Posted @withregram • @purple_thumb_renovations We easily put on 10lbs while working on our latest project! Our clients were super fun to work with and we left on full stomach every day! We’re so #blessed as we felt like part of the family! This #basement #inlawsuite was in serious need of an overhaul. The code violations, (by no fault of our client) were abundant; but with a plan and a little elbow grease this is now a safe, functional and beautiful living space! We utilized every allowable nook a cranny to maximize storage, starting with the relocation of the laundry to a hideaway closet. This move gave us the opportunity to double the counter space with ample cabinetry and create a pass through window allowing plenty of natural sunlight to flow into the living room from the kitchen window. Adieu good friend, we will meet another day. 😢 On a brighter note....these custom stairs...sexy. Dead sexy. With a revealing bullnose, (rounded edge), it gives a warm pop and a sharp contrast to a crisp white stringer (stair supports). Here are our tips for keeping the renovation on track and the spark alive! Team up on single tasks. For example, take measurements while your partner makes the cuts, and you’ll blow through your to-do list in no time! Understanding goes a long way! Sometimes one partner may be a little more experienced than the other when it comes to this kind of stuff, so be patient and explain as you go; your partner will appreciate not being left in the dark. Divvy up the tasks you love! You may like painting baseboards while your partner enjoys rolling the walls. Divide and conquer on the fun jobs. Mix business with pleasure! Sometimes you just need to put the tools down and reconnect. A simple kiss or a hug can go a long way. More-depending on how many safe horizontal surfaces you’ve got! 😂 Have fun! It looks as though whoever installed the plumbing (we’re assuming sometime in the 80’s) had to prioritize the location of the toilet-or the structural integrity for rear support beam of the house. By the looks of it-he or she had a saw in hand, and reeeaaalllllllyyy had to “go”!
