-Transformers is such a different world when it comes to gender and anatomy because Arcee can usually cross her arms across her chest just fine including IDW1 and Terminator Arcees who have the most protruding chest except for Q-Transformers Arcee whose torso is the chest basically but all the Q-Transformer cars are like that. Her girlfriend Aileron who is chubby and buff can cross her arms fine. Meanwhile on the other hand the average car Prowl (canonically a guy so far) with lanky big ankle proportions except for his massive and broad chest cannot do that. want to show this in toy form someday when we get an official or unlicensed aileron toy (our close to proportion accurate Aileron custom can't twist her arms sadly)

Hey! Do you have any Transformers OC tips? I'm trying to design a pair for the first time... ever and am scared that I'm like, doing too much. (I've never designed anything robotic, tbh)

There is no need to be scared, though it is a feeling I completely understand.

When I started creating TF OCs for the first time during my teen years, I made them look very human with all sorts of random bits and bobs attached to them that made no real sense. I overdetailed. And you know what? It worked just fine!

Don't overcomplicate it in your head, and try not to think of the design as robotic if that's too overwhelming.

They are humanoid; they have a head, torso, arms, and legs, just like you and me. Drawing robots that transform into a vehicle, animal, or whatever else requires a little bit of experimentation, but that's part of the process. Draw your humanoid base and then start placing the vehicle/animal/whatever else parts onto it. Give them kibble, which is mostly attached to the back but can also be on their shoulders, arms, and legs. Heck, in some series, they don't have much kibble at all!

The beauty here is that you can draw any OC however you like. Simple or complicated, it doesn't matter! Just look at Optimus in different series:

There are so many different styles and levels of detail, and they are all okay.

And the best part is, us OC creators don't have to worry about our OC designs supporting actual transformation. Unless you're actually planning on creating a workable toy or a 3D model with a transformation sequence, you don't have to break your brain over which parts/kibble goes where.

Be comfortable with your own OC because that will bring the best results. Use your references, experiment, redesign, tweak, and so forth. Go with what you yourself can handle because you'll be the one drawing these OCs. Think the detail is too much? Scale it back. Like to torment yourself? Go for it.

TFP Ratchet x Fembot reader, where on Cybertron they both had a sparkling, but when the war started the Sparkling was taken away from them along with other Sparklings to train them for war, on earth the reader is pregnant, and when the episode where Bee are taken away from her C-cogs, Ratchet wants to give him his, but when Bee goes on the mission, and Ratchet goes for him, the Reader ends up telling why Ratchet wants to save Bee, since their Sparkling died in Ratchet's arms due to a Decepticon attack in the war from Cybertron. , Ratchet had to try to save his son in the infirmary only for him to die due to lack of energy, Ratchet still blames himself for his death same as the reader

⚕️ As the Decepticons neared their goal day by day, you grew more and more worried for your sparkmate's stability. He hadn't been recharging as much as he should and the amount of injuries coming in certainly weren't helping any

⚕️ You were helping Ratchet out in the med-bay when you heard Bulkhead come inside while Bumblebee... walked? Why wasn't he in his vehicle mode instead?

"Bumblebee, Bulkhead? What's wrong?" You asked, making Ratchet look up from the screen and cock an optical ridge like you.

"Bee said he couldn't roll out. I don't know what's wrong with him."

⚕️ Looking from the large green-mech, you looked at the young yellow one and nodded, motioning for him to take a step onto the metal 'bed' for him to lay on for a scanning

⚕️ You were concerned as Optimus stood beside you, resting a servo on your shoulder pad and attempted to keep you from bursting with emotions. He understood why you were acting more worried than ever

"You can fix Bee, can't you?" Rafael asked, looking up at the medical bot with a matching concerned face.

"Bumblebee was hit pretty hard. The stun-blast may have fried his T-Cog." He answered, resuming with another scan.

"Is that like a T-Bone?" Miko asked.

"Not exactly. It's the organ that allows us to scan vehicles and transform." Arcee answered while you busied yourself making sure nothing was outwardly wrong with Bee.

⚕️ The beeping of results coming in made you all look up at the screens behind Ratchet, and you pat Optimus' servo with yours to reassure him you were fine, allowing him to nod and take it back to his side

"By the Allspark..." Ratchet began, "Bumblebee's T-Cog isn't damaged. It's missing."

"But the Decepticons transform too. Why would they steal that?" Jack asked, saying what you all were thinking.

"Megatron may be known to raise zombies but he's no ghoul."

"If Megatron wasn't behind this... then who was?" Raf asked again.

⚕️ As you began to wonder just who, any Decepticon, or even a rogue Autobot would do such a thing for greed, Bulkhead gave you the one group you wouldn't think of

"The ones who cannibalized Breakdown."

"And tried to gut me." Arcee added.

"M.E.C.H. And it would appear their knowledge of Cybertronian bio-tech has grown sophisticated."

"But why would they want Bumblebee's part?" The youngest human once again pried, being followed by Bumblebee's impaired beeping he used for speech.

⚕️ As Bumblebee stood and began to walk away, Optimus moved slightly from your side and laid a servo on his chest plate, making him stop walking forward like he once planned

"Bumblebee, please. You are not presently equipped to handle this." He said, making the youth bleep back at him.

"You are mistaken, my friend. I do know what it's like to lose a vital part of ones self. And, as a result, I know the value of putting ones faith in the strength of those around you. We vow to do everything in our power to make you whole again."

"And if not, Ratchet can just make you a new Cog-thing, right?" Miko asked.

⚕️ You could feel the frustration radiating off of Bumblebee as he groaned glitchily and sat back down on the berth, his helm in his servos

"What'd I say?"

"Miko, a T-Cog is a bio-mechanism not a scrapyard find. If it were that easy, don't you think I would've replaced Bumblebee's voice box by now."

⚕️ You made your voice known among the others as you replied with your own response

"Losing a T-Cog is like you humans losing your liver. You cannot just make a new one from scrap after losing it and put it inside you like nothing ever happened."

⚕️ Bee's beeping became more erratic as he spoke, making Raf step forward and begin trying to make the mech's mood lighten up a bit. After all, he was still the same adorable Cybertronian without such an important part of his biology. Unfortunately, Bee was having none of it and began moping heavier by the second

⚕️ As the others spoke of ideas for helping out Bee, you just hoped this nightmare would be over soon

⚕️ Everyone in the base could tell that Bumblebee was beginning to lose his patience, he had been far more snappy and acting like how Miko would call it, 'a typical earthly-teenager' would, which only upset the bot more

⚕️ You noticed how protective Ratchet had grown towards Bee when he tried leaving for a 'walk'. And while normally you would just sigh and chuckle at the actions, this time, you saw how deeply this was hurting Ratchet and Bee. Bee was hurting for more obvious reasons, but Ratchet was one only you and Optimus knew about

⚕️ And after the... predicament with Ratchet being unconscious while the rest of the group, minus Bumblebee, you, and the kids, went off to find an Iacon relic, everyone was shocked when he yelled about Bee going off on his own

⚕️ It was only days after Bee's T-Cog got repaired after being blown to near-scrap by Starscream that the kids asked you why Ratchet seemingly lost himself worrying after Bee

⚕️ You currently had the three kids in your alt mode, an Koenigsegg CCR, and were telling them a short story of your first day on their home planet, making them laugh at how oblivious you once were

"Hey Y/N, can I ask you something personal?" Raf asked, shifting nervously in the passenger seat while Miko took her headphones out and sat up to listen.

"Go right on ahead, kiddo."

"Ratchet cares about the team, and I know that! But, why did he seem so much more- protective over Bee while his T-Cog was gone?"

"Yeah! He acted like he was Bee's dad or something!" Miko chirped in.

"Miko!" Jack yelled.

"It's alright, Jack. I suppose you kids should know since you're practically members of our small family." You began, making the two boys and girl look at your radio with curiosity.

⚕️ You shook off any feeling of nervousness and began to speak your story, radiating everything off of your spark, allowing the kids to back out of hearing the tragedy any time

"Back on Cybertron, there were two Cybertronians. And in a similar way you humans do, they had a what you call 'child'. The two were very happy to bring such a cute and valuable part of their kind into the universe. And, swearing on their sparks, they would make sure they lived a happy life."

⚕️ Raf could hear your voice drop at the mention of a 'happy life' and so, in an effort to save you some pain, he finished your sentence

"And then the war broke out... right?"

"Yeah... the carrier, or mother in your terms, had taught him how to fight whilst the sire, or father, taught him how to heal himself and others if the time came. And it did, unfortunately."

⚕️ Flashbacks of watching an orange and white mech teaching a smaller, and more fragile one, how to weld an injury together began to come back to you, making you slow down more while driving

"While they tried their best to keep their child out of any major danger, when the Decepticons launched an attack on the building they were staged in, he ended up getting severely wounded, to the point where it took nearly ten medics and doctors to help the large number of harmed members heal quick enough for a rebuttal."

⚕️ Jack looked down while Miko looked visibly saddened and Raf tried to stay calm as you continued

"The father Cybertronian had tried healing the young one, attempting to close up any major wound until he could receive proper treatment... but that... didn't work that well."

"I'm gonna guess that the father Cybertronian was Ratchet and the mother was you, right Y/N?" Jack asked.

"You'd be correct. Ever since the day that Ratchet and I lost him, I couldn't stand the mere mention of his name."

"What was his name?" Miko asked kindly, attempted to sound far less curious then she was.

"We named him Ultrasound. Since he seemingly could hear so much more than he should have when he was young." You said, a small laugh coming from you and the kids.

"Hey Y/N... do you think Ratchet sees Ultrasound in Bumblebee?" Raf asked.

"It's quite possible. I see him inside him as well. The way he pouted reminded me of when Ratchet would tell Ultra to go to his quarters because he did something bad. I believe that Ratchet does see our offspring in Bumblebee, though, you may need to ask him yourself." You finished, before telling them it was time to get them home for the night.

⚕️ They all nodded and sat patiently as you began to drive them home, dropping off Jack, then Miko, and finally Raf off at their homes

⚕️ But, before Raf went inside and probably to bed, he looked at your radio again and said something that would stay with you until the end of your time living

"I think Ultrasound is always with you, like what my mother always told me. Someone isn't fully gone, there's always a part of them with you. Whether it be in your heart, or I guess spark for you guys, or in your memories."

⚕️ You hummed and giggled at Raf's maturity before opening your door for him to get inside his home

"Thank you for the advice, oh wise Rafael. Now, get in your home. Your mother's probably worried."

"No problem, and thanks again Y/N. You must've been a great parent."

⚕️ You were shocked as he stepped out and ran into his house to speak to his mother about why he was slightly late home, he was probably going to say that his friend needed some help understanding some homework

⚕️ Once you arrived back at the base and looked at your sparkmate working away, the memory of him holding Ultrasound in his arms, smiling down at the newly-made Cybertronian, made you give a matching one and walk up to hug him

⚕️ Ratchet looked at you and smiled, wrapping an arm around your back, pulling you into his grasp. Oh he wished this war would be over so you both could live once again like normal beings and not helpers in such a violent time

"I love you, Ratchet."

"I love you too, Y/N."

17. Have your thoughts on a particular Transformers continuity and/or character ever dramatically shifted? If so, how has your opinion changed?

I don't think the same about IDW1 phase 2 now, or its Soundwave (or his relationship with the cassettes) now haha. But when I was first reading, I quite liked it xD.

With the cassettes, after reading Marvel G1 I was like... why does every TF media demote the cassettes to just being Soundwave's minions!?!?! Why can't they be their own persons again q-q??? (Thank you ES for Frenzy and Laserbeak...)

I did read IDW1 largely by its published date order, but I think I didn't really grasp a lot of what it said or presented. If I were to talk about said comic in-depth, I'd have to reread it (and its sister series) entirely... but I don't feel like doing that rn.

Soundwave deciding to betray Ratbat out of cold pragmatism is far superior than him dishing out some kind of karmic justice. (Neither story would care about the ramifications of this for Ratbat himself, though.) All the retcons are just... absurd/unbelievable to me (I like most of the originals better... and trying to smooth inconsistencies between them just falls flat to me). Decepticons being originally for equality against Autobot oppressors just... ehh; it's an uninteresting subversion of expectations. I don't like Decepticons being the revolutionaries who went too far cliché (and it puts Autobots in such a weird position).

Phase 2 has like, one of the most extensive insights into Soundwave's mind though, so while it's not my favorite iteration of him there are some things I do like from it.

The other continuity my thoughts have changed a lot on would be Prime. It was my first and favorite Transformers show, but as I delved more into TF... I realized that it really paled in comparison to a lot of other TF media. Like... all the Decepticons had terrible "arcs" (can't recall the Autobots' off of the top of my head). I also don't like how the Decepticons are structured in this show.

I'd later watch the live-action movies, so being able to recognize its actually very, very obvious influence on Prime sucks. Arcee, for example.

24. Obscure, neglected, or otherwise unpopular character(s) that you like?

Marvel G1 Siren... I don't even know how to describe him, but I quite enjoy watching his bad luck.

Minerva from Super-God Masterforce. Her design is very cool and I like her strong sense of right and wrong / her voice of reason.

(I also like Cancer, Browning, and Mega from this show.)

27. Favorite altmode?

This one's hard... I'm NOT gonna say the beloved anachronistic tape deck...

This has to either be Shockwave's ray gun altmode or Galvatron's particle cannon altmode. I guess I find guns that can be fired by themselves to be cool xD.

Didn't have a chance to say this sooner due to preparing for a new job and attending TFCon Baltimore, but we really liked Season 3 of Earthspark, that and the Season 2 finale answered many of things we were hoping to be resolved from Season 1 with a resplendent glory and touching depth. Terratronus and the stuff she can do with the Terrans is so cool, and it was nice to see Elita and Arcee actually talk to each other, including about something they went through (also erm well the homoeroticism in that specific episode between the adult characters was great), and um yeah we don't want to spoil too much but this season was really the Steven Universe of Transformers (highly complimentary) and Nightshade got to have a much larger role again (and honestly is up there in terms of near godly powers like the one human antagonist from Season 2 and 3, who is basically a capitalist Q?)

Originally I was planning to draw this Alphabetically but I'm struggling to draw Arcee and even attempted to draw Alpha Trion... But Bumblebee is more fun to draw

Out of all the Transformers iterations, Bayverse Autobots and Decepticons are most likely to get turned into Bakugan. The old school style toys with more simplified play style. Not the shitty reboots that get worse every time.

Both sides would HATE it cause they are tiny gumball sized toys with barely little resemblance to themselves in ball/toy form. All the colorless gray bots get a new paint job as attributes are given at random. The more aggressive ones like Ironhide or Megatron take it a lot worse as a pockets have become the equivalent of baby jail.

Want to make the situation even more chaotic? Put all of them under a single human's care and said person being the only one who can allow them to (temporarily) assume their true form. A very weird situation since the game there is completely normal card game, not the TV show/videogame variants.

The war definitely ain't continuing unless the newly dubbed 'Bakugan Bots' or 'Bakubots' want to get thrown in the time-out for misbehaving. Let them get forced to get along for two years as forced found family is hilarious. Then toss everyone into a different Transformers iteration and watch the fireworks.

Bakubots alongside their human partner trying to survive as these versions aren't stuck in a toy form plus but are still fighting too. Meanwhile both factions are so fucking confused by this strange fleshie who can summon peculiar Cybertronians that radiate strange energy. (And share very familiar names or similar behavior.)

I love chaos plus this thought wouldn't leave me alone. Lol

-Q and Wheeljack are separate bots, not the same person.

-Only faction aligned bots are in this situation. Neutral such as Scourge aren't. Sentinel ain't here since he takes advantage of both factions and thus Neutral Evil. Fallen is also Neutral Evil.

-Minicons/Cassettes function as Bakugan Traps. Thus they have multiple elements to benefit from Ability and Gate Cards in return for their non-existent power.

-Size doesn't equal strength. Only power/Gs matter in a fight.

-Gate Cards can be set whenever and wherever. Only 3 are allowed out so one has to activate before another can be added.

-What each Attribute is. Pyrus: Fire, Aquos: Water, Haos: Light, Ventus: Wind, Darkus: Dark and Subterra: Earth.

Bracket Be Upon Ye

This was really hard to seed because I know half of them will be eliminated round 1 but I don't really want any of them to lose lol. I ended up deciding to dedicate entire quarters to (mostly) yaoi or (mostly) yuri, with yaoi and yuri only going up against each other starting in the semifinals. This is just because most of the yaoi pairings are more popular and if I seeded solely on popularity most of the yuri would be eliminated immediately.

(I'm not trying to misgender Raine, and I'm not gonna label that specific pairing "yaoi" or "yuri"; it's just their partner is a woman and there's no easy way to split up the contestants otherwise.)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who isn't really a fan of Primus' existence in transformers lore. The worst of it was Rung being Primus in IDW1. That shit made me roll my eyes so hard. Personally, I think Cybertronians being a product of the Quintessons (like in the sunbow cartoon) is a far more interesting origin for their species.

I don't necessarily mind the idea, though I would never personally use it. However, I find it absolutely hilarious that Simon Furman, the guy who hates female Transformers because it "doesn't make sense for robots to have gender, but I'll never get annoyed at male identifying robots because I consider women to be aberrant and am just fine with alienating female readers and colleagues" (there were multiple women who wrote Sunbow episodes, including Diane Duane, not to mention how Ron Friedman pushed for Arcee to exist for his daughter), went on to create robot Christianity... Which makes just as much sense as robot genders. He also wrote demons too! But GIRL ROBOTS?! Well! We have to draw the line somewhere!

The 13 Primes introduced in the Aligned continuity is just Jesus and the 12 Apostles.

For me, I would not use robot Christianity because, while I like both sci-fi and fantasy, I actually don't like to cross the streams too much in my own work. How much Transformers falls between sci-fi/science-fantasy/fantasy really depends on the writer and I just personally prefer it as sci-fi. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy it. There's some great speculative fiction that straddles the line. It's just not for me to use. I am of the opinion that James Roberts did not handle it very well, particularly when he brought characters back from the dead (Lug and Tailgate's revivals were pretty bad, especially Tailgate's. I have made an edit where, instead of the Magnificence, it's a Dragon Ball). The cringiest part is perhaps the fact Primus is the character that many believe is his self-insert. He even knows that people believe this, implied in a Q&A when he tried to say Chromedome is the character he most strongly identifies with (yikes!!). I am not above self-inserts, but I wouldn't make them God!

I do very much like the Sunbow origin story with the Quintessons and gives some very interesting ideas on how Cybertronian history developed as a result. That is what I will always default to whenever writing my own Transformers fanfiction. Now! I do find the concept of Quintessons finding Cybertron with this robot people already there proceeding to colonize and enslave them interesting and, in the process, Cybertronians lose their history and so maybe there's a Primus. However, no one truly knows. (If Primus did exist, rather than a deity, he's an original Cybertronian that all future Cybertronians were then copied/improved upon, even doing the building himself! Perhaps mythologized/idealized over the millenia, but none of this sci-fi flavored Christianity stuff.)

I also like the Matrix as a supercomputer that has become so advanced and powerful over the many millennia that it's hard to know if it's science or magic.

Excuse this, when I learn to format and make those tiny screen captures I don't know, I'm a honorable grandma. But it just triggered the Gameplay Rant.

So. The thing is, Tracks is not exactly a triple changer, but due to the lack of other information he might as well be.

Essence, the system Hasbro's official licensed RPGs run on, does not have either a singular class or a dual race/class system. The basic Essence requires a character to have essentially, heh, backstory/motivation, additional backstory/job and role/specialization. But there comes in the first piece of clunk, as two of three categories appear basically redundant in Transformers' edition specifically. But that's not the issue today.

The second piece of clunk, which brought us the problem of Tracks, is that one of the roles/jobs/classes is Modemaster, which encompasses... Triple & more Changers AND Soundwave/Blaster type tape decks. If this seems counterintuitive, well, we're in the same boat. I think the original idea was "doing a lot of unusual things with altmodes", but to dump people with multiple alts and people with partners and minions into the same class is just...

Anyway. While Tracks basically is never mentioned otherwise, he is specifically noted as a Modemaster, and while the class technically may include people with unusual altmode elements like wings on a car, it is equally possible that Tracks is one of the two other notable unrelated archetypes, and since Tracks is definitely is not a cassette player, he must be a Triple Changer instead.

It might be a joke, if Tracks was mentioned literally anywhere else aside from this one time and some illustrations. Gnaw the Sharkticon has more flavor text!

Quite besadly, Llyra was only mentioned in a letter by Hi-Q as having being binary-bonded. Whoever her partner is, I can only say it's not Arcee, as Leniad - the name of Arcee's headmaster unit from Titans Return toyline and Daniel backwards, as the toy homages the cartoon finale - is mentioned right before her in the same sentence.

Hauler is one of the Devastator's Autobot components, but the others are Wideload, Quickmix and Scoop. Scoop is there because of IDW1, where he replaced Prowl, while the other three are a Beast Wars Uprising reference (yes, Hauler included) - they formed Devastator there too, and other Uprising Constructicons are mentioned right before as Decepticons. Sorenson's writing, you see.

Things that happened in the Official Transformers RPG's lore.

So, I've got my hands on all three rulebooks of the official TF RPG. And also the G. I. Joe RPG, but that's irrelevant right now. My batch did not include the crossover rulebook, sadly.

Therefore, notes on the lore and other details in the "basic" canon, because TFWiki did not go into the details, that grew into this list of odd events mentioned.

First thing first, the general continuity is very close to Cyberverse or G1 Fanon, having the basic outline of G1 cartoon, but with details and chunks of backstory pulled from elsewhere - Optimus is a former archivist/data clerk, Bumblebee is a sportscar, et cetera.

To note, there's a somewhat short introductory "who-is-who" list and basic character sheets with profiles both.

Well, I've already got my whiplash, so it's your turn now.

There's something very funky going on with Devastator. Prowl's introduction blurb directly states that something Combiner Wars-esque/Prowlstator has happened, and reads as implying that Autobots hijacked Devastator. By all accounts, Scrapper is alive, making it a possible genuine canonical instance of Prowlastator with Scrapper alive, but the Constructions as whole are placed with the Decepticons. But, Tergamax mentions that among people that were at any moment replacement parts of Devastator there were five Autobots, Prowl included. What happened?

The "who is who" listing for Autobots includes declarations of jobs/roles/traits. Some of these are notable: 1) Ironhide is a chemist 2) Swerve is in Public Relations 3) Rung is Psy-Ops 4) Perceptor is specifically an engineer 5) Bumblebee is noted as "Hero of the People". Must be popular.

Speaking of roles, monochromatic SIC of the day is Jazz, who is also a strategist now.

All of the people in the introductory list are implied to be the Ark crew, and there are problems regarding space travel for Autobots right now. This means that Anode, Lug, those two kids from IDW2, Elita's team and Glyph are on the crew.

Rattrap is a Decepticon.

Optimus Prime has a thick Iaconian accent in Cybertronian. It turns "Teletraan" into "Teletron".

Character sheets include a list of languages that character speaks. Some of these past the standart English+Cybertronian are completely random. Optimus Prime speaks Dutch. Korean is surprisingly popular. In what could be a nice callback, Slingshot has Arabic. The only two people who know the language of newly-introduced alien species of Catharsians are Ratchet and Wildrider. But the crown is taken by First Aid, who has both ASL and Quileute. Yes, the basically extint language of a small tribe warring legally with Stephanie Meyer.

Speaking of languages, both Megatron and Shockwave are noted passable polyglots, and both lack the Universal Translator perk Soundwave, Blaster and Perceptor have. But while Megatron has vague but limited "languages from across Decepticon territory", Shockwave has "all common languages", implying he knows at least a bit of almost everything manually.

Tracks is a triple changer, apparently.

Decepticons' thing is mass-producing sparkless drone clones of their own members.

There's a general threat level system with lists included, where 0 is a random human civilian, 24 is Optimus and Megatron, and 25 is Omega Supreme and Scorponok. Chosen numbers for some characters are thought-provoking. Jazz is 14. Ratchet is 15. First Aid is 9. Wildrider is 6. Ironhide and Starscream are tied with 17. Lord Zarak by himself is 10.

Transformers The Movie sort-of happened, with no apparent notable casualties except for Megatron, who got Galvatroned, but there is a chance that Cyclonus, while a minion of Unicron, predates those events. He is also in an odd position of formally being a part of Decepticons and not the followers of Unicron, who are technically a separate faction.

Scorponok and Deathsaurus are member of Decepticon High Command/Conclave along with Shockwave and Soundwave. Nobody trusts Starscream, so he is not there, but he has the air force.

Mindwipe is, once again, a sorcerer.

Predacons, the combiner team, somehow adopted a sharkticon.

The evil plan du jour of, apparently, pre-Unicron era is converting Earth into the second Cybertron via several colony sites.
