shitty summary: Risa, a nurse married to a doctor named Aik, learns that he has been cheating on her with her best friend Gaet. In turn, convinced by another woman wronged by Gaet, she decides to seduce her son, a prostitute.

where to watch: neko

grade: 8,5/10

pros:

- obviously the entertainment value is +10000. I literally never got bored, even when I thought the story reached its end more drama came so it was truly just such a fun watch and I didn’t feel the 22 1-hour episodes at all!

- the characters were freaking awesome. you think soap opera, you think cliche and over-the-top characters, but not at all. it’s actually what impressed me the most about this lakorn, the characters are very realistic and well-written. I mean, I felt bad for every character at some point even Gaet who’s just so fucking diabolical while also being so broken and sad. I just got really attached to these characters to be honest.

- in the same vein, the show is just pretty realistic for such an over-the-top story. like, the way the characters would oscillate between one choice to the other was really realistic because context makes us change our minds in difficult situations. and just the way they thought and the way they behaved was just quite understandable even though the story was really out there.

- the acting was really good. for me the actresses who played Risa and Gaet definitely shined the most, they were really excellent and really made the show as good as it was, but everyone else was also great!

cons:

- the ending left me very meh. like, on one hand Pong’s death is the ultimate payback to Gaet who lost the one she loved the most by being insane, but on the other hand it’s also payback to Risa who deserved a happy ending. Pong also deserved a happy ending and was kind of a sacrificial lamb in all of this. and having Risa probably end up with the doctor in the end is kind of like the whole 22 episodes had been for nothing. Risa basically ends up in the same exact position she started in, and it’s sad because it kinda destroys the whole moral of the show.

would I rewatch it: no because it’s long and it’s a story that is mostly enjoyable because you don’t know what’s going to happen next

I was honestly incredibly surprised by this show and I would really recommend it to people like me who have never seen a lakorn because I found it really easy to digest and not overly cringy. also it as Joss Wayar in it so you know, that’s always a win ;)

Lee Jong Suk will be getting refreshing payback in “Big Mouth”!

“Big Mouth” is a hard-boiled noir drama starring Lee Jong Suk as Park Chang Ho, a third-rate lawyer who winds up in charge of a murder case that turns him overnight into a genius con artist known as “Big Mouse.” In order to survive and protect his family, including wife Go Mi Ho (played by Girls’ Generation’s YoonA), the “big-mouthed” lawyer must expose a huge conspiracy among the privileged upper classes.

On the previous episode, Park Chang Ho was kidnapped and imprisoned at a mental asylum and barely overcame death. He managed to escape with the help of Jerry (Kwak Dong Yeon), but he had to stay in hiding. At the end, Park Chang Ho appeared on live broadcast as an informant and provoked his enemies by saying, “Should I make a prediction about today’s trial?”

In a new preview of the upcoming episode, Park Chang Ho looks relaxed and confident due to his successful attack against his enemies. Although his prediction hasn’t been revealed yet, it’s clear that he has turned the tables. Subsequently, Choi Joong Rak (Jang Hyuk Jin), Jung Chae Bong (Kim Jung Hyun), Han Jae Ho (Lee Yoo Joon), and Lee Du Geun (Oh Ryoong) seem to be in full panic mode as things don’t go according to plan.
