Managing Life (Part 4/?)
Summary: Marinette has been Audrey Bourgeois' secretary ever since she voiced out her dream of having her own business. Audrey thinks that she should learn more about the nooks and crannies of running a fashion business. However, fate has other plans for her, and honestly, what can our resident guardian could do to counter fate?
Disclaimer: I do not own MLB or DCU.
Pairings: Dick Grayson/Marinette Dupain-Cheng
A/n: Well, here we are with another update. Special thanks to @mysnis for giving me the idea for this chapter in particular!
<Previous Chapter> <Next Chapter>
<Beginning>
Marinette had just finished the online meeting about the progress report from the main Style Queen branch in Paris. She huffed tiredly as she began to relax her overly stiffed body, a result from sitting for 5 hours straight for the meeting. She was going to lay on her bed when her phone started to ring.
She checked on who was calling her and to her surprise, it was Audrey. Curious, she picks up the call. "Madame? Do you need me to bake you more baked goods?" She asked in concern.
"Non non! Everything is perfect as usual! I'm just here to inform you that you have an interview with Brucie, tomorrow morning! I already made sure that your morning schedule is clear!"
"W-wait, What?" Marinette replied dumbly.
"Do I need to spell it out for you, Marinette? Tomorrow morning, you have an interview with Bruce Wayne. He was looking for a new secretary and you are currently looking for a new mentor! Fate, non?"
"F-fate?? Wait! That dinner! I knew you were planning something! Did you pimp me out to him???" Marinette accused while ruffling her hair nervously.
She could hear Audrey's signature shrill laugh from the other side of the connection, "Oh please, Pimping sounds so crude! I merely just help out my darling protege to find a mentor! Anyways, be ready tomorrow morning, Brucie kindly told me that his Butler shall pick you up at 8 A.M sharp! Wear one of your designs and don't bother getting your portfolio and resume together because I already sent a copy to him! Entendue? Good! Have a good night's rest, my dear! Ta~' Then she hung up.
Marinette looked at her phone in disbelief, she was utterly speechless. She has an interview with Bruce Wayne. She has an interview with Bruce Wayne. INTERVIEW! BRUCE WAYNE!
The young secretary's mind went overdrive and crashed immediately. Negative thoughts about the things that would happen and imaginative scenarios about how she would fail the interview, making a mockery of herself in front of one of the most powerful men in Gotham began to pop into her mind. She didn't even notice that she was hyperventilating were it not for the kwamis shouts around her.
"Breathe, Marinette!" Exclaimed Tikki in her ear.
Marinette began rebooting and she made sure to do the breathing exercise that her therapist had mentioned. Once she is calm enough, the fact that she has an interview tomorrow morning made her anxious again. She bolted out from her bed and began pacing.
"Oh, this is a disaster! Completely a disaster! I-i'm nowhere ready! Merde, what if I fall, what if I accidentally spill water on his expensive suit?! WHAT IF I MADE HIM UNCOMFORTABLE???!!" She panics.
The kwamis looked at each other, exasperated at their silly Guardian. They watched in amusement at Marinette's tirade.
"What if I made him hate me?! I might have to fake my death, change my identity and move somewhere remote! To bora-bora or somewhere in Southeast Asia?! Perhaps, Indonesia?! Yeah, that sounds like a good failsafe, I could even change my name, dyed my hair, and even get cosmetic surgery to alter my look! Maybe I should become a hermit in Tibet instead! YES! That's a good idea!"
Plagg sighed frustratedly at his kitten, and he decided to put a stop to this ridiculous rant. He zoomed in front of Marinette and slap her nose, "Get a hold of yourself, kitten. It's getting ridiculous.".
It worked instantly, the girl sucked a deep breath before letting out a huge sigh. "Sorry..." She mumbled softly. "I spiralled again, didn't I?" She meekly asked Plagg with a sheepish smile.
Plagg gave her a droll look, "Ya think? You even talked about getting plastic surgery and becoming a hermit in Tibet."
Marinette blushed in embarrassment, "Yeah, I don't know where that came from."
The other kwamis floated around Marinette, some were giggling and some were looking at her with an exasperated smile. Duusu flew forward and hugged Marinette's cheek. "It's going to be alright, peafowl! You are good at your job and I'm sure that the Wayne man was impressed with your achievements!"
"That's right, Marinette! I'm sure that you'll do fine in your interview! Besides, we're always there for you so you're never alone!" Tikki agreed.
Nooroo shyly floats forward, "I-if it made you feel better. I-i'll be honored to accompany you! P-perhaps my calmness could help!" He offered meekly.
Marinette smiled warmly and reached forward so that Nooro could perch on her palm. She brought him closer and gave the butterfly kwami a gentle kiss. "Thank you, Nooroo. You're such a dear." She complimented which made the said kwami blush.
Marinette then looks at the assembled kwami and smiles brightly at them. "Thank you, all of you. I don't know where would I be without you all."
"Crash and Burn?" Plagg snarks. "A complete mess?" Trixx added. "Rich but not as elegant!" pipes Kaalki. Tikki and Wayzz moved to them and gave all three a whack.
"Don't listen to them, Guardian. I'm sure without us you would be okay." Wayzz argued.
"But I'd be lonely. Either way, I'm glad that we could meet. I'm glad that fate brought me to you. I love you guys." Marinette said and they all share a big hug.
She doesn't know what will happen tomorrow, but with the kwami around, she felt like she could do anything. With her resolve set, she started to form a plan on how to tackle the interview tomorrow.
She can do this!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"I can't do this~" She whined miserably while hiding her face behind her hands. Currently, she's on her way to the Wayne Enterprise HQ. As Audrey had said Bruce's Butler, Alfred Pennyworth, picked her up at exactly 8 A.M. She wasn't late which was a good sign, she even made sure that she wore her best-designed dress! But after a few minutes sitting in Bruce Wayne's car, her anxiety had come back with gusto.
Alfred clears his throat to catch Marinette's attention. When the nervous girl looks up he gave her a warm smile. "What seems to be the problem, Ms Dupain-Cheng?" He asked kindly.
Marinette chewed her lips while her hands were fiddling together trying to keep herself grounded. "I-it's nothing, Mr Pennyworth. I'm just being silly, that's all."
Alfred hummed thoughtfully, "It must not be that silly since it's making you so nervous. Perhaps, I could give you a bit of advice if you want to talk about it?" he offered kindly.
The girl shrinks but then she felt an encouraging pat from her breast pocket. She looked downwards and was greeted by Nooro's encouraging smile. She let out a shaky sigh, "Well...I'm just nervous about this interview. Mme Bourgeois told me last night and I haven't prepared anything yet! I'm afraid of giving M Wayne the wrong impression. Not to mention, I had coincidentally met him at the park before and I did this stupid thing where I get to be this ridiculous know-it-all! Maybe I shouldn't do this interview." She whined to herself. Alfred smiled softly as he briefly glance at the ruffled-looking girl from the rearview mirror.
"Ms Dupain-Cheng, I think it is best if you take a deep breath and think about your next step and only the next step. You will never know whether you'll succeed or fail, right? Just one step, Ms Dupain-Cheng. Only one step." Advised the old butler while giving a knowing smile from the mirror. Marinette replied with a sheepish smile of her own.
She looks at her hands again and took a peek at Nooroo who was giving her a wide smile. She nodded to herself, took a deep breath, closes her eyes, and tries to clear her mind. Taking Alfred's words to heart she plans in her mind. She was going to do her best in the interview, she plans on what she was going to speak as an introduction and then she opened her eyes with renewed vigour.
She looks at Alfred and smiled brightly, "Thank you for your advice, sir. It definitely works." Her hands raised to her chest to cup the butterfly pendant that she had worn that day. "Just one step..." She whispered again for courage, then a whisper of a familiar voice added.
Do the next right thing.
She could feel her eyes beginning to water, somehow she could feel Master Fu's encouraging pat on her shoulder. A strange but familiar warmth surged to her whole body and she could feel her nerve starting to lessen. She will do the interview to her best ability. After all what's the worst thing that could happen?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The worst thing did kind of happened.
So, after thanking Alfred for driving her to Wayne Enterprise and for the advice Marinette walked bravely to the huge building. Everything was going well so far, she told the receptionist about her appointment and the nice lady showed her the way to Mr Wayne's office.
The worst thing happened when she walked out of the elevator and ran into someone, hard. Her nerve came again during the elevator ride and once the door opened she bolted out from the confined space, and barreled into someone, sending them both to the ground with a loud thud.
"O-oh my gosh! I-I'm so sorry! I-i wasn't looking." She stuttered apologetically as she moved away from the person.
The one whom she stumbled to turns out to be a man who seemed to be the same age as she was. The man shook his head and held out a hand to stop Marinette's stuttering. "It's...fine." He said politely with a smile. He picked himself up and look at Marinette with a calculating gaze. "Who are you?" He asked politely.
"I-i'm Marinette. I-i was here f-for the interview? W-with Mr Wayne?" She said unsurely. She could feel herself being judged under those scrutinizing eyes of his and Marinette unconsciously flinched.
The man hummed noncommittally. "The office is just down the hall. Good luck, I think you'll need it." He said with a bored tone.
That set Marinette off from her previous nervous self. "And what makes you think I'll need it?" A hint of sass bleeds through in her tone. The man blinked, clearly unexpected to see a change of tone from Marinette.
"Oh, I'm not implying anything! It's just..." The man trailed off his words, his eyes darting around the room trying to think of a more polite way to voice his 'concerns'. "Look, I'm sure you are a very competent person, it's just I know Bruce and I don't think he's looking for someone like...you?" He finished unsurely.
Marinette was appalled, no she was furious, sure she had sent the guy flying with her nervous stumble but she couldn't help it. Her nerves got the better of her! However, that doesn't give him any right to judge her so lowly!
Before she could even give a seething remark the man pats her shoulder and gave an empathetic smile, which to Marinette looked so condescending that she wants to punch that smile off his face. "Anyways, good luck and I'm sure that there'll be another path for you." He 'advised' helpfully and leave Marinette seething and glaring murderously on his disappearing back.
Oh, she'll show him. If before she just wants to give her best for this interview and just leave everything to fate, now she's determined to get that job. She'll show him how much of a terrifying secretary she could be.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dick couldn't believe his odds to stumble upon the girl that he had met as Nightwing. The one that had confused his mind with the way the reports told how she had handled the Riddler and his goons. When the girl had sent him to the ground with her powerful stumble and had stuttered out her apology he was ready to believe that what happened with the Riddler had been a fluke.
There was no way that someone like her could do what the reports had stated. Yep, Dick now has a firm belief that what she had done was certainly a fluke. When she introduced herself and told him that she was here for the Secretary/PA interview with Bruce he winced inwardly.
The girl will be eaten by the wolves, where in this case the wolf is Bruce, but he digresses. So he wished the girl good luck and it seems that she had taken it wrongly. Dick had to find the right words to not hurt Marinette's feelings and after saying his piece he thought that he had done a pretty decent job to shoot down any hope for working as Bruce's PA.
He knows his adopted father and he knows that Bruce doesn't appreciate a scatterbrain of a secretary, even if she's quite pretty. He left the girl in the hallway thinking that it'll be the last time he'll ever see her again.
Short answer from the universe? He was wrong. He was so wrong.,
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marinette waits outside of the CEO's office, still stewing from that guy's condescending attitude. Not even Nooroo's gentle pat could calm down her rage. She hopes that she won't see that guy soon because as much as she prides her ability to control her emotions she wouldn't count herself to not slap the guy silly.
"Ms Dupain-Cheng, Mr Wayne is ready for your interview." Called the lovely secretary who gave her an encouraging smile.
Marinette shoot out from her seat and nodded excitedly. "Thank you! I'm ready now." She said as she pats down her skirt to smooth any wrinkles away. She marched confidently to the office and greet the familiar man with a bright smile.
"M Wayne! We meet again!"
"Ah, Marinette. I can call you that right?"
She nodded with a confident smile as she approach his desk and waited next to the chair in front of him waiting for his permission.
"Oh! Please, sit-sit! I'm sure you already know what we're going to do today?" He asked with a pleasant smile. Marinette took a seat and gave a small shrug.
"I have to say, M Wayne. Madame Bourgeois informed me on such short notice that I'm afraid my preparation would not be as much as I wanted." She explained elegantly.
"Really? Audrey gave you such short notice? Do you want to reschedule the interview?" Bruce offered fully expecting her to accept the new agreement, instead, Marinette shook her head.
"Oh, no. I'm ready." She confidently declined. "I have a point to prove." She added with a smirk. Bruce chuckled and with that, the interview starts.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marinette didn't know how they even moved to this topic but right now, instead of interviewing, Marinette is eagerly pointing out the flaws of Batman's hero costume as well as the early Robins costume. Thankfully, Bruce didn't seem put off instead he was listening very intently and even took some notes from her rant. It was pretty surrealistic.
The interview had started out great and it didn't feel like she was being interviewed for a job position, to be honest. They talk about her ability to plan on her feet and anticipate unexpected occurrences. They talk about how she manages Audrey's schedule and made sure the company runs smoothly if one of the others is not present in HQ. Bruce even asked about how she handles difficult business partners or clients and considering the pleased smile on his face she felt like she nailed this interview. At one point, Bruce had asked about her fashion business and Marinette had excitedly explained how she started the business when she was thirteen during the heights of Hawkmoth's reign of terror. All in all, she would consider this a success!
While she was going to move on to talk about the atrocious colour shade that the first Robin had, Bruce Wayne's secretary had come inside the office to inform them about the fitting appointment that they had in one of the reserved meeting rooms. So, they ended the interview there and leave the office while discussing a new topic which is about capes.
"I'm just saying M Wayne, I just think that they should invest in an easily removed cape system. Imagine if the enemy manages to get their hands on the cape? Disaster!" She rants as Bruce frowned thoughtfully.
"You may have a point. Anyways, perhaps we should shelve this conversation for another time. We're here." He said as he opened the meeting room to show that there was already someone inside. "Ah! You're here, perfect. Marinette, I'd like to introduce you to my son. Richard Grayson."
Before either person could introduce themself they both gasped dramatically and pointed at each other with a different variety of shock.
"YOU!"

New York Mets-Minnesota Twins Series Preview
9.8.23-Kodai Senga RHP (10-7) 3.08 ERA Vs. Dallas Keuchel LHP (1-1) 5.06 ERA
9.9.23-David Peterson LHP (3-7) 5.40 ERA Vs. Kenta Maeda RHP (3-3) 4.73 ERA
9.10.23-Tylor Megill RHP (8-7) 5.28 ERA Vs. Pablo Lopez RHP (10-7) 3.64
The Mets At A Glance- The 2023 New York Mets season has been nothing short of a disaster. The team and fans had World Series hopes and they won't even come close to reaching the playoffs. The team decided to sell early and traded away Eduardo Escobar, Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, David Robertson, Mark Canha, and Tommy Pham. The team almost traded Pete Alonso as well. Alonso leads the team with forty-two homers and 102 RBI. Francisco Lindor is having a solid season in Queens with twenty-six home runs and eighty-three RBI. Francisco Alvarez is one of the best prospects in baseball behind the plate. The Mets starting pitching has a 4.39 ERA, which is fifteenth in baseball. Their best starter Kodai Senga gets the nod in the series opener. The bullpen hasn't been as good with a 4.48 ERA, which is twenty-fourth in MLB. Adam Ottavino has been the team's closer with David Robertson being traded. He has eight saves on the year. Former Twin John Curtiss has a 4.58 ERA out of the bullpen.
The Twins At A Glance- The Minnesota Twins took a tighter grip on the Central Division race by winning two out of three against the Indians. The Indians lost to the Angels last night, so the lead is 6.5 games for the Twins. They play a favorable schedule and the Rays and Reds are the only good teams coming up. Chris Paddack allowed two runs over 2 2/3 inning sin a rehab appearance for Fort Myers. Byron Buxton's rehab assignment was paused after his knee flared up. Brock Stewart threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday as he works his way back. I think Alex Kirilloff will be activated off the injured list on Friday and Andrew Stevenson will likely get sent down. Nick Gordon has been taking swings as he tries to return. Donovan Solano has been hot with a .389 average in September. Royce Lewis has knocked in ten runs this month. Kody Funderburk has been good with a 1.69 ERA in 5 1/3 innings. Louie Varland looked good with three shutout innings in his first relief outing on Wednesday.
What To Watch For- The Twins are (8-14) all-time against the Mets. New York took three out of four games in their last meeting in 2019. The Twins were in Queens in the second series of the year in 2019 then the Mets came to Minneapolis in July. The most memorable game in this series for Twins fans would have to be Johan Santana's shutout on June 19th of 2007. He gave up four hits in the shutout performance. Kodai Senga, David Peterson, and Tylor Megill have never pitched against the Twins. Dallas Keuchel is (1-1) with a 2.00 ERA in three starts against the Mets. Kenta Maeda is (1-2) with a 5.25 ERA in four games versus the Mets. Pablo Lopez is (4-5) with a 6.32 ERA in eleven starts against New York. Jeff McNeil is 10-for-19 with five RBI's off Lopez. The Twins face a tough starter on Friday and need to clean up on bad teams coming up.

Kind-Hearted Revolutionary
Single Effect: Anti-Provoke [55%] & Attack Up [20%]
MLB Effect: Anti-Provoke [65%] & Attack Up [25%]
Effect Definitions:
Anti-Provoke will cause the equipped character to ignore an enemy’s Provoke. Provoke ordinarily will redirect an enemy’s attack to the equipped unit and can mess up a player’s strategy. Note that Charm, Stun, and Bind can prevent Active Provoke from working, while passive sources of Provoke will still work.
Attack Up will increase the equipped character’s base stats, meaning that its effected is calculated before buffs/debuffs are considered. It’s generally considered superior to Damage Up/Damage Inflicted Up, however, because there are so many sources of Attack Up in the game it can be easy to hit the cap of 100%.
TLDR: “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” is an excellent memoria with a high amount of Attack Up, very good ATK stats, and a rare effect that can be extremely useful in Mirrors and in some of the harder PVE challenges the game can offer. It qualifies as Whale Tier. This is event memoria for “Please Yuna-San ~Leave Your Worries to Your Eldest Daughter~” and should be kept in case of a rerun.
Review: “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” is the Attack Up version of the limited memoria “More than an Acquaintance, Less than a Friend.” Both give a 65% Anti-Provoke chance and both give a high percentage for an offensive buff. The only other difference would be that “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” has very good passive ATK stats and is the second highest in the game (as of writing this).
Otherwise the review is going to be very similar. One might even say... suspiciously similar...
Anti-Provoke is a rare effect, with very few memoria having it in the game. This makes it a great memoria for content such as Mirrors, where being able to direct your attacks is doubly important, as an unfortunate provoke can mess up Blast attacks. However, Anti-Provoke has uses outside of Mirrors as well.
In some EX-Challenges or even some Hundred Calamities, it’s possible for an enemy to have a Provoke chance, taunting you off of important targets to hit less important ones instead. Especially for EX-Challenges, where fighting can become more dangerous the more turns it takes, a provoked attack can lead to disaster. So for these reasons, “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” is extremely valuable. Of course, note that this isn’t 100% Anti-Provoke. Even when max awakened, it’s still 65%-- a chance better than half, but with the possibility of it not working when you need it.
Even without considering the Anti-Provoke, the 25% Attack Up and its excellent ATK stats make it worthy of using in situations without Provoke. “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” joins a long list of memoria that give 25% Attack Up in the game:
(Limited 4*) “Great Success in the Longed for Land” Attack Up [25%] & Bind on Attack [20%] (1 Turn)
(Limited 4*) “The Young and Pretty Queen” Attack Up [25%] & Poison on Attack [25%] (3 Turns)
(Limited 4*) “Still Far From a Starry Night...” Attack Up [25%] & Accele MP Gain Up [15%]
(Limited 4*) “Miracle Heroines” Attack Up [25%] & Magia Damage Up [12.5%]
(Limited 4*) “Dive into Summer (Tsukuyo/Tsukasa)” Attack Up [25%]
(4*) “To Grace with Aster” Attack Up [25%] & Charged Attack Damage Up [15%]
(4*) “Everyday Overflowing with Pride” Attack Up [25%] & Defense Up [37.5%]
(4*) “Feigning Innocence School Time” Attack Up [25%] & Anti-Stun [100%]
But unlike half of the above list, “Kind-Hearted Revolutionary” is also unlimited and therefor it may be easier to max awaken through regular gacha rolls.
Overall, it’s a good memoria and it should fit on a team with ease. It absolutely qualifies as Whale Tier.

Chloe is Fifteen
This started out as a quick post and then I got really upset lol
I think a lot of the people in the fandom forget how young the characters in MLB are. I honestly think they’re all around 15 if not closer to 14 though I know there’s some ambiguity. We have to remember the kids watching the show are even younger, between 6 and 10 as far as I know.
A few months back I got into a very heated argument with some people because they seemed happy to write off Chloe as a villain. After all, she’s a bully, and they were bullied, so she’s a terrible person, right? But the truth is, even if you were bullied as a kid, it’s not all or even mostly on the bully. Because the fundamental truth about kids that young is that they can’t be blamed for their actions.
Now I’m not saying don’t hold them accountable, by all means, we should respond to negative behavior in a way that teaches them why it’s wrong and that they can’t do it again. But the reason we do that isn’t for the pleasure of punishment, but in order to teach that child more appropriate behavior. If punishment isn’t what they need, it’s not going to be the best response because at the end of the day the goal is to end that behavior and replace it with positive behavior.
To me, Chloe shows a lot of signs of being a child with an Emotional/Behavioral Dsiability (that’s what we call it in education though to earn that label you can have any number of diagnoses) and therefore needs some serious help learning coping mechanisms. We’ve even seen evidence of childhood trauma (a neglectful parent: Audrey) which is almost always present in children with E/BDs. Chloe clearly has really strong emotions, and when she feels them she gets overwhelmed and struggles to control her behavior. Does that make her a bad person? On screen it certainly comes off that way.
I recently subbed for a paraprofessional who was a one-to-one aid for a girl who seemed to have an e/bd. She was academically on grade level, but needed to take breaks when she got worked up. When I arrived, she was in crisis, crying in the back of her room because her teachers basically didn’t give a fuck about her. Throughout the break she took (which was about an hour long), she expressed how angry she was at her class for being chaotic. She couldn’t cope with the teacher’s shaming the class for their behavior when she was behaving properly (the fact that the teachers sucked in that class is another story), something that most of us adults would probably be able to realize wasn’t a big deal. At several points during her crisis she threatened to hurt herself or other students in the class (I was the school counselor this whole time so she responded to this behavior). If another parent was watching this happen, they might be angry and demand she be taken out of the school, they might feel unsafe even. And she knew the severity of what she was saying, but she was upset and she couldn’t control herself. When I and the other teachers were patient with her and finally helped her focus on other things, like drawing and sensory activities she was completely calm and able to return to class. The rest of the day, she only took one more break which was during a test.
I think most people, if they met the girl I worked with that day, would never classify her as a “bad person.” It is very clear that she simply needs extra help. She needs to learn more appropriate coping mechanisms for her emotions. And yet Chloe, who does not have any support at all, could be described almost exactly the same way. It’s easy to hate Chloe because she’s mean, but why is she mean? Why is Marinette nice? Why is Alya nice? Why is Adrien Nice? It has very little to do with some inherent goodness and quite a lot to do with how all of these characters were raised. We see Marinette with loving parents who are always there to support her. They encourage her to pursue her dreams and work hard, but they also give her all their love and attention, maybe not pushing her to excel. This is unlike Alya’s parents who both work hard, Alya is clearly given a lot of responsibility as she takes care of her little sisters. That might be why she’s always willing to jump into the action, her parents have shown her that she not only is capable, but that she needs to be capable. And Adrien, who still has trauma in his past, was always held to high expectations, his bad behavior would never have been enabled the way Chloe’s was. The backgrounds of all these characters were made clear specifically to show us what makes these characters who they are.
And Chloe was given that background too. At first we see that she’s spoiled by her father, but the slow release of details about Audrey was so vital to the growth of her character. Honestly, as a teacher, seeing Chloe’s backstory is heartbreaking. Having a parent that doesn’t give a shit about you and a parent that tries to overcompensate by just giving you whatever you want and not actually parenting you is such a recipe for disaster. Think about it, when you were a kid, if throwing a tantrum got you everything you ever wanted, would you ever learn to stop throwing tantrums? This kind of lazy parenting on the part of Mayor Bourgeois is so damaging to a kid. If all goes well, they might be able to get past it when they’re in school--except for Chloe everyone at school enables her behavior as well, so she’s never learning the basic emotional control that we all learned.
And on top of that her mother is Audrey Bourgeois. Chloe is clearly so desperate for her mother’s love, I mean it’s honestly heart breaking to watch. I mean in Audrey entire screen time she only ever gave a shit about Chloe when someone said she was the meanest girl in Paris. That’s just more reinforcing of negative behavior. She never stood a chance.
So we’ve got a girl with a lot of anger and no positive ways to manage it. On top of that she’s fifteen, and even the best fifteen year olds are still fifteen. She’s got all kinds of hormones and feelings running through her, oh and did I mention, because of her behavioral problems, all her peers hate her? So of course she’s got no incentive to be nice to them.
So how do we help kids like this in real life? How do we get them ready for real life? Well we show them a lot of compassion and understanding first of all. Then we teach them positive coping mechanisms, and then we manage their behavior (meaning reinforce good behavior and punish bad behavior). When it comes to behavior management it is so much more important to reinforce good behavior than to punish bad behavior. Because that shows kids how managing their feelings well gets them a reward, and makes them want to manage their feelings in a positive way.
The fact that Chloe loves being Queen Bee is exactly what makes her such a great character to me. She is finally being given positive reinforcement for her positive behavior and she loves it. She’s so excited to get to be good! That shows me what a truly realistic and sweet kid Chloe really is. It shows me that she has so much potential if only one of the adults in her life would just step the fuck up and PARENT her.
Unfortunately, that role went to Ladybug, who is just a teenager herself. Of course Marinette can’t understand the complexity behind Chloe’s behavior and how much being Queen Bee meant to her. This is nothing against Marinette, just that she is also a fifteen year old kid. It’s not her job to parent Chloe, and she’s not doing that job. So Chloe, who was finally making progress (albeit it was set back by the visit from her mom), is now being thrown back into the terrible situation she was in.
Criticizing or Hating Chloe is not like Criticizing or hating a typical villain. For one, Chloe is not the villain and is (as of right now) one of the heroes of this story, Marinette just doesn’t like her. Secondly, criticizing White Diamond, or Shadoweaver is completely different from criticizing Chloe. They are adults who are completely aware of how their behavior is toxic and yet still behave that way. They have control of themselves and even if they did have a tragic backstory, they aren’t children with brains that haven’t fully developed. Chloe is.
If you hate Chloe, ask yourself whether you’d hate Adrien if he behaved the way she did. The truth is, what makes you a good person at fifteen isn’t anything inherently good and special in you. It’s your experiences and how the adults in your life taught you to behave that made you that person--even if they were bad like Gabriel Agreste is to Adrien, they may have taught you to be good.

i genuinely wonder if mlb is trying for that vibe, (80s he man status quo yet the future is almost concrete) but like. all roads lead to disaster, it’s kind of like... why would you want that?
the future of he man is nothing but optimism, good will win one day, both adam and teela will fall in love, bear a son, and then sort of sacrifice their love/pine from afar as their birthright roles will separate him, (also queen teela probably would not be an issue, if like. king randor of eternia was like: i married an alien astronaut! teela as queen consort would be great, cause she’s already loved and respected in eternia) but teela’s destiny as sorceress supreme might be an obstacle, but again, love never yields. they love each other still.
maybe there’s an element of bittersweetness there, but whose to say they can’t have years together? it’s not instantaneous, that inevitable separation, it’s there in the future, but it’s not in any hurry to get there.
the future of mlb, hates it’s main characters???? it hates marinette and wants her to suffer. adrien could have been good! but it’s so so botched!! every time they date, the world ends? marinette has to come to terms that the person she put on a pedestal is the same person that harasses nonstop when she puts the mask on? not to mention that when they give up their miraculouses, they’ll lose their memory??? or something?? (might just be marinette, not adrien.) and adrien has already shown that he doesn’t care about marinette romantically unless she’s ladybug. the future of mlb is just depressing.

Take Me Out (part 3)
prompted by @bow-before-princess-kitkat, who sent me this post. (link contains spoilers for the fic!)
Megamind/Roxanne, PG rating, pre-movie au
AO3 | FFN
The Metro City Wolverines are the worst team in the MLB. So Megamind, using the disguise watch to manage the stadium’s illegal betting pool, is understandably shocked when Miss Ritchi (at the stadium on a ‘date’ with Metro Man…and his mother) wants to place a bet that the Wolverines can win against the best ranked team in the league. But then, maybe the luck is turning for all of Metro City underdogs…
The Wolverines go up to bat in the bottom of the eighth with a sort of desperate determination.
Megamind is leaning forward in his seat, frowning, intent on the game. The first batter gets out on a fly ball. The second batter grounds out, but the third hits a ball that, strictly speaking, should probably just have been a single, but he keeps on running and makes it to second base.
It gives the fans, and the players, a new confidence; the fourth batter hits a single and the runner on second makes it to third.
The Eclipse pitcher checks the runner on first five times, throwing two balls and a strike to the batter in between. When he throws to the first baseman instead of the batter a sixth time, the Wolverines fans, Roxanne and Megamind among them, boo. A foul ball on the next pitch, and the count is two balls, two strikes, with two outs already.
The next pitch, the batter hits a fly ball into the gap between the third baseman and the centerfielder, and the runners go. The third baseman pounces on the ball swiftly, though, and throws it hard to home plate. The catcher gets it, and the runner’s just barely out at home plate.
Megamind’s leg is bouncing when the Eclipse come up to bat in the top of the ninth; Roxanne finds that she’s gripping the armrests of her chair very tightly. Like an omen of disaster, the sky overhead is darkening, clouds moving to block the sun as the day turns overcast.
The Wolverines’ pitcher, though, is on fire this inning, and retires all three batters in just eleven pitches.
The sky is still getting darker, and rain is rumbling in the distance as the Wolverines come up to bat in the bottom of the ninth.
Megamind glances nervously at the sky. Rain is threatening and the disguise watch isn’t waterproof. He didn’t even think to make it waterproof.
—he should very definitely make some excuse to leave. If his disguise fails, it is going to be very bad. Metro Man is on Roxanne’s other side, and Roxanne—
Ohhh evil gods help him, if Roxanne finds out who he really is, he might not live to get pummeled by Metro Man. She held his hand; she’s going to be enraged.
Beside him, Roxanne shifts closer in her seat, until her arm, on their shared armrest, is pressed against his.
…oh who’s he kidding; there’s no way he’s leaving now.
Their first batter strikes out swinging hard at a fast ball inside, their second is struck out looking, and just like that the Wolverines are down to their final out.
The batter hits a long, long fly ball, that, if there were any justice in the universe, should have been a home run. The left fielder for the Eclipse, though, jumps up and reaches over the wall and snatches it out of the air.
The tied game goes to extra innings.
In the distance, thunder growls.
"Crab nuggets!"
Wayne jumps suddenly to his feet.
Roxanne feels Megamind flinch beside her, but Wayne isn't looking in his direction at all, is facing the vendor who has just spilled a whole glass of beer in his lap.
"Oh, I'm so sorry, Sir; I'm so sorry about that,"  the girl says, trying to wipe him down.
Roxanne raises her eyebrows in amusement as Wayne goes beet red and tries to fend the girl off while not appearing to be fending her off.
"That's--nnnn--that's--quite all right...Citizen, no harm, just--I can--napkins--you--uh--"
"Oh, I feel so bad; your beautiful pants! Here, let me help you--"
"Citizen--"
"Let me just--"
"Citizen--"
"--just get that for--"
"CITIZEN PLEASE!" Wayne yelps, "YourAssistanceIsAppreciatedButUnecessaryThankYou!"
"I've got a towel!" The girl says.
Wayne makes a wordless sound of horror and, under the stares of everyone in their section, ignominiously flees.
The girl looks after him with an expression of...satisfaction? Why would she...?
Megamind gives a choked laugh beside her and Roxanne turns towards him.
He looks at her as though he's afraid she's going to be angry. For a split second, Roxanne tried to look serious, wanting to tease him, but the expression in his wide green eyes has her laughing, too, before she can stop herself.
"Poor Wayne," Roxanne says, laughing.
"Oh, and poor us, being deprived of his presence," Megamind says under his breath, looking up at her through his lashes.
Roxanne smacks him playfully on the arm.
"You're mean," she says, laughing still, "very bad."
"Oh, Miss Ritchi," Megamind murmurs, "you have no idea."
Roxanne looks at him, arching an eyebrow pointedly.
“You sure about that?" she asks.
Megamind tilts his head, looking at her, looking confused and uneasy.
"Well?" Shufty demands. The whole group of them are crowded together eagerly.
Priya’s friend Mia shakes her head. They all groan.
"Nothing definite," she says. "I think she implied she knows, but it’s nothing we could prove."
"I told you all," Shufty says. "How I let you talk me into this--"
"Be patient!" Priya says. "Tom, is Lady Scott still busy?"
"Yeah, the line to the ladies' room's about a mile long," Tom says. "Saw her standing at the back of it."
"Good, good," Priya says. "Now just wait."
Shufty eyes her balefully. Damned optimists.
(The sky grows just a little darker.)
Wayne comes back in the top of the ninth.
He sits down, takes out his phone, and begins texting furiously, his fingers flying as he frowns intently at the little screen.
In a tragic reversal of his beautiful pitching in the last inning, the Wolverines pitcher seems to have gone all to pieces. He hits the first batter in the second pitch. The second batter hits one foul ball out of play, but then the pitcher misses outside three times in a row, throws a pitch that's in the dirt, and walks the second batter.
The crowd shifts restlessly, the fans of the Eclipse booing as the catcher goes out to the mound to talk to the pitcher.
When he gets back to his place behind home plate, it seems like the talk might have done the trick; the first pitch is a strike.
Sadly, though, it doesn't last; the next pitch is low, the pitch after that high. Another pitch is high, and the count is three balls, one strike.
The pitcher stands tensely on the mound, rolling the ball between his fingers.
Roxanne hears Megamind take a deep breath and then hold it--
The pitch--a hesitation on the part of the umpire—but it's called a strike.
The pitcher throws and the ball is fouled back out of play.
Full pitch count: three balls, two strikes.
Another ball founded back out of play. And then another and then--
A walk. The crowd groans.
The bases are loaded now, and the Wolverines’ coach goes out to the pitcher’s mound to take him out of the game.
The sound of Queen's Crazy Little Thing Called Love starts up, the sign that the Kiss Cam is about to begin during the dead time of the pitching change.
An old couple comes up first on the big screen. The white-haired old lady points excitedly at the screen, then turns to give a quick kiss to her husband. A couple of young women are the next couple, one in a Wolverines shirts, the other in a red Eclipse ball cap. The one in the Wolverines shirt gives her girlfriend a kiss and steals her girlfriend’s hat while she's distracted. There's a chorus of laughter and cheers.
Roxanne smiles and stretches her legs out, stretches her hands towards her feet.
It's while she's mid-stretch that the Kiss Cam moves to her and Wayne.
It gives her an unpleasant jolt, seeing herself up on the screen; she straightens up quickly.
Oh no; why? Why did they have to pick her and Wayne out of the crowd?
(Metro Man and his famous reporter girlfriend; she should have been expecting this)
She smiles; an automatic reaction to knowing she's on camera, grits her teeth, and turns towards Wayne. Get this over with quickly, she thinks.
(Megamind is right there beside her and she wants to scream with frustration.)
Wayne, intent on his phone, hasn't even noticed that they're on the big screen.
She taps him on the arm and he grunts but doesn't look up.
"Wayne. Wayne," she hisses. "We're on the Kiss Cam."
He does look up at that, looks up and gives her a look of dismay.
And shakes his head mutely.
"Wayne--"
"It's Metro Man!" somebody shouts.
"Roxanne Ritchi!" Someone else calls.
"--just give me a quick peck on the cheek," Roxanne says in an undertone, mortified by now.
The entire stadium is staring, more people are shouting their names.
“Kiss her!”
“Kiss for luck!”
“For luck; kiss for luck!”
“Kiss! Kiss! Kiss!”
"No," Wayne says, making a face almost of disgust, and okay, now Roxanne is mad.
(How dare he embarrass her like this, in front of all these people, in front of--)
Roxanne turns suddenly to Megamind, meets his eyes.
"Do you want to kiss me?" She asks, blindly furious. (Out of the corner of her eye, Roxanne sees the video feed on the screen jerk away from her and Wayne to pan over to her and Megamind.)
"Yes," Megamind says.
That's all Roxanne needs to hear; then she's twisting to face him even more and leaning forward and--
And she's kissing Megamind.
He's kissing Roxanne. Kissing. Roxanne.
Roxanne--
He freezes for a moment when their lips touch, not knowing how to--
And then she tips her head just a little and--
And that's it, he forgets everything, forgets their audience, forgets her superpowered boyfriend sitting not two feet away, forgets it all, forgets everything but her.
She's--
(This is your one chance Megamind the universe has given you this single chance to kiss Roxanne Ritchi. One kiss, just one, so make it as good for her as possible)
Megamind cradles her face gently in his hands and tried to pour everything he feels for her into the kiss, all of the things he's never been able to say, will never be able to say because of who and what he is.
I love you Roxanne you're so brilliant and beautiful and good and I love you completely and entirely I love you I love you I love you
She makes a sound against his mouth and presses closer to him, parts her lips for him and lets him lick into her mouth and sink his fingers in her hair and--
He's breathless and flushed when she pulls away; Roxanne's cheeks are pink, too, and she looks--
She looks very kissed.
Somewhere in the crowd, somebody wolf-whistles.
The consciousness of where he is and what he's doing hits him hard and sudden oh god Metro Man—
On the field, the new pitcher throws the first pitch. The Kiss Cam turns off and the crowd turns its attention to the game.
(oh. oh god she kissed Megamind in front of an entire crowd what was she thinking oh god—)
Roxanne can't bring herself to regret the kiss. That kiss was--Megamind kisses like he does everything, throwing his whole heart and soul into it.
Megamind kisses like he's in love, and his voice, his expression, when she asked if he wanted to kiss her and he said yes.
(Like a man dying of thirst offered water, like he was desperate, like the chance at kissing her was something unimaginably precious and does Megamind--is--can he be--?)
"Roxy," Wayne says in a choked voice. “Embarrassing—“
Roxanne, giddy and just a little dazed, turns to him.
"We're done, right, Wayne?” she blurts out. "We can be done pretending to be together, now, yeah?”
Wayne stares at her, clearly caught off guard. For a moment, he hesitates.
“We--"
“Please,” Roxanne says in an undertone.
Wayne lets out a long breath.
"Yeah," he says, "that would be--" he gives her an awkward smile and scratches the back of his neck. “Sorry; I've kinda been a jerk today. It’s just I've been—uh—well—“ he taps his phone against his knee, “—I’ve been talking to someone."
Roxanne blinks.
"Wait, talking-talking to someone?" She asks.
"Yeah, and I...well I just finally asked him out," Wayne says in a low tone. "And then there was that—“ he waves a hand at the big screen. “—kiss thing—and I couldn’t—right after.”
"Oh. Ohhh," Roxanne says, understanding dawning, "yeah, no, obviously not.”
Beside her, Megamind makes a weak noise of bafflement. Roxanne reaches out without turning and puts her hand on his knee, wanting to make sure he doesn't bolt. He is not just running off after a kiss like that; she has to know if he--if he meant it, if--if Megamind maybe--maybe could feel about her the way she feels about him.
"So?" She says to Wayne. "What did your guy say?"
Wayne gives her a sheepish, pleased smile.
"He said yeah," he says.
"Nice," Roxanne says.
Megamind makes another wordless noise of confusion. Roxanne squeezes his knee and he goes silent and perfectly still.
“Oh—" Wayne says, looking over her shoulder and giving Megamind a reassuring friendly smile. “Oh, right—yeah, no worries, buddy."
Wayne glances at Roxanne's face; she feels herself flush at his speculative expression. He grins, looking over at Megamind again.
"Me and Roxy are just friends, really."
Roxanne glances at Megamind, blushing even harder. He looks stunned, his mouth opening and closing soundlessly.
"So anyway, I think I'm gonna go ahead and head out," Wayne says, just a little too loud and overly casual. "Find my mother, beat the crowd out. You guys good here, Roxy?"
Roxanne looks back at Wayne; he moves his eyebrows at her suggestively, gesturing with his head at Megamind in a way that is not subtle in any way at all, whatsoever. She rolls her eyes at him, her face positively burning now.
"Yes, Wayne; thank you; goodbye," Roxanne says pointedly and he snickers.
There's a moment of awed silence in their little group after Metro Man moves past Shufty and the others, headed towards the exit.
"We broke up Metro Man and Roxanne Ritchi," Mia says in a voice of amazement.
“Yes, we did,” Priya says, smiling like a satisfied cat with a bowlful of cream.
Shufty thinks he might be warming up to this girl after all.
Roxanne has her hand on his knee.
Roxanne.
Has her hand.
On his knee.
She has her hand in his knee and she just kissed him—well, kissed Miguel the bookie, anyway—in front of Metro Man and Metro Man was fine with it because apparently they were never actually dating, and Megamind thinks maybe he's died and gone to evil heaven,
Roxanne has her eyes fixed on the field now, like she's avoiding his eyes, and he would think that she's regretting the kiss, but she still has her hand on his knee so that can't be it, right? That can’t be it.
There's a pink flush along her cheekbones--embarrassment? Or--or maybe it's excitement--
Megamind has never regretted not being a bookie more. Not being Miguel. She likes Miguel. Why couldn't he just have been born Miguel?
(Maybe he can just wear the disguise watch forever, yeah that's a good and totally reasonable plan.)
His mind spinning and his lips tingling, Megamind looks blindly out at the field, mentally replaying the kiss in his mind.
The disguise watch...as the first drops of cool rain begin to splatter down onto the crowd, onto his head and arms, a thought about the disguise watch attempts, unsuccessfully, to get his attention.
(Roxanne turning her head just so and pressing her lips against his like—)
The thought about the disguise watch fades into unimportance.
They've missed the end of the top of the tenth, Roxanne realizes, looking out at the field, and half of the bottom of the tenth.
It's still tied; there's two outs and one runner on second. The Eclipse pitcher is throwing to the fourth Wolverines batter and the runner goes, stealing third base.
The pitch count is two balls and one strike and the batter hits a fly ball that is caught by the center fielder.
In spite of the fact that most of Roxanne's focus is taken up by the fact that she has her hand on Megamind's knee (her hand! on his knee! and he’s letting her!), she joins in the collective groan that the crowd gives at the stranded runner.
(It's really, really unfortunate that Megamind's holographic disguise, however it works, extends to texture as well as visual appearance. When she'd kissed him, she'd wanted to feel the scratch of Megamind's goatee, the smooth shape of his head. She'd wanted to kiss him, not the damn human disguise.)
It's raining now, as they move to the top of the eleventh, the score still tied--light splattering raindrops. The people seated around the two of them keep glancing at Roxanne and Megamind and whispering together, probably speculating at the content of Wayne and Roxanne's last conversation, at the way Wayne left her here.
(The way they were both smiling as he did it is probably giving rise to a lot of confusion, Roxanne thinks wryly.)
The first of the Eclipse batters comes up to the bag and on the first pitch--the first pitch--hits it out of the park.
Roxanne surges to her feet, grabbing at her hair in dismay. Megamind jumps to his feet, too.
"No no no no no," she groans as the ball flies over the fence. "Come on."
Megamind makes a noise of miserable agreement and turns to her, his shoulders slumped in defeat.
"That's it, then," he says. "It's over." He gives her a small bitter smile. “I told you not to back the long shot."
"It is not over," Roxanne says forcefully. "We have the entire rest of the inning yet to play!"
"They're going to lose," he says, and he sounds more resigned than anything, never mind their bet. "They always lose. That's how it goes.”
Roxanne opens her mouth to argue and a thought occurs.
(The petition she signed to keep the team colors, all the comments people made at the time about blue being an unlucky color in Metro City, all the comments they’ve made about Megamind, about him always losing.)
"Not this time," she says. "They're not going to lose this time, Meg—Miguel.”
She reaches out and grabs his hand, squeezes it quickly, then lets go to clap as the pitcher gets the second batter out.
The two of them stay standing through all the rest of the top of the eleventh. At first it’s mostly Roxanne cheering, but eventually Megamind joins in as well, whistling loudly and joining her as she claps. Their enthusiasm spreads to the rest of their section; soon they’re all on their feet, shouting loudly for the Wolverines, whistling, and clapping.
It seems to give the pitcher new life; he retires the next two batters on strikes.
By the time the first of the Wolverines goes up to bat in the bottom of the eleventh, nearly the whole crowd is on their feet. The Wolverines players look dazed but determined; they’re obviously still shocked that they’ve come this far, against the best team in the league, shocked at this much enthusiasm coming from their fans.
The first batter gets a single; the second strikes out swinging hard, clearly aiming for a home run. The third batter gets out, too, also swinging, but the fourth is hit by a pitch and walks to first. The fifth is walked—four pitches, all balls, no strikes at all.
It’s raining harder, now, but no one in the stadium crowd looks ready to leave, even when the Eclipse call for a pitching change and play is stalled.
The Eclipse pitcher on the mound doesn’t seem to want to go, ends up arguing with his catcher and his coach. The stadium starts up the music for the Kiss Cam again, probably to cover the awkward moment.
This thing called love, I just can't handle it This thing called love, I must get round to it I ain't ready
The first couple is a middle-aged pair who give a surprisingly dramatic kiss.
Someone in Roxanne and Megamind’s section—a popcorn vendor?—whistles and then shouts—
“Over here!”
—and gestures wildly at Megamind and Roxanne.
“Yeah!” another voice in the section shouts, waving their arms. “Here, over here!”
“Didn’t they already—?”
Roxanne hears someone ask.
“Yeah, and it worked last time, didn’t it? Got us out of the inning—”
“Kiss for luck!”
“Roxanne Ritchi!”
“Over here!”
“Oh god,” Roxanne mutters as the two of them appear again on the big screen. She turns to Megamind. “Look, I’m really sorry about—”
It is at this, the most inopportune moment, that Megamind’s holographic disguise disappears.
“—heh—“ Megamind says, unable to do anything but give that stupid, panicked little laugh.
Oh god.
The watch.
The rain.
Oh god oh no.
(oh god it’s like a nightmare everyone staring, everyone seeing him, and Roxanne looking at him with wide eyes and opening her mouth to yell at him for being such a freak, for tricking her and kissing her and—)
“It wasn’t waterproof?” Roxanne blurts out loudly and Megamind blinks at her because
that’s not what he expected her to say and
it almost sounded like she already knew it was him but that can’t
“Oh my god, Megamind,” Roxanne groans. “It’s always the simple stuff with you—”
“—ah?” Megamind says weakly.
(the crowd is still frozen and silent, shocked at his appearance, but soon, he knows, the screaming will start and he’ll have to run because he’s not even wearing his spikes, not wearing his protective suit; he’s in these normal clothes because he wanted to feel like he belonged with these other fans when he went to this game and god why is he so stupid; how could he think—)
“Not waterproof,” Roxanne says scathingly, and then she’s leaning forward and—
—kissing him?
Wait—but—that’s—what—
Oh, but she is very definitely kissing him, one of her hands sliding up to hold his face for a moment, then slipping around to grab the back of his head.
Megamind makes a small, shocked sound and Roxanne parts his lips with her tongue and hooks the fingers of her other hand one of the belt loops of the jeans he’s wearing and pulls him closer.
And Megamind still has no idea why this is happening—why is she kissing him? Roxanne knows it’s him, and she’s still—she’s still—
—but answers suddenly don’t seem anywhere near as important as wrapping his arms around Roxanne and kissing her back.
Roxanne breaks the kiss, both of them gasping, and, from the back of the section, a group of people burst into applause and cheering.
There’s half a second where the whole crowd seems frozen, and then someone in the next section bellows.
“Yeah! Let’s go, blue!”
—and suddenly, impossibly, the rest of the stadium is cheering, too.
“Wait, what’s the date today?” Megamind hears someone a few rows up demand from their seat mate.
“Twenty-eighth, why?”
The first speaker groans.
“Damn it, I had my money on the thirtieth!”
The crowd continues to cheer, Megamind looks around wildly.
Why are they cheering? They can see him! They know it’s him! Why are they cheering for him?!
He looks back at Roxanne, who still has her fingers hooked firmly in his belt loop, as though to keep him from getting away. She’s—
—she’s laughing, her eyes shining and her cheeks flushed, and she’s looking at him.
“…you knew it was me?” Megamind says, still not believing it, but unable to come up with any other explanation for—
She bites her lip and gives him a look that actually seems—fond.
“Yeah,” she says. “Yeah, I did.”
“When?!” Megamind demands. “When did you—and how could you possibly figure—”
Roxanne shrugs.
“You said my name,” she says. “And I knew it had to be you.”
Megamind gapes at her. When he said her name? She figured it out when he said her name? That means—that means she knew after the first sentence he said to her as Miguel; that means this whole day, all of the talking and the flirting and the kissing—
That means she always knew it was him.
Roxanne leans forward and kisses him, quick and chaste, almost like it’s a punctuation mark to her statement that she knew it had to be him.
“—oh,” he says, dazedly.
“—so I was kind of wondering if I could take you out sometime, Megamind,” Roxanne says, in a rush.
Megamind stares at her.
She looks back at him, and her eyes seem just a little uncertain, suddenly.
Roxanne just—Roxanne just asked him out on a date.
And she’s looking at him now like she thinks maybe the answer might be no, and that is just unacceptable.
Megamind leans forward and kisses her swiftly.
“Yes,” he says. “Yes, definitely yes.”
Roxanne’s whole face lights up in a smile.
The sound of a bat cracking against a ball makes both of them turn to look at the field, just in time for them to see Leo Alvarez hit a walk-off home run and win the game for the Wolverines.
Shufty, Tom, Priya, Mia, and all the rest of their group cheer as Leo Alvarez rounds the bases and the Boss leans in to kiss Miss Ritchi once more.
“You know, you still owe me two hundred and forty dollars on that bet,” Roxanne points out later, after he drives her home and walks her to her apartment, after she invites him inside and they kiss on her couch for so long that Megamind loses track of time.
Megamind laughs breathlessly and nods.
“I don’t get it,” he says later, after they’ve stopped making out and are just lying on her couch together, tangled up with each other.
“Hmm? Don’t get what?”
“I don’t get—I—why in evil heaven did they cheer?”
“You mean after the second kiss?” Roxanne says. “I—well, I think it’s because you were wearing this, honestly.” She hooks a finger in the collar of his blue Wolverines hoodie and pulls him in for a lazy kiss.
“The shirt?” Megamind asks, when she lets him go and leans back. He frowns, still confused. “It’s just a Wolverine’s shirt.”
“Mmhm,” Roxanne makes an affirmative noise. “A Wolverines shirt. You’d clearly risked a lot, going to that game, Megamind. And you weren’t doing it as a supervillain. They could see that. Because you were wearing a Wolverines shirt. You were doing it as a fan.”
“…blue losers have to stick together?” Megamind says.
Roxanne smacks him lightly on the shoulder.
“Fans stick together,” she says. “And we won today, Megamind.”
Megamind smiles at her, slow and amazed and joyful.
“Yes,” he murmurs, leaning in to kiss her again, “yes, I did.”
When the Wolverines win the World Series later that year, Roxanne and Megamind are right there in the stadium to see it, holding hands and cheering.
the end.  💙⚾
notes: The Metro City Wolverines are a fictional MLB National League team--Michigan did have a team called the Wolverines, but they were located in Detroit and the team disbanded after 1888. In this ficus alternate version of history, the Wolverines moved cites instead of disbanding, becoming the Metro City Wolverines.
The Louisville Eclipse were also a real major league baseball team that played in the National League, though their name was changed and they folded after the 1899 season. In this story, they continued to play after 1899, and also switched back to the Eclipse name.
Thank you for all of the likes, reblogs, and comments on the previous chapters! I hope you all enjoyed the final part of the story! <3

Queen of Disaster - Reverse!Chloenette Fic Idea
"you got me spinning like a ballerina..."
When she's not focusing on her schoolwork or training to become the prima ballerina her mother encourages her to be, Chloé Bourgeois is #1 Resistance Queen*, Honey Bee. And she knows she's not meant to fall for the enemy, but there's something about her that Chloé can't help but fall for... Maybe she just has a thing for bad girls?
Would likely include:
Approx time period Inspirations: 2012-2014?
Chloé focused - Lots of ballet-heavy scenes when it's focused on her life outside of Honey Bee. She'll probably also frequent Boulangeire Dupain-Cheng often, just to see Marinette.
Emo x Prep, "She was a punk, she did ballet", DUH. Chloé is the head-over-heels sunshine who likes to look on the bright side of things, Marinette is quiet and pessimistic and is intimidated/put-off by Chloé's positivity rather than a victim of 'bullying'. Chloé tries very hard to be Mari's friend and Mari has none of it.
Other Lana songs? why not.
*Depending on whether this is pre- or post- paris special, Honey can either work for the Resistance or Supreme, whatever the opposite of Shadybug is. Or maybe they work together, and she doesn't fall for the enemy after all?

writing a Ch1/pilot for Queen of Disaster rn. I think it's actually, ridiculously (heh) impossible for me to write a piece of fan fiction that doesn't include classical music to a degree. I was just like "oh! Chloé's introductory bit should demonstrate her ballet skills to a degree, so she can maybe perform a small routine for her mom to also show that their relationship is fairly close" and then when I look up a good song for this my lizard brain goes straight to "MUST be piano etude. NO OTHERS."
....the worst part is, The School of Velocity, Op.299 is so good that I kind of want to add it into TWEOS too :,))))))
