Do you guys think that Autor ever tried writing his own stories? He had already tried talking to the Oak Tree and had built a raport with the Bookmen, but 'was not chosen', and was always looked down upon by the truly knowledgeable.

Also, rewatching the scene when Fakir gets chosen by the Oak Tree, I ended up thinking about the way the show subtly highlighted the difference between an author (one who wrote but did not wager anything much for it, not his time nor relationships nor academic success, so his words could not change the world around him), and a creator, in the true sense of the word (one who martyred and fully renounced the world as it was, like the word fakir implies, in order to change something).

Moreover, everyone seemed to consider that Autor simply was not 'born with it', but I can't help wondering if he would have been able to gain some level of the ability had he been ready to leave behind the sense of comfort that his research and knowledge had lulled him into.

Fully convinced that Drosselmeyer is one of those writers who believes his writing is Deep and Profound because it’s dark, but it’s actually just deeply shitty on a technical level with no real understanding of character or themes or even what the purpose of writing dark and tragic things is.
