wait i want your take on jenson/nico

okay so I'm gonna split this ask into two parts; in real life and under the RPF lens.

In real life:

God I watched that one podcast episode where they talked and I hope to see more of them together this year and in the future. They both are two ex-drivers who really stir interest into what driving was like for themselves. How they talked about doing better under TP's that care and they genuinely are a great pair to listen too. If I'm honest, I would have loved to see them as teammates, either at Williams or another team. Do I think it is a good idea? No but it would be interesting.

In RPF.

Oooh Jenson/Nico, labelled Princesscake is such an interesting pairing. You have Nico, post 2016, now a champion but having lost something greater. Jenson, the one who in the past was this playboy extraordinaire that called him things like pretty boy and compared him to Brittany Spears. Jenson with his haircut similar to Nico's, just rougher and less tame. Jenson who still looks at Nico like he hung the moon and stars. Nico has this man who isn't pushing him to his limit and god is it different. It's soft and so warm and so very foreign compared to everything he had before.

Pretending Part 2

Jenson woke up with a quiet groan and a stretch of his overtired muscles. His surroundings came slowly to him, first, the light when he rapidly blinked and then the rest, a splash of colours and shapes coming together to create the sight of their main bedroom — mostly white with warm tones of brown splashed here and there, the moist green of the plants a pleasant addition, the sun shining through thin white curtains making everything soft and warm. He basked in the feeling of sea wind blowing through the open terrace door for a few minutes, flexing his toes and enjoying the returning clearness of his mind just like after every rut.

Then he did what he did every morning after waking up since he and Nico moved in together — he checked if his husband was still by his side.

It became a habit of sorts, such a constant in his life that the existence of the gesture skipped his mind completely most of the time. Not this time though.

He knew Nico would be tired, he didn't want to wake him up, so putting his arm blindly to the side wasn't an option, he had to look first. The pleasant feelings coursing through his body fought with the usual fear that still, after so many years, had a cozy place in the pit of his stomach. Was Nico still here?

He could put it to dysregulated hormones after his rut, the way it made all alphas possessive of their mates, more fiercely protective, but he knew it wasn't just that. It was a strange feeling, living in constant doubt. It was chronic, became a background noise that you learned to ignore or embrace as a simple fact. He turned his head to the side.

Nico was sleeping soundly by his side, his beautiful face relaxed, mouth parted only slightly. His hair looked too good for someone who was just fucked senseless for three days straight by a very eager alpha. He almost looked interview-ready, apart from maybe the redness of his cheeks and a little bit of crusted saliva at the corner of his mouth. Jenson suspected that the makeup people would like to cover the bite marks on his neck too.

Jenson grinned to himself, the tension leaving his body before it had time to properly settle in. He needed to get up and shower, start cleaning and make Nico breakfast in bed, even though he knew his beta would be fussing over the crumbs in the sheets. They were covered in cum and lube anyway.

They had one day more before they had to pick up their daughter from the Rosbergs and go back to reality. Jens wanted to stay in their tiny bubble of two for a while longer.

Like that, he knew who Nico wanted, knew who he belonged to. They were joined and inseparable, the way it should always be. But as it stood, Jenson learned to live with whatever Nico gave him and he would be a liar if he said it wasn't enough.

Things took a turn between them when Nico won his first and only WDC. It somewhat broke the illusion of Lewis for the beta, their friendship crumbling in Mercedes. The way Nico managed to love him less opened up the possibility of loving Jenson more, of thinking of him in different ways. It was easier than JB expected, to approach tired Nico after the season ended, after they both recently retired, as just friends catching up, friends that knew each other pretty well in bed too. Yeah, it went quite easy from there.

Jenson suspected that Nico stayed because he needed him. After all, everyone wants to be loved. Jens could be loved a little less, but he didn't mind, he was surrounded by love plenty.

It didn't matter that Nico always bet on Lewis' winning a race, that he almost fawned over him to the media. Lew could win races, Jenson didn't really care after he'd retired, why would he care in 2024? Until Silverstone, he managed to fall into the false sense of security you could say. He supposed it was inevitable, that he'd be reminded even years later that he was a second choice, because maybe he was, but he was also the only choice, he was the one that had Nico to himself, not Lewis. He was the one to dance with their daughter to Tylor Swift songs as Nico recorded them with a fond smile on his wonderfully beautiful face. It was the way his husband cried out his name last night, in moments like that Jenson was sure Nico would stick to his choice. A choice to stay really happy.

Jenson believed in Nico's love for him, whatever its size was, in the love for their daughter. He wanted to believe that the love for Lewis was smaller now compared to the love for them. Nico was far from cruel, he was a good partner and a great dad. Jenson just wished they didn't live in the same building in the Principality as Hamilton did. It was a peculiar feeling, to acquire love for someone over the years, knowing all along that you're never going to be loved in equal measure. He could only hope and make sure Nico stayed, be good to him, like he always deserved, especially from the man who turned him down. Jens wouldn't change anything if it meant he would still have Nico in his life.

It wasn't always like that, okay between the Silver Arrows, Nico interviewing Lewis like he wanted to run him off and away from the paddock with just his gaze alone. Jenson recalled their joined gig as commentators when Lewis admitted that he was a better teammate now and the face Nico made when he heard the words.

Jenson wasn't stupid like some people claimed him to be, reckless and having a big ego back in the day maybe, but never stupid. He knew they matched, Nico and him in various aspects, if they didn't they wouldn't work out in the end. But there was still this feeling of fear, that if Lewis was ever different in his approach, if he one day changed his mind Jens would be left alone.

So his husband could root for his ex-teammate to win now, he could cry tears of joy if or should he say when Lewis gets the 8th title, in the end, it was Jens' quickly fading teeth marks on the back of Nico's neck, it was Nico's hair that tickled the tip of his nose as they were wakened up by their pup, in the end, it was Jens that got the good luck kiss before WEC races. In the end, Lewis mattered, but not enough. In Jens' opinion he still made an awful decision - not wanting Nico, but at least thanks to this it was Jenson who could reap the fruits, could have the most darling, beautiful man to himself, he should thank Lewis for being so goddamn blind. Well, maybe not.

Lewis pushed him to the brink when Jenson gave him peace and stability. It ought to be worth something, right?

If he told all that to Nico his mate would probably chuckle adorably and say he became much too philosophical in his old age and Jens would mock his use of an eye wrinkle cream in the most awful German accent he could manage. But Jenson preferred to stay in bed for now, getting his fill, looking at the best decision of his life, given to him by the worst mistake another man made.

I just read Pretending part 2 and I have a bunch of thoughts: This is just pure angst poor JB! The forever second lead! like all these years together and he almost never felt secure in his relationship with Nico more like didn’t believe that nico would stay with him even after their marriage and having a daughter :( Lewis living rent free in mind. His self esteem taking multiple hits “Jens could be loved a little less” this is making me sad

I would love to see a Nico pov, did he really settle for JB? I want to believe that he moved on from Lewis but… One day my man JB is gonna snap and the convo these two will be having…

Like did he not realize his husband insecurities about his place in Nico’s life (re: was thinking that he might leave their life together if Lewis showed a bit of interest in him)

Loved the fic

I'm happy you loved it even if it was very angsty. It was just a short snippet and well, I focused on just one aspect of them and their relationship which is a lot more complicated and layered. This was a moment for Jenson, the cocktail of emotions and high of his rut ending made him more vulnerable for sure, the morning when he both had Nico completly to himself a stark contrast to the times when he doubted everything and that kickstarted it really, that thought spiral. While he still has those habits when he checks for Nico's presence most times it isn't at the forefront of his mind all the time, he doesn't focus on it so intently, he just lives, he's happy.

I think Nico knows Jenson is aware of how deep his love for Lewis was and still is, but because Jenson hates talking about it, bringing it up at all, Nico lives in understanding that Jens is sure that whatever they build together is enough for Nico. After all, it was Jenson who helped Nico when he was at his lowest in relationship with Lewis.

It is almost like they both are sort of second choice, Jenson knows if things were different Nico would be with Lewis. Nico suspects that Jenson could find someone head over heels for him but he chose Nico, with all his faults, forgoing conciously putting himself first. In the end, they are together and activly making it the best relationship they could, even if both of them longs for something else sometimes. Nico loves Jens, but more I think, he loves how JB loves him.

As Jens summed it up, they make it work and Nico is not going anywhere.

(ps. I never thought I would get so involved in those two, maybe when I finish SebMark fic and have an idea for them I'd write some more, if you want smth specific you can always hit me up anon, even if I don't respond right way ;))

I know I’m the best supervillain Gotham has ever seen, but I always had a humble respect for Crane. The man has elicited terror and fear thoroughout Gotham for many years and is a profilic terrorist and scientist. So it baffles the mind that he has taken upon himself to be a parent, oh wait I mean (snickers) boss to a bunch of tiny pastel ponies so he can scare the whole populace. It’s almost comical how stupid that plan is. Oh sure, the average Neanderthal slumping around the streets would be scared of these sickeningly cute critters. But that’ll wear off soon enough and you don’t see Two-Face or Harley Quinn afraid of them! What will be your plan next? Face it, Crane. You just want to play house with these ponies because you’re so desperate to have a goal in your life, you’ve resorted to parenthood like a lonely housewife in a loveless marriage. Pathetic!…What? What do I think of the ponies themselves? What’s there to talk about? They’re annoying, disgustingly cute and clearly lack any intelligence whatsoever! Those ponies are herbivores, nature is part of their diet. Normally, I would be against them but I just can’t say no to kids. These little ones have an unspoiled innocence that I hope their time in Gotham would never taint it. I feel almost sorry for them. Crane is a smart man, but he is cold and ruthless, not exactly father of the year material. But it is rather amusing to see himself run ragged trying to keep a bunch of ponies in order. Especially that unicorn following him around like a puppy. He’s stuck with all of them for eternity so I can’t wait to see how this will unfold. My bet is that he’ll have a mental breakdown within a few months. And I’ll have front row seats.

Harley Quinn:

What?! Dr Crane has magical ponies as his kids?!. Oh my god, that’s hysterical!! Wow, I mean, I know the Bat beat you pretty bad and you’re out of ideas, but that is a whole new level of desperate! Whats next year’s Halloween’s plan, he’s gonna sic Starbright Sprinkle and Princesscake on us? Ohhh, I’m so scared! But ya know what, good for him for finding a new career that suits him: a fucking loser! By the way, which ranch did he get those ponies from? Cos I want one! In fact, Crane, can I have the pink one? No, wait, I’ll trade ya for the flying fairy one!

Catwoman:

I always see the little guys running around at the mall, playing dress up and terrifying thugs with their mere existence. Its funny to see a bunch of grown men terrified at something so cute. Honestly, I have no idea why Crane of all people is in custody of these ponies. To see the master of fear being a dad and a decent one to boot is…weird. I don’t know if he’s just putting it on to regain some scare factor or if he’s genuinely enjoying it, but at least the ponies seem happy. However, if he does put any of those kids in danger, I’ll tear his stitched ass apart.

Killer Croc:

Doesn’t matter, they’re all just food to me. Those little things don’t scare me. Nothing scares me. Not even, you, Crane.

Mr Freeze:

He has what? That is…concerning. I do hope those little ponies are treated properly. Are they well-fed? Do they have proper education? He doesn’t experiment on them, does he? No? Oh thank goodness. Well, are their mental and emotional needs met? Does he spend quality time with them? …Sorry, I have a few arctic hares that I keep as pets that I’ve grown very attached to over the last month. They’re like children to me. So I just hope Crane is taking the responsibilities of parenting seriously.

i was just talking to myself about nico (as one does) and was thinking he should commentate more often and then i thought he should commentate with jenson because of that i realised i forgot their ship name and spend ages concocting weird variations of their names trying to remember it. it was only when i got to buttberg that i remembered it was princesscake 😭😭

I swear to God with that ghost x sole survivor crossover fic, you scratched an itch that I didn't even know I had, you've created an addiction for me now, I'm in love with that fic I need to download that fucking mod for f04 or I'm gonna go even more unhinged than I already am with how vicereally I NEED him

Haha I knoooow! On a whim I downloaded him as a mod because I really only use Hancock, Danse, or Nick as companions, and it's nice having a companion that can pack a punch and not go down so easily (at least in my save).

However he does say "Fuckin' hell!" a goddamn lot of you don't tell him to sit still before going into build-mode cause his ass can and will fuck around while you're doing stuff.

But the mods I use(d) are:

Modern Warfare SAS Companions - Ghost and Price (by: bohgger) They don't speak very much and aren't too terribly well-programmed, but they use actual voice lines from their respective games.

(I'm not sure if the mod is available as it's now gone and vanished from my mod list and searches; but if you're not on Xbox like me, I'm sure the PC has waaaay better mods there!)

His outfit was a mod called [XHX] MW19 Ghost Prison Outfit (it is by the author thefalllenking) but it may still show up on PC searches.

There's another outfit mod I may download called [XHX] MW19 Ghost Redux that comes with several other Ghost outfits! (Also by thefalllenking)

I may also consider downloading the Apocalypse Survival Set + Improved Textures (2k) (by LandoCummando) for a more "immersive" look in the future

Now, I also have the following mods for other NPCs (i love my Minutemen looking like actual soldiers and not homeless chem addicts toting around fatman launchers)

Unfortunately, like the first MW2 Ghost outfit mod, the PMC Operators Pack (I believe it is called, and I believe it is done by Overboss.Dragon, but I could be incorrect) is no longer appearing on Xbox searches or in my mod list but it may still be available on PC, like the previous one. It allows me to set custom faction patches for their gear! (Price is rocking the MM flag currently)

If you can't find that mod, there is also the BZW Captain Price mod (by DeepBlue93) for (one of) his outfit from MW. I just like the PMC Operators Pack because it gives me so many customization options.

For my Soul Survivor:

I also use the NV Authority Glasses (by princesscake) but you can also just use the vanilla Patrolman Sunglasses found lying around
