More additions. More changes. Still lots of nerdy linguistic background information. Finally added a section about Rûnou̯egiâs (the equivalent of Bindrunes). Added links to more sources.

Made some more edits to this (including the image above the link) so I figured I'd share it again.

Senoscrîbbâ: Nou̯iscrîbbâ:
Tumblr media
For my fellow language and alphabet/writing system nerds, here's an idea I've had rolling around in my head for a long time. The main inspiration was how Elder Futhark developed into Younger Futhark, Futhorc, etc.
I call the original alphabet that I've always used for writing Gaulish Senoscrîbbâ (Old Writing) and I call the more evolved version Nou̯iscrîbbâ (New Writing). Nou̯iscrîbbâ has Raetic, Cammunic, and Germanic influence; distinguishes between c and g, p and b, and d and t; and adds letters to represent the consonantal i and u sounds (y and w) using forms borrowed from Oscan and South Picene.

Found an app that let's you create your own fonts. It seems to have fairly limited usefulness (ar least on a phone), but I think it can be useful.

Something I've been working on inspired by Elder Futhark's shift to exclusively divination usage and the usage of newer runic alphabets for regular writing. As such I took some influence from the Germanic Runes as well as from the Rhaetian versions of the Lugano alphabet.

I saw a post on Facebook about Witches making sigils related to protesting and protection for protestors and things like that. It inspired me to do the same in my own way: a Rûnoṷegiâ.

"We acclaim the gods,
Coming out of the mist.
We acclaim the gods,
Tucked in at night.
They're closing in now.
I can feel it.
They're already here.
We acclaim the gods
While the crows caw.
I hear their voices.
They're already talking.
I can already hear them."

I realized I've never taken a good picture of these. Custom Rûnâs made for me by my brother Branos (The Carnutian Workshop) to use with my version of Rûnoṷelîtiâ (Gaulish Divination).

𐌓𐌖𐌍𐌏𐌖𐌄𐌋𐌉𐌢𐌉𐌅/Rûnoṷelîtiâ is a divination system/tool that is similar to and inspired by Norse and Germanic Runes and Insular Celtic Ogham, but designed to be used within a Gaulish Polytheistic framework.  The name is comprised of the words 𐌓𐌖𐌍𐌅/rûnâ (secret, mystery) and 𐌖𐌄𐌋𐌉𐌗𐌖𐌔/ṷelîtus (sight, vision) so I have translated it as "secret-seeing".  It uses the 15 characters of the Lugano alphabet that I believe are needed to write the Gaulish language.  It differs slightly from other, similar Gaulish divination systems in this respect as my version uses the fewest letters.  The meanings for each letter were derived by comparing the assigned meanings of their closest equivalents within the Elder Futhark, Anglo-Saxon Futhorc, Ogham, and Greek Oracle divination systems.  I also borrowed plant and numerical associations for each letter by borrowing from each letter's Ogham and Greek counterparts.  Lastly, where I saw them, I offered possible Deity associations for each letter.  I didn't see an obvious association for every letter, and the ones I did offer are only suggestions but certainly not the only possibilities.  Thank you to Rosmertâ and Carnonos for inspiration and guidance throughout this!  Braton tê, Rosmertâ!  Braton tê, Carnone!

Rûnoṷegiâ (Rûnâ-weaving) is a term and concept myself and a few other people have developed to accompany the Gaulish divination practices we've been developing. Essentially, Rûnoṷegiâ is the same as the idea of bind-runes among Germanic cultures, which was the inspiration, considering that it wasn't uncommon for Celtic and Germanic peoples to share cultural ideas back and forth.
So here are two crudely thrown together examples I've had in mind for a while: One (𐌊+𐌋) intended for bringing inspiration and enhancing artistic/creative skill and passion, and one (𐌓+𐌙) for protection and safety during travels -- the physical act of traveling (driving, flying, etc) as well as the time spent while in your destination away from home.
