Thought I'd switch it up to show off some behind the scenes stuff. 💭✏️ This week will rmfeature my process for designing pins! First weird fact, I don't sketch out concepts... I just start drawing lines 😅 All pin designs are drawn directly in Illustrator with a mouse 🖱️. For a series, especially the national park pins, I have a template that I start off from to ensure consistency across the collection! Then it's alot of lines and mainly using handles for adjusting lines until I'm happy with it! Of course I'm also using an image reference to make sure it's as accurate as possible... If I've been to a park, I can't help but pull some inspiration from my own experiences... But if not, a few days of research go into the best reference (Google, instagram, alltrails)! I do my best to create a design that resonates with visitors of any level by choosing popular viewpoints and unique features of the park. Falls ihr einmal den Yellowstone Nationalpark besuchen möchtet, rate ich euch folgendes: Überall im Park werdet ihr auf Rentner mit Funkgeräten treffen, deren Hobby es ist die rund 300 Geysire zu beobachten. Wenn man aufmerksam die Funksprüche belauscht, schnappt man durchaus die ein oder andere Information über den nächsten Ausbruch eines Geysirs auf. Man kann die netten Rentner aber auch einfach ansprechen und sie werden einem alles über den Park erzählen. Viele der Rentner gehören einer kleinen Gemeinschaft von "Citizen Scientists" an, also bürgerlichen Wissenschaftlern, die Daten über den Park sammeln und diese der Wissenschaft zugänglich machen. Jeder der Geysire hat einen eigenen regelmäßigen oder völlig unvorhersehbaren Rhytmus. Old Faithful, der bekannteste Geysir im Yellowstone, bricht im Durchschnitt alle 90 Minuten aus. Der Steamboat Geysir ist mit einer Höhe von bis zu 120m der größte des Parks - und der Welt! Zwischen zwei Ausbrüchen können allerdings vier Tage oder 50 Jahre vergehen. Für solche unregelmäßigen Ausbrüche gibt es jedoch Anzeichen. Bricht zum Beispiel ein kleinerer benachbarter Geysir aus, kann dies der Vorbote eines größeren Ausbruchs des Hauptgeysirs sein.
