage which would be eventually ratified by the National Assembly after due legislative scrutiny. Buhari had also signed the minimum wage act that approved N30,000 for both federal and state workers in the same year. However, President Bola Tinubu announced the discontinuance of fuel subsidy on May 29, 2023, which triggered a sharp rise in the general cost of living. Although the administration approved an additional NGN 35,000 wage award for six months (starting September 2023) to alleviate the impact of the subsidy removal, the organised labour maintained that this was only a provisional solution and called for a complete review of the minimum wage in 2024. Chairing the panel is a former Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Bukar Aji who, at the inauguration ceremony, affirmed that its members would come up with a “fair, practical, implementable and sustainable,” minimum wage. Tuesday’s inauguration follows months of agitation from organised labour who expressed concerns over the FG’s failure to inaugurate the new national minimum wage committee as promised during negotiations last October. From the government’s side, members include the Minister of State, Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, representing the Minister of Labour and Employment; Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Mr Wale Edun, who was represented by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Lydia Jafiya. The Minister of Budget Economic Planning, Atiku Bagudu; Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Esan; Permanent Secretary, GSO. OSGF, Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri; and Chairman/CEO, NSIWC – Member/Secretary, Ekpo Nta, are also members. Representing the Nigeria Governors Forum are Mohammed Bago of Niger State, representing the North Central; Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State- representing the North East; Umar Dikko Radda of Katsina State, representing the North West; Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra State, representing the South East; Sen. Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, from South West; and Otu Bassey of Cross River State who is representing the South-South. From the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association, Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General, NECA; Mr Chuma Nwankwo; Mr Thompson Akpabio with also members from the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture are Asiwaju Michael Olawale-Cole, National President; Ahmed Rabiu, National Vice President and Chief Humphrey Ngonadi, National Life President. The members from the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprises are Dr Abdulrashid Yerima, President & Chairman of the Council; Hon. Theophilus Nnorom Okwuchukwu, Private Sector representative; Dr Muhammed Nura Bello, Zonal Vice President, North West and also from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria are Mrs. Grace Omo-Lamai, Human Resource Director, Nigerian Breweries; Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director-General, MAN; Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Managing Director, Dozzy Oil and Gas Limited. From the organised labour, the Nigeria Labour Congress Joe Ajaero, President, NLC; Emmanuel Ugboaja; Prince Adeyanju Adewale; Ambali Akeem Olatunji; Benjamin Anthony and Prof. Theophilus Ndukuba. NO GREE FOR ANYBODY: AN OPEN LETTER TO PRESIDENT BOLA AHMED TINUBU
Tumblr media
By: Engr. Nego   Dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I write to you as a concerned citizen, deeply troubled by the current state of our beloved country, Nigeria. The closure of our borders, a policy implemented during the Buhari regime, has caused significant hardship for our people. This hardship is not just an abstract concept, but a daily reality that manifests in various forms across the country. Many of our fellow Nigerians are suffering in silence, victims of political interests that do not seem to prioritize the welfare of the nation. The closure of our borders has exacerbated the hardship caused by the removal of fuel subsidies. This policy has disproportionately favored the political elite, while the majority of our people, the poor masses, are left to grapple with hunger, extreme hardship, and poverty. Our young people, the future of our nation, are so desperate to escape these harsh conditions that they are willing to risk their lives. Some have drowned in deep seas, others have been killed by security forces, and some have been consumed by wildlife. Out of frustration, many have turned to criminal activities, including internet fraud. The high cost of transportation, a direct result of these policies, has made it difficult to convey goods and services within the country. We need to create competition, especially in the refinery industry. Licenses should be issued to anyone who wishes to produce fuel. Those in the creeks should be reformed and taxed accordingly. The monopoly of the refinery industry should not be left to a few individuals for their selfish gains. Similarly, the cost of a bag of cement has skyrocketed, leading to an increase in house rents across our cities. This is a result of the monopoly of the cement industry by the high class and highly connected individuals. Licenses should be issued to anyone who can produce cement. We, as Nigerians, are watching. Just like other past administrations, your regime will come and go. Those of us who survive this man-made poverty, hardship, and hunger will tell the story of Nigeria, and your name will be mentioned. All political leaders should remember that their tenures will also pass, and posterity will judge them. We are aware that the poverty in our country is intentional. The hardship is man-made. The border closure, the high cost of house rent due to the monopoly of the cement industry, the high cost of transportation due to non-functional national or state transportation systems, and limited license issuance are all contributing factors. Corrupt representatives are not distributing allocations as lawfully given to them. Salaries and dues are not consistently paid to workers at the national, state, and local government levels. Grants and loans approved by the federal government are hijacked and diverted by administrators, and there is no national platform for individuals to report these injustices without revealing their identity. Ministers issue contracts to themselves, their family members, their wives, their children, their colleagues, and nothing happens.   AS A CONCERNED CITIZEN HERE IS MY ADVICE: Promote Transparency and Accountability: Encourage transparency in your government and continue to hold public officials accountable for their actions. Strengthen Anti-Corruption Laws: Strengthen existing anti-corruption laws and ensure they are enforced. This includes laws against embezzlement, bribery, nepotism, and court malpractices. Encourage Citizen Participation: Encourage citizens to participate in the democratic process. This includes voting, peaceful protests, and voicing opinions through various platforms. Establish Reporting Mechanisms: Establish safe and anonymous platforms for individuals to report corruption and other injustices. This can help protect whistleblowers and encourage more people to come forward. Promote Economic Policies that Benefit All: Advocate for economic policies that benefit all citizens, not just the elite. This includes policies that promote competition, reduce monopolies, and ensure fair distribution of resources. E.g. the social investments programs have so far not yielded tangible results, no visible impact on the society. Large number of participants, with insignificant number of beneficiaries. This includes the NGCARES, CCT, etc. Invest in Infrastructure: Invest in national and state transportation systems to reduce the high cost of transportation. This can also stimulate economic growth and create jobs. Promote Fair Trade Practices: Reopen borders under fair trade practices. This can help stimulate the economy and reduce the hardship caused by the border closure. In conclusion, reopening our borders will go a long way in restoring Nigeria to her past glory. It will renew hope for the poor for the first time in many years. If not, the so-called renewed hope is only for you and your cabinet. Nigerians have been in a precarious situation since 2015, and nothing good has happened to the country. TO MY FELLOW NIGERIAN YOUTHS: Remember, change often starts at the grassroots level. As youths, we have the power to demand better from our leaders and to hold them accountable for their actions. It’s our responsibility to stay informed, ask tough questions, and demand answers. Together, we can work towards a better Nigeria.   In 2012, it was estimated that Nigeria had lost over $400 billion to corruption since its independence, how many are we in this country?   NIGERIA IS STILL JAGAJAGA, WE NEVER SEE ANY CHANGE   #nogreeforanybody   Yours sincerely,   Nego Ojobo National Coordinator, Active Nigerian Youths For Action   About Us: We are a pressure group made up of patriotic Nigerian youths with network presence in almost every Local Government in the country.   Our Mission: To put the government and leadership at different levels on their toes towards better life for the Nigerian masses.   Our Vision: A great nation that can pride itself as the giant of Africa, devoid of bad governance, injustice, favoritism, tribal and ethnic sentiments, an egalitarian society that boasts of a level playing ground and equality for everyone.     Follow Us: National WhatsApp Group: https://chat.whatsapp.com/BWoDLnaV8G2KO1QV1BnVBF   Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/actionandactive/   Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/youthsforaction     Follow Me:   https://www.twitter.com/NegoEngr   https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?viewas=100000686899395&id=100063764717056   Please share and together, let’s fix Nigeria Read the full article

By • Olalekan Fagbade Withhold monthly allocation to Local Govt Areas without elected Chairmen - Senate tells Fed Govt The Senate on Friday urged the federal government to withhold the statutory allocation to local government councils without democratically elected chairmen. This followed a motion by Senator Abba Moro (Benue South) titled “Urgent Need to halt the erosion of democracy: the dissolution of elected councils in Benue State” during plenary. The Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, had sacked the local government chairmen in the state and appointed caretaker committees for the local government councils. The Red Chamber condemned the arbitrary dissolution of democratically elected local government councils in Benue and other states in Nigeria and urged the Benue State governor to adhere to his oath of office, obey the rule of law and defend the constitution. Lebron James’ son, Bronny, to resume basketball 4 months after cardiac arrest Lagos Demolitions: ASATU Prime Minister Metchie offers land for International Market in Anambra Moro, in his motion, said placing caretaker committees to replace elected councils was an aberration and alien to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended). Moro, quoting Section (1) of the 1999 Constitution, which guarantees a system of local government by democratically elected councils, said the law placed the responsibility on every state to ensure the existence of local government councils. He noted that there were subsisting court rulings directing the governor, the House of Assembly, their agents, privies not to tamper with the tenure of the elected councils. He said neither the governor nor the state government had appealed these judgments. Senator Adams Oshiomhole (Edo North) said about 16 states in Nigeria are currently without democratically elected council officials He said the Senate should direct the Finance Minister to stop funding local government without elected council officials. The suggestion was supported by Senator Ali Ndume. Abdulfatai Buhari (Oyo North) said the Electoral Act should be amended to empower the Independent National Electoral Commission to conduct local government elections. Senate President Godswill Akpabio frowned at the establishment of multiple federal agencies but advocated the creation of the National Electoral Commission for Local Government so that governors would no longer have overbearing influence on council polls.

Tinubu Budgets N7bn For Renovating President, Vice Official Residences In Lagos
The amount was approved by the Federal Executive Council on Monday and contained in the supplementary budget sent to the National Assembly for approval. Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has budgeted N4 billion for the renovation of his official residence at Dodan Barrack in Lagos, and another N3 billion for the renovation of the Vice President’s official quarters in the state. The amount was approved by the Federal Executive Council on Monday and contained in the supplementary budget sent to the National Assembly for approval. Mr Tinubu had on Tuesday requested the National Assembly to approve the N2.17 trillion supplementary budget. In the supplementary budget, the president also proposed another N4 billion for the renovation of presidential quarters for the president, N4 billion for the construction of an office complex within the state house and N2.5 billion for the renovation of Aguda House – the official residence of the vice president located within the Aso Rock Villa. Mr Tinubu also agreed to spend N3 billion on the acquisition, renovation, and rehabilitation of four EFCC fortified quarters as a state house complex at Mabushi and Guzape within the federal capital territory. A review of the budget by PREMIUM TIMES shows that the administration is embarking on non-essential spending at a time when Mr Tinubu appealed to Nigerians to tighten their belts following the economic hardship and galloping inflation that followed the removal of subsidy on petroleum. For instance, the official residences of the President and his vice in Lagos are rarely used. The immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, used the official residence in Lagos less than four times throughout his two consecutive terms in office – 2015 to 2023. Mr Buhari first visited Lagos on 21, May 2016 for a 2-day working visit. In that first official visit to the state, since he assumed office about a year after, the president spent the night in the state where he commissioned the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and the constructed Ago Palace Way in Okota, Isolo, among others. In March 2018, the former president visited Lagos in another two-day working visit, where he attended the Colloquium organised to mark the 66th Birthday of Mr Tinubu who was then the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During that visit, Mr Buhari performed the official flag-off ceremony for the construction of the Lekki Deep Sea Port project, Ibeju Lekki, among others. In January this year, Mr Buhari visited Lagos for a two-dayL working visit where he cut the tape on many projects including the Imota Rice Mill, and Lekki Deep Sea Port among others. He returned to the state in May for his last official visit as president where he commissioned the 650,000 barrels per day Dangote refinery located at the Lekki free zone near Lagos. Unlike, Mr Buhari, who used his residence in Daura while on holiday in Katsina State, it’s not clear, too, if Mr Tinubu will use his residence located on Bourdillon Street, Ikoyi, which is less than a 10-minute drive to his official residence in the Dodan Barrack during his vacation. https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/639215-tinubu-budgets-n7-billion-for-renovating-president-vice-official-residences-in-lagos.html Read the full article

Recently unveiled Nigeria Air chartered aircraft from Ethiopia – MD
Tumblr media
The Interim Managing Director of Nigeria Air, Captain Dayo Olumide, openly admitted to the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation that the recently unveiled national airline was, in fact, a chartered aircraft from Ethiopia. This surprising revelation came to light during a hearing held on Tuesday at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja. Captain Olumide clarified that the Nigeria Air, which was launched by the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, was chartered for a specific purpose: to showcase the airline's logo to the Nigerian public and its shareholders. He explained that the chartered aircraft was utilized for a period of five days, after which it returned to Ethiopia. Interestingly, Olumide revealed that the official launch of Nigeria Air actually took place in 2018. However, his responsibility as the Interim Managing Director was to secure the necessary operating certificate for the airline, rather than being directly involved in its day-to-day operations. He emphasized that his primary focus was to ensure that Nigeria Air obtained the required license to operate as an airline in compliance with regulatory standards. During his appearance before the committee, Olumide expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to clarify any misconceptions and provide insights into the technical aspects of Nigeria Air. He acknowledged the complexity of the situation surrounding the airline's operations and explained that several developments had occurred since its initial launch in 2018, which were beyond his control. The Chairman of the Committee on Aviation, Senator Olujimi, voiced the dissatisfaction of her colleagues regarding the entire arrangement of Nigeria Air, criticizing the lack of transparency and the presence of suspicion surrounding the airline. She conveyed her concerns and questioned the involvement of the former Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, in the establishment of the national carrier. In response to Senator Olujimi's concerns, Olumide clarified that the chartered aircraft that arrived in Nigeria on May 26th, 2023 did not require a license, as it was a privately chartered flight. He used an analogy to explain the situation, stating that anyone could charter an aircraft for personal purposes, such as a destination wedding, without needing an operating license. He further emphasized that the purpose of bringing the chartered aircraft to Nigeria was to showcase the physical appearance of the aircraft to shareholders and potential investors. Moreover, Olumide addressed the issue of the aircraft's registration, highlighting that the chartered aircraft was registered under Ethiopian jurisdiction. He explained that, in order to operate aircraft in Nigeria, they must be registered with the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). However, the Ethiopian-registered aircraft that was chartered for the unveiling of Nigeria Air did not meet this requirement. Olumide clarified that the chartered flight had received clearance for a limited period, and it departed soon after the unveiling event. To obtain the necessary operating license for Nigeria Air, Olumide elaborated on the requirements set by the NCAA. He stated that one of the prerequisites for obtaining the license was to have three aircraft registered under the Nigerian jurisdiction. These aircraft serve as evidence of the airline's commitment to the Nigerian aviation industry. The process of securing the license involved fulfilling various criteria, including the registration of Nigerian-registered aircraft. Meanwhile, during the investigative hearing, the House of Representatives Committee on Aviation expressed their belief that the launch of Nigeria Air by the previous administration was conducted fraudulently and in secrecy. The committee chairman, Nnolim Nnaji, emphasized that the National Assembly was not properly involved in the establishment of the national carrier. Furthermore, major stakeholders involved in the deal, including Ethiopian Airlines, denied any knowledge of the unveiling of Nigeria Air. This contradiction raised further questions regarding the transparency and accountability surrounding the launch of the airline. The revelations and discussions during the hearing shed light on the complexities and controversies surrounding Nigeria Air. As the investigation continues, it is crucial to ensure transparency, accountability, and adherence to regulatory standards in the establishment and operation of any national carrier. The committee's thorough examination of the matter is essential to uncover the truth and address any potential irregularities in the process. Read the full article
