Work Anniversary
So, hari ini tepat setahun gue punya role sebagai IT PMO. Suka dukanya ngga seimbang, lebih banyak dukanya karena gue belum begitu mengenal medan gue.
Terutama, gue masih gampang banget ke-sway sama circumstances dan jadi ngga punya pendirian. Dan seringnya gue menyalahkan budaya kerja orang-orang lama, budaya yang tipikal korporat banget. Budaya terjelek tiap peradaban, indisiplin.
Sering banget ngalamin janjian sama vendor utk UAT atau untuk meeting, baik online maupun onsite, pasti minimal banget mulainya itu telat 30 menit, even worse, pernah sampe 2 jam.
Gue gatel bgt asli.
Vendor udah ready, gue udah ready dan tepat waktu datang bahkan berusaha kaya bajing loncat, tp in the end usernya yg telat. But, berhubung gue IT PMO yang harus menjembatani antara vendor dan user, gue harus make up excuse ke vendor mengenai problem indisiplin dari user. That’s really not my style.
Gue ngga kebiasa bikin excuse untuk orang lain, karena gue literally berprinsip kalo kita yg butuh ya kita yg harus usaha. In other words, karena user yang membutuhkan aplikasi, harusnya user yang lebih menghargai effort dari vendor (terlebih kalo vendornya udah doing their best)
On the other side, sebenernya penilaian orang lain jadi bagus ke gue, gue sering dibilang rajin dan ulet, padahal menurut gue ketepatan waktu dalam bekerja (apalagi kalo udah bikin janji), memang udah jadi standar. Tepat waktu bukan kelebihan, tepat waktu adalah kebutuhan.
Requirement untuk jadi IT PMO yg trusted adalah manajemen waktu yang baik, efektif dan efisien dalam bekerja, dan ternyata, setelah setahun berjalan, challenge yang menurut gue menantang justru bukan bagaimana kita me-manage waktu kita secara efisien dan efektif agar seluruh pekerjaan dapat berjalan sesuai dengan timeline, budget, dan scope, tapi bagaimana kita menyiasati untuk mengefektifkan proses development dengan orang-orang yang sulit untuk diajak bekerja secara efisien.
Challenge di atas akan menjadi forever battlefield bagi siapapun yang punya role as IT PMO, khususnya yang ada di ranah korporat. Cara terefektif yang selama ini masih dianggap ampuh untuk menjawab challenge tersebut adalah dengan jangan sekali-kali kita slacking. User dan vendor yang indiscipline, it may be not good, tapi PM yang indiscipline, the development process will never meet the the goals
