I've been doing a fair amount of research this morning into Persian miniature painting which dates back as far as the 13th Century. Although more modern (maybe 19th Century - 1950's - it's difficult to date), these beautiful hand painted Persian Qajar miniatures on mother of pearl needed a fair bit of restoration. Paintings in this style often depict Persian culture, poetry and folk stories or traditional tribal/clan life or notable individuals such as dervishes, royalty or poets. Originally from a broken bracelet, they are quite citrine toned (most likely from old varnish), so the chips and scratches really stood out. I've used alcohol inks and tiny amount of acrylic to fill in the gaps so you can't tell. Each picture is less than 2.5 cm tall and would have been painted with cat hair or pigeon feathers. They are wire wrapped to brass hoops and decorated with salvaged vintage beads and Czech glass beads.
