The Beast from the Sea
1 Then I saw a beast coming up out of the sea. It had ten horns and seven heads. There was a crown on each of its horns. It had an evil name written on each head. 2 This beast looked like a leopard, with feet like a bear’s feet. It had a mouth like a lion’s mouth. The dragon gave the beast all of its power and its throne and great authority.
3 One of the heads of the beast looked as if it had been wounded and killed, but the death wound was healed. All the people in the world were amazed, and they all followed the beast. 4 People worshiped the dragon because it had given its power to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast. They asked, “Who is as powerful as the beast? Who can make war against it?”
5 The beast was allowed to boast and speak insults against God. It was allowed to use its power for 42 months. 6 The beast opened its mouth to insult God—to insult his name, the place where he lives, and all those who live in heaven. 7 It was given power to make war against God’s holy people and to defeat them. It was given power over every tribe, race of people, language, and nation. 8 Everyone living on earth would worship the beast. These are all the people since the beginning of the world whose names are not written in the Lamb’s book of life. The Lamb is the one who was killed.
9 Anyone who hears these things should listen to this:
10 Whoever is to be a prisoner, will be a prisoner. Whoever is to be killed with a sword, will be killed with a sword.
This means that God’s holy people must have patience and faith.
The Beast From the Earth
11 Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth. He had two horns like a lamb, but he talked like a dragon. 12 This beast stood before the first beast and used the same power the first beast had. He used this power to make everyone living on the earth worship the first beast. The first beast was the one that had the death wound that was healed. 13 The second beast did great miracles. He even made fire come down from heaven to earth while people were watching.
14 This second beast fooled the people living on earth by using the miracles that he had been given the power to do for the first beast. He ordered people to make an idol to honor the first beast, the one that was wounded by the sword but did not die. 15 The second beast was given power to give life to the idol of the first beast. Then the idol could speak and order all those who did not worship it to be killed. 16 The second beast also forced all people, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to have a mark put on their right hand or on their forehead. 17 No one could buy or sell without this mark. (This mark is the name of the beast or the number of its name.)
18 Anyone who has understanding can find the meaning of the beast’s number. This requires wisdom. This number is the number of a man. Humbly Fasting

THOUGHTS:

    Being humble is something we all must do when it comes to going before God, and a lot of times, it’s hard to humble ourselves because we are used to being a certain way. We are used to doing certain things, but the most significant way to humble ourselves is fast.
 Fasting is the most selfless thing we can do because we are telling God that food isn’t what we live for. It’s you who I live for. The Bible says this man doesn’t live by bread alone but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.
  But when we fast, the Bible gives us strict instructions: “Matthew 6:16-18 And when you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces so that others may see their fasting. Honestly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face, your fasting may not be seen by others but by your father, who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.”
 See, the Bible tells us when we are fasting not to make it known but to go ahead and do what we must throughout our day. When we do this in secret, we will be awarded, and for the ones that fast in the open and allow everyone to know they are fasting, you got your reward; your reward was in you telling everyone you're on a fast
  Some people look at fasting as good works or something to applaud someone for, and when we do this, we are rewarded by the applauds of others and by the pats on the back; we have to understand that fasting is something that will get Gods attention, it will show him that your sacrificing food to draw near to him fasting is showing him that, you desire to know him more, fasting is an intimate moment between you and God.
  Psalm 69:10 When I weep and fast, I must endure scorn;
   Many people won't understand why you are fasting. We will have people make fun of us, say ugly things, and be cruel, but when we fast, we aren’t doing it for people. That’s why this goes back to the verse in Matthew: don’t tell a single soul what you are doing because people are going to see it, they won't understand it, so then what you must do is explain it to them.
    That’s precisely why we shouldn’t tell people what we are doing; some people say a water fast is better, some say a fruit fast is better, some say eating nothing is better, but whatever you can do on a fast is okay with God if your beginner it's even best to do a half of a day but whatever you do unto God do it in secret and ask God what do he want you to do and always do it with a contrite heart.
  •Luke 4:2 For forty days, being tempted by the devil. And he ate nothing during those days. And when they were ended, he was hungry.
•Matthew 4:4 But he answered, “It is written, “‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’”
 •Isaiah 58:3: ‘Why have we fasted, and you see it not? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you take no knowledge of it?’ Behold, in the day of your fast, you seek your pleasure and oppress all your workers.
    Each of these verses is about fasting; you can see Jesus went on a no-food, no-water fast, and it says that we don’t live by bread alone. We live by the word, and when we fast, we are sustained by God, not by our works, nor by fasting, but because we are relying on God to take care of our needs and not food; the other verse lets us know when we do this we are humbling ourselves, we must humble ourselves if we want to grow in God and draw closer to him and when we fast the Holy Spirit can break chains and destroy yokes people of God, we must fast, a lot of people don’t want to fast, but fasting is critical, to growing in God more.
  Joel 2:12 Yet even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting, with weeping, and with mourning.
    This is precisely what God is asking us to do: go back to him with weeping, mourning, and FASTING because when we do this, it’s done with a contrite heart. Many people fast so they can let go of things they are struggling with, like yokes, but when we fast to show off and this” look at me kind of way”, we won’t grow at all, and we won’t change. Still, God wants us to draw near to him with a humble heart; it’s hard to be humble; sometimes it is it’s hard to be humble and let go of what we desire, but when we are humble, that’s when God sees us.
  ***Today, we learned how to be humble, and one of the ways to do this is fasting; another way is drawing near; a lot of times, we fast, and we do it wrong, or we do partial fasting because we aren’t dedicated to breaking free from what we want. Still, God wants us to have a contrite heart and depend on him alone; fasting can change who we are and our relationship with him.
  We don’t have to struggle with our burdens with our fleshly ways because we say, " I know you can change me; I know you can break this in my life. Sometimes, we under estimate God because we feel there’s no way he knows how I’m feeling, but he does. When Jesus was on his fast, he drew away and was led by the Holy Spirit; when this happened immediately, he was tempted by the devil. It sounds familiar: we can be doing good on our fast, and here comes the enemy to tempt us to break our fast, but just like Jesus, we must be strong and deny the enemy by using the word of God. If you ever feel alone, discouraged, and overwhelmed, remember Jesus is there for you; all we must do is humble ourselves and pray. ©Seer~ Prophetess Lee

Heavenly Father, we thank you for all things; we ask you to heal our bodies and wounds and change us into more of your image , We are sorry if we have done anything wrong or anything to offend the Holy Spirit; Lord, give us strength and continue to mold us. Matthew 1:1
"This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, the son of Abraham"
Abraham was the Father of The Jewish Nation, the first man of the Torah because he entered into the covenant of circumcision with God. Essentially, he was the first Monotheist.
David was a direct descendant of Abraham. David was King of Israel and was anointed with The Holy Spirit which lead him to compose many of the Psalms some of which are prophecies about Jesus Christ. Read Psalms 22, 69, 110, & 16.
The Messiah was a special figure to the Jewish people, believed to be anointed by God to bring redemption. The author of this Gospel asserts that Jesus is the Messiah and begins his account with a bloodline lineage.
It is common for Jews to keep records of their patrilineal descent and according to bible prophecy the Messiah had to come from the Davidic lineage.

The Sign of Jonah: Christ’s Death at Sea

Jonah is the English form of the Hebrew name Yona, which is rendered as Ionas in the Greek. The Ionians were the ancient Greeks (see Josephus Antiquities I, 6). So Ionia means Greece, and an ancient citizen of Ion was called Ionas. So Jonah (Ionas), who is a type of Christ, is depicted as a Greek figure. Let us not forget that Jonah was going to Tarshish, which has been identified as Ancient Greece (see the undermentioned article).
What is more, it seems as if the sign of Jonah is a typological metaphor for Christ’s death and resurrection that is employed by the evangelists in order to demonstrate that Jesus is the Messiah. But, as I will show, it also represents an event in prophetic history, although this has not as yet taken place. In the gospel narrative, Matthew connects Jesus’ death to that of Jonah, after the latter’s body was cast into the sea. Matthew 12:39-40 (NASB) reads thusly:
“An evil and adulterous generation craves a
sign; and so no sign will be given to it except
the sign of Jonah the prophet; for just as
Jonah was in the stomach of the sea
monster for three days and three nights, so
will the Son of Man be in the heart of the
earth for three days and three nights.”
We find analogous parallels and motifs in the Psalms as well. For example, Psalm 69:1-2 reads:
“Save me, God, For the waters have
threatened my life. I have sunk in deep mud,
and there is no foothold; I have come into
deep waters, and a flood overflows me.”
Similarly, Psalm 18:16 says:
“He sent from on high, He took me;
He drew me out of many waters.”
So, Matthew is drawing comparative conclusions between Jonah’s and Jesus's death at sea. Let’s see what happened to Jonah. Jonah 1:15-17 says:
“So they picked up Jonah and hurled him
into the sea, and the sea stopped its raging.
… And the Lord designated a great fish to
swallow Jonah, and Jonah was in the
stomach of the fish for three days and three
nights.”
The typological sign of the resurrection is suggested in Jonah 2:10:
“Then the Lord commanded the fish, and it
vomited Jonah up onto the dry land.”
This, then, is the sign of Jonah——which says in effect that God literally “drew … [him] out of many waters”——that Matthew applies to Jesus (cf. Isaiah 43:2)! This is reminiscent of another messianic type who was named “Moses” by Pharaoh's daughter “because … [she] drew him out of the water” (Exod. 2:10). It is also the sign of Jesus’ resurrection from the dead. I will not focus on the phrase “three days and three nights” because it will divert us from the topic at hand. Suffice it to say that it need not refer to a literal three-day period. It seems to be a figure of speech that may signify the three-year great tribulation period.
At any rate, the so-called “sign of Jonah” is not simply a metaphor or a unique sign that would establish the deity of Christ, but it is also a factual event! And although I agree with C.S. Lewis who held that Jonah is ahistorical, nevertheless, I believe that the sign of Jonah, as a type, represents the literal, actual death of its antitype: the Messiah! We know that Jonah did not survive. The Book of Jonah 2:2-6 explicitly says that Jonah, after being hurled into the sea, cried out to God “from the depth of Sheol”:
“I called out of my distress to the Lord, And
He answered me. I called for help from the
depth of Sheol; You heard my voice. For You
threw me into the deep, Into the heart of the
seas, And the current flowed around me. All
Your breakers and waves passed over me.
So I said, ‘I have been cast out of Your
sight.’ … Water encompassed me to the
point of death. The deep flowed around me,
Seaweed was wrapped around my head. …
But You have brought up my life from the
pit, Lord my God.”
It’s important to note that the terms “pit” and “Sheol,” in the Hebrew Bible, are references to the realm of the dead (see e.g. Job 7:9; Ps. 49:14-15; 89:48). The resurrection is depicted in Jonah’s own words: “You have brought up my life from the pit, Lord my God.”
So it appears as if the sign of Jonah is also the sign of Christ’s death. Just as Tim Mackie (co-founder of the Bibleproject) explains in one of his sessions that there is a literary redundancy of the word “hurled” in the Jonah text, especially regarding its main character Jonah who is literally “hurled” into the water, I believe that Christ is similarly “hurled” into the water and eaten by a shark. Hence the symbolism of being born in a manger or a feeding trough. This, of course, is closely related to the last supper (i.e. the sacrament of the Eucharist), the idea that Jesus is literally consumed. There are also overtones of Noah's flood in this parallel (cf. Matthew 24:37), as well as of Osiris, who also drowned and whose coffin (like the Ark) floated in the sea (cf. the story of Perseus who was also cast into the sea in a wooden chest).
Another key point is that, according to the Hebrew text, Jonah's fish is not a whale but rather some kind of “great fish". Through special revelation, this appears to be a shark. And the term “swallow”——in the clause, “the Lord designated a great fish to swallow Jonah”——is a euphemism for a great fish feasting on Jonah and consequently fatally injuring him. This, of course, ties in with the idea that we die and are reborn by going under water (Immersion baptism), a symbolic ritual that is unique to Christianity! Hence why Immersion baptism is not only tied to Jonah but is also symbolic of Christ’s death, being re-enacted in the New Testament through the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist!
This study of Jonah takes us back to the origin of the Christian fish symbol, the so-called “ichthys” (ἰχθύς), which is now known as the Jesus fish. And despite the acrostic use of this word: Ἰησοῦς Χριστός, Θεοῦ Υἱός, Σωτήρ (i.e. Jesus Christ, Son of God, Saviour)—— nevertheless, the fish symbolism has a variety of other theological overtones in the New Testament, such as the Feeding of the 5,000 with 2 fishes and 5 loaves, as well as the Feeding of the 4,000 with seven loaves of bread and a few small fish, not to mention that Jesus calls his disciples "fishers of men." That is precisely why Immersion baptism in the early church signified a parallel between fish and converts (i.e. born again Christians). The early Christian theologian Tertullian explained it thusly:
“we, little fishes, after the image of our
Ichthys, Jesus Christ, are born in the water."

The Victory of the Lamb
Then one of the seven angels with the seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the punishment of the great prostitute, who sits on many waters. The kings of the earth were immoral with her, and those who dwell on the earth were intoxicated with the wine of her immorality.”
And the angel carried me away in the Spirit into a wilderness, where I saw a woman sitting on a scarlet beast that was covered with blasphemous names and had seven heads and ten horns. The woman was dressed in purple and scarlet, and adorned with gold and precious stones and pearls. She held in her hand a golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. And on her forehead a mysterious name was written:
BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
I could see that the woman was drunk with the blood of the saints and witnesses for Jesus. And I was utterly amazed at the sight of her.
“Why are you so amazed?” said the angel. “I will tell you the mystery of the woman and of the beast that carries her, which has the seven heads and ten horns.
The beast that you saw—it was, and now is no more, but is about to come up out of the Abyss and go to its destruction. And those who dwell on the earth whose names were not written in the Book of Life from the foundation of the world will marvel when they see the beast that was, and is not, and yet will be.
This calls for a mind with wisdom. The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sits. There are also seven kings. Five have fallen, one is, and the other has not yet come; but when he does come, he must remain for only a little while.
The beast that was, and now is not, is an eighth king, who belongs to the other seven and is going into destruction. The ten horns you saw are ten kings who have not yet received a kingdom, but will receive one hour of authority as kings, along with the beast. These kings have one purpose: to yield their power and authority to the beast.
They will make war against the Lamb, and the Lamb will triumph over them, because He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and He will be accompanied by His called and chosen and faithful ones.”
Then the angel said to me, “The waters you saw, where the prostitute was seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and tongues. And the ten horns and the beast that you saw will hate the prostitute. They will leave her desolate and naked, and will eat her flesh and burn her with fire. To drink of a cup, in the Scriptures, often signifies to be afflicted, or to be punished, Matthew 26:39; Isaiah 51:17, Isaiah 51:22; Psalm 73:10; Psalm 75:8; Jeremiah 25:15; Revelation 16:9. The figure is taken from a feast, where the master of a feast extends a cup to those present. Thus God is represented as extending to his Son a cup filled with a bitter mixture - one causing deep sufferings, John 18:11. This was the cup to which he referred.
The baptism that I am baptized with - This is evidently a phrase denoting the same thing. Are ye able to suffer with me - to endure the trials and pains which shall come upon you and me in endeavoring to build up my kingdom? Are you able to bear it when sorrows shall cover you like water, and you shall be sunk beneath calamities as floods, in the work of religion? Afflictions are often expressed by being sunk in the floods and plunged in deep waters, Psalm 69:2; Isaiah 43:2; Psalm 124:4-5; Lamentations 3:54. (Barnes Notes on the Bible)
And he saith unto them, ye shall drink indeed of my cup,.... Not of the selfsame, but of what was like unto it; meaning, that they should endure much persecution for his name's sake, as all that will live godly in Christ Jesus must expect in one shape or another. Thus James, who was one of these persons, was slain with the sword by Herod; John, the other, was imprisoned, and beaten by the order of the Jewish sanhedrim, was banished into the isle of Patmos by Domitian; and, some say, was cast into a cauldron of boiling oil, though saved in it: so that these words seem to be a prophecy of what they should suffer for Christ, instead of enjoying places of worldly honour and profit under him, they were seeking for. KEYS TO RECEIVING THE ANOINTING
Matthew 29:11  29“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
Job 29:16  “I was a father to the needy, And I investigated the case which I did not know.
Job’s established position of honor was established because he was lowly and humble in his heart.  Job’s HUMILITY is the first key to receiving the anointing.  Job was kind and compassionate just like Jesus was.
James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
Job went out into the market place and delivered the poor.  The one who cried out, the one who was oppressed, the one who could not see, the one who could not walk; he took time for them.  We see his HEART OF COMPASSION and this is the second key to receiving the anointing.
Psalm 69:30,32-34  -  I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify Him with thanksgiving.  The humble shall see this, and be glad:  and your heart shall live that seek God.  For the Lord heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners.  Let the heaven and earth praise Him, the seas, and everything that moveth therein.

The Month of Nissan
Judah Goes First
The Scriptures (The Holy Bible) speaks more of the Tribe of Judah than any other Tribe of Israel. To understand why this is, we need to go back in history. Back to Genesis.
Judah was the fourth son of Jacob by his first wife, Leah (Genesis 29:35). Judah married a Canaanite woman, the daughter of Shua and they had three sons, Er, Onan and Shelah.
Er, the firstborn of Judah, married Tamar, but the Scriptures tells us that he was evil and God took his life (Genesis 38:6-7). Judah commanded his second-born son, Onan, to marry Tamar and produce an heir for his deceased brother as God’s laws commanded. However, Onan did not carry out God’s command because the child would not be his heir, hence, God took Onan’s life for his refusal to give his brother an heir (Genesis 38:8-10).
The story of Judah and Tamar is found in Genesis chapter 38. This chapter indicates that Tamar became pregnant by Judah (his daughter in law see Genesis 38:11-30 to see how this came to be), and she conceived twins. When Tamar was giving birth, one twin put out his hand first and the midwife tied a scarlet thread on it and said, “This one came out first.” But the other twin, Perez, came out unexpectedly followed by Zerah with the scarlet thread tied on his hand (Genesis 38:27-30).
God used the birth of these two twins to establish two lines of genealogy in the tribe of Judah, hence fulfilling a promise God made to Abraham stating the following; “and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”(Genesis 12:3 KJV). This promise would come through the line of Perez. King David and the kings of Judah would descend through the line of Perez. But what is more important is that Jesus, Yeshua, would come through the line of Perez so “all the families of the earth shall be blessed” (Genesis 12:3 & Matthew 1:3, 16).
The Apostle Paul said the following, “Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.” (Galatians 3:16).
Genesis 49:1 tells us that Jacob, in his death bed, gave a word to his sons saying; “And Jacob called unto his sons, and said, Gather yourselves together, that I may tell you that which shall befall you in the last days.” But Genesis 49:8-10 tells us specifically what Jacob spoke about his son Judah saying; “8- Judah, thou art he whom thy brethren shall praise: thy hand shall be in the neck of thine enemies; thy father's children shall bow down before thee. 9- Judah is a lion's whelp: from the prey, my son, thou art gone up: he stooped down, he couched as a lion, and as an old lion; who shall rouse him up? 10- The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor a lawgiver from between his feet, until Shiloh come; and unto him shall the gathering of the people be.” 
This passage indicates to us that God looked upon Judah as His ‘strong warrior’ likening Judah as a ‘young lion’ sleeping after devouring its prey. The point is that whatever God saw in the tribe Judah, He, God, choose it to be His lawgiver and choose Judah as the tribe from which Messiah would come to be born as Hebrews 7:14 tells us; “For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.” (KJV) To give greater merit and weight to the importance of Judah, Yeshua is called “the Lion of the Tribe of Judah” in Revelations 5:5 that reads; “And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” 
King David the Psalmist was compelled and moved to emphasize Judah’s role as a lawgiver when he wrote twice “Judah is my lawgiver” in Psalms 69:7 and 108:8, repeating the exact same scripture.
Judah wasn’t only a ‘lawgiver’, but a ‘Preserver of God’s Written Laws.’ The apostle Paul makes this very clear in Romans 31:1-2 when he states the following; “1- What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision? 2- Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.”
Throughout history, the Jews have faithfully and zealously preserved the Old Testament as well as the Hebrew Calendar that God gave them in the Torah (First five books of the Bible).
The tribe of Judah prevailed above his brothers due to an event written in Numbers 1:2-3 and 27 during Moses leadership where Judah was the leading tribe in population as well as strong men who could go to war hence ‘prevailing over his brothers.
‘JUDAH GOES FIRST’
Soon after Joshua’s death, God choose the tribe of Judah to lead the rest of the tribes in the conquering of the Promise Land. The tribe of Judah demonstrated their aggressive willingness and strong determination to drive out the Canaanites and take possession of the southern part of the land of Canaan. Furthermore, Judah prevailed over his brothers during a most famous descendant born to through the line of Judah named David. King David set the stage for the temple to be built on Mount Zion (Jerusalem) as Psalms 78:67-70 tells us; “67- Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim: 68- But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved. 69- And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established forever. 70- He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:”. King David was also chosen by God to hold the ‘scepter’, representing and a symbolisms that the kingship would always remain with the tribe of Judah according to Genesis 49:10 and Psalms 89: 34-37.

Judah is the king (the "first") of the tribes of Israel. His name means to give thanks, in speech (the sense of Nissan). The king rules his people by the power of his speech. The month of Nissan is "the new year for kings".
Judah ‘Arah’ lion - shows great strength; ‘hand will be in the neck of your enemies.’ God has given you power over all that the enemy brings against you. When you come into maturity ‘Lebaowth’ characteristics of greatness will be seen. You remain sitting and observing quietly, while the young race about wildly in anxiety and confusion.

Emerald is green in color. It means to glisten and shine. Emerald is symbolic of immortality. The eternal royalty of the house of David, which is fulfilled in Yeshua, Jesus. The Tribe of Judah developed through much suffering and enduring hard trials and testing’s as seen in Genesis 38. It takes a lifetime to make a saint and it takes a lifetime to perfect this tribe to bring him into the likeness of Jesus Christ. Judah the gemstone of priesthood and royalty.

First Reading Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 He was looking forward to the city whose architect and maker is God.
Brothers and sisters: Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen. Because of it the ancients were well attested.
By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance; he went out, not knowing where he was to go. By faith he sojourned in the promised land as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, heirs of the same promise; for he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and maker is God. By faith he received power to generate, even though he was past the normal age –and Sarah herself was sterile – for he thought that the one who had made the promise was trustworthy. So it was that there came forth from one man, himself as good as dead, descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sands on the seashore. All these died in faith. They did not receive what had been promised but saw it and greeted it from afar and acknowledged themselves to be strangers and aliens on earth, for those who speak thus show that they are seeking a homeland. If they had been thinking of the land from which they had come, they would have had opportunity to return. But now they desire a better homeland, a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.
By faith Abraham, when put to the test, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was ready to offer his only son, of whom it was said, Through Isaac descendants shall bear your name. He reasoned that God was able to raise even from the dead, and he received Isaac back as a symbol.
