The apartment was so fucking quiet. The world outside still in the throes of waking, even the birds barely making their usual racket. John-Paul was soaking up the calm, smoking a morning cigarette, loving the solitude, planning his day - a very long one that consisted mostly of work for Sada, day trip included. This wasn't his first rodeo picking up a package for her, and usually he would have already been on the road, but it was Charlie's birthday and JP couldn't think of a better gift for her thirteenth birthday than a little getaway. So he was bringing her along.

He took his last drag and put out his cigarette, waving the lingering smoke away as he got up to go wake up his sister. "Hey," he said softly, shaking her gently. "Wakey wakey. It's your birthday," he went on, rousing her from her slumber. "You're getting one of your gifts early so get ready and come to the kitchen," he told once he was sure she was aware enough to hear him, giving her an excited smile before turning to leave her room.

It's a hair away from being half as horrific as the latest encounter I entered into where my very life was being balanced before my eyes, where I too was faced with what epitaph I would inspire, the memories that would become the remaining embers to my existence.

roman was reading over one of the recent scouting reports as charlie moved about their small kitchen, wiping down counters and putting dishes into the sink. it'd been his night to cook, her night to clean. thankfully for her sake charlie had managed to teach him a thing or two in the years they'd been together and roman had produced something that could pass as a healthy meal. the days of eating expired cans of soup and beans passed when they got the farm up and running. they were just lucky the community was small enough they'd scraped by, even when the crops didn't fully pan out. he looked up from the notes to catch charlie's eye and give her a soft smile.

"i had to make a deal with the kids. i said i'd swing by the farm with them after the wedding if they could sit through the ceremony." there was a pregnant horse that june had been fascinated with and adam was just happy to chase the chickens until the sun went down. "--does that count as a bribe? am i bribing our kids?"

Charlie seem to as usual be running around helping with the food and drinks and now with an additional rascal in her arms perhaps already tired from being on his feet, Ash wasn't sure if he's seen her sit down yet today. "Want a quick arm break? Maisie’s off playing with June." Ashton came over to her, greeting Adam in her arms with a ruffle of his hair.

"C'mon you literally haven't eaten yet, I can carry him for a moment," he offered, hoping to free her hands for just a little while and to hang out together after a hectic week of wedding preparations and the best news of his life seeing his mother again. But today for most people the work was done for the wedding, she should get to enjoy the celebrations too.

Sher has spent the past few days trying to write a new song, not something to top the charts but to give some levity to the residents of the Wexley, but she couldn't get past her writer's block. Finally she decided that maybe a fresh set of ears will help and remembered that she gave charlie a few guitar lessons before the outbreak and maybe it’s time to get back to it.

So she picked up her guitar, which she cleaned to the best of her ability, and walked down to the rose residence. Knocking on the door and playing a small tune as it opens “hey! Don’t think I forgot my favorite student! You have some free time to jam out?”

👥 The Roses

He's been trying out various nicknames on the Rose siblings since meeting them. The broses, j^2, big j and little j, charlie's angels, charlie brown and the peanuts. He usually gets an elbow to the ribs in return but Tad's gotten better at dodging them over the years.

At a certain point he realized he was closer to Jeremiah and Jp than he was to his own brother. That wasn't saying much, the bar was pretty low to begin with, but it still brought a wave of appreciation for the awkward 'friendship' he had with the the Rose men.

Keeps a sticker chart for Jeremiah. He gets a star every time he has a chance to be an asshole but doesn't. It's been taped together a few times after Jer snatched it and tore it to pieces.

He's covered for Jp once or twice with Sada. Tad feels he gets off easier so if he catches wind of a mistake or slip-up that he could take credit for he will. If it's something major he'll leave it to JP to deal with himself but Tad knows the kid's had a hard life and seems to take the hits a little harder than his brother.
