RULES:

32 64 trains enter, one train leaves.

Real trains/locomotives can only be sumitted as the fictional trains they play- "Kozlova's circus train” can go in the poll, but “LMS 13065″ can’t.

Train-based media (Thomas the Tank Engine, Chuggington, Starlight express, ect) get ONE character EACH. Pre-polls will run parallel to submissions to determine which characters.

More may be included in extrordinary circumstances like it being really funny.

Characters/things that transform into a train sometimes are allowed, but only if they’re a train most of the time, or if the train-ness is an important aspect of their identity.

Trains that are real but have fictional things happen on them are allowed, but they’re on thin ice. For example, the Orient Express is allowed but only when there’s a murder on it.

Your OC trains are lovely and wonderful but also not allowed. There are simply too many. 

Submissions of trains will be considered above submissions of just locomotives by themselves.

Please try and include an image! I will if you don't, but it'll make my life a lot easier if you do.

ONE train per person.

A Search for the Last (Pacific Electric) Red Car

This is the first episode of a series of short films I am making with my partner about the history of the Pacific Electric Railway. In particular the loved and fondly remembered red car! Way back in 2014 Jessica attended LACC and noticed remnants of train tracks that went right up to the school's entrance! Later she moved to the San Fernando Valley. Rich and Jessica began to see remnants around their neighborhood as well! "So we decided to keep exploring! One day our friend John Ulloth, who is a transit advocate, called us and let us know a red car had been returned to it's original right of way in San Pedro! Unfortunately we had little time to react to the news as it was about to be torn out all over again! So we went on the very last day and we rode the very last red car that existed on it's original tracks! Now I hear the old cars are in storage and termites are having at them as you read this. It was some sad news, but as you can see in the video, even on the last day John was not giving up! For the next episodes we plan to explore the Orange bus line, which now travels on paved streets were the train once ran. We also plan to visit the museum in Perris, CA where the very last trains in existence are carefully preserved. We had the best transit in the country and perhaps the world! We are slowly but surely returning the electric trains. But it isn't cheap and is taking a very long time. Still, we are overjoyed that the trains are coming back. I Don't Think There's a Tougher Hobby for an ADHD Person than Railfanning

38 years ago, when I was 8 years old and I went with my grandparents to the Miami Amtrak station to drop my uncle off to take the Silver Star back home to Savannah, stars fell on me as I saw that long, silvery streak pointed Northward in the early morning light with the big black letters by the door of each car, "Ammmmmtrak" (that's how I would say it in my head). For years already, I had been voraciously reading every book about trains I could get my hands on; I taught myself to read several grade levels higher than my age consuming railroad history. Seeing this beautiful thing in real life was on a whole other level, though- it was like the day I was born and the end of the world happening at the same time. That was the moment I knew what life was about, and I have never wavered; of all the things that have come and gone in my life, this has been salient. I can't imagine life without a driving force like this. Its important to note, however, that one doesn't deliberate or negotiate passion- it chooses you and you're along for the ride. You don't get to think ahead about whether it fits your personality or your lifestyle or your ahem, neurocognitive quirks. It is the ultimate demonstration of the intensity of my passion for railroads that I'm an ADHD railfan. To railfan, you need to be patient above all: trains follow their own schedules, and most of them are not published, at least not in my country. US railroad operations are extremely dynamic; you can't really count on any observed patterns. There are a few places, like Chicago or the Northeast Corridor, where action is guaranteed at almost any hour, but I don't have the good fortune of living close to any of those spots. You need to be aware of your surroundings at all times, for an infinite number of reasons: the best places to railfan often aren't the safest or most hospitable places to randomly hang out and failure to stay safe or accurately register when you're being watched close to railroad property can score you an interaction with the police that will be humiliating in the best case and costly in the worst. If you aren't a good listener or have any APD- (auditory processing disorder) like symptoms, you're going to miss some important info on your scanner and it won't be repeated. You need to make quick decisions based on a long list of variables: do I chase this train that just went by, or do I stay put and see what else comes this way? I can't tell you how many times I've lined up a great photo only to discover that I had no memory card in the camera, the battery was too low to take the shot, or everything works but then I look at the pictures and they're crap because I forgot to change the settings for the lens I had put on. They say that focus and motivation come easier when you're doing what you love, and that's true for me- but when I want to railfan, I'm thinking about TRAINS and I'm trying to decide where I'm going to go and how to get there- that's a full brain for me. I'm not thinking about the camera or whether I remembered to put everything I need in my backpack. So for me, more so than most I would say, this is like dancing: sometimes you try and try and tired is all you get; other times, you and your dance partner are both in the same groove and there's this unbelievable magic.
