#pretty sure Maer is the best thin I have ever created

Happy Pride Month!

I've got a number of character illustrations I'll post throughout the month. First off: Guardian Envan of Ilaka with his adorable levin familiar Maer! (those symbols spell "Envan" in the Magil script)

He was dreaming of becoming a therapist, but when he was chosen to be the next Mergil Guardian of Ilaka at 14 years of age, he, like all other guardians, was forced to give up that dream.

While he never received the necessary education to be a therapist, he is working hard to care for the mental and emotional health of Ilaka's secret inhabitants and, in a way, he is working as a therapist, though admittedly he would never accept that title, since he wasn't trained to be one. He feels more like the dad or very caring brother of everyone on the Island. While the Magil living on Ilaka have a healthy view on communication, emotions and mental health, it does help to have a person who dedicates their life to ensuring that everyone is healthy.

There is not much more he can do with his life on the Island. As Guardian he is not allowed to leave, the people can organize their village by themselves and the island is feeding off the Guardian's energy until the Guardians die at 30, which is when they'll be replaced with new ones.

Envan likes to know that his life has a purpose, that the energy he gives powers the protective shield around the continent and blocking the Gill's magic, ensuring the safety of the Magil, and on top of that, he knows that he is helping the people living on the island. But still, he resents his parents for signing him up to be a candidate to become a Guardian. He never wanted it. He's just doing the best he can with the situation he was given.

Despite this, he has found happiness on Ilaka. Friends and family that love him and who want him to be happy. And he is. He may only have 6 years left to live, but he is truly happy where he is.
