The film focuses on the life of Antoni Benaiges , a teacher from Mont-roig del Camp, in the Baix Camp, in Tarragona, Catalunya, who in 1935 was sent to the public school in Bañuelos de Bureba, a small town in the province of Burgos, Castilla la Vieja (Castilla y León). Little by little, and thanks to a pioneering and revolutionary teaching methodology for the time, he will begin to transform the lives of his students, but also that of the town, which is not always to everyone's taste.

It's based on the book of the same name by Francesc Escribano and has been adapted for the big screen by Albert Val, and its director is Patrícia Font.

To tell the story of Antoni Benaiges (Enric Auquer), the film interweaves past and present and the master's story will be known through the eyes of Ariadna (Laia Costa), a woman looking for her great-grandfather who disappeared during the Civil War.

The producers of the film wanted to emphasize the essence of this exciting story: " 'El mestre que va prometre el mar'  is a great story that has been unfairly forgotten for many years. With this film we are repairing an oblivion and at the same time valuing the work of the republican teachers and recognizing the struggle of so many people who still continue to search for their relatives buried anonymously in mass graves. An exciting and fully valid story.

Part of the technical team is made up of David Valldepérez, director of photography; Josep Rosell, art director; Dani Arregui, editor, and Natasha Arizu, composer, among other professionals.  

The film is shot for six weeks in various locations in the demarcation of Barcelona, in Mura, and in Briviesca (Burgos). It is a production of Minoria Absoluta, Lastor Media, Filmax and Mestres Films AIE. 

RTVE and TV3 participate and it has the support of the ICAA and the ICEC . Filmax is in charge of distribution to cinemas.

Production design: Jean-Vincent Puzos. Film editing: Nadine Muse, Monika Willi.   Michael Haneke’s Amour, a depiction of the mundane pains and frustrations of caring for a disabled spouse, mostly avoids the pitfalls of sentimentality and melodrama, thanks in very large part to the brilliance of his actors, Jean-Louis Trintignant, Emmanuelle Riva, and Isabelle Huppert. Trintignant and Riva are Georges and Anne, retired piano teachers whom we first see at the triumphant performance by one of her former pupils, Alexandre (the real pianist Alexandre Tharaud). Shortly afterward, Anne suffers a mild stroke and submits to surgery to eliminate an arterial blockage, but the surgery leaves her paralyzed on the right side. Georges is able to cope with his caregiving duties, though Anne is increasingly distressed by her disability and by the burden it places on her husband. At one point she tells him that she wants to die. Another stroke then leaves her mostly speechless and virtually helpless, forcing Georges to hire part-time nursing help. Their daughter, Eva (Huppert), has her own life to live, and urges Georges to put Anne in institutional care, which he resists because of Anne's previously expressed wish to die in their home, not in a hospital. Unfortunately, despite inspired performances and mostly sensitive direction, the climax and the conclusion of Amour ring a little false, perhaps because the fictional construct demands a somewhat artificial closure to a film that has felt genuine up to that point. Amour received Oscar nominations for best picture, for Riva's performance, and for Haneke's direction and screenplay, and it won the best foreign-language film award.

Money Heist Season 4 Recap: For Nairobi!

If there’s one thing that can be said about Money Heist, it’s that it’s been a wild ride. Even the way the show got popular was crazy. The original Spanish series, La Casa de Papel (literally translated as “the house of paper”), was cancelled after one season. But when Netflix picked it up, the show blew up. It blew up like an exploding bank vault with a resounding boom that was heard all around the world. The show became the most watched non-English series on Netflix, not to mention a global symbol of resistance. 

Calling the upcoming bulk of episodes the fifth season can be a bit confusing, as the show’s story structure is different from the traditional TV model. Money Heist masters the cliffhanger, and all the season divisions just intensify that. There have only been two heists and we’re still in the middle of the second one. The first heist was the original series: the Royal Mint of Spain caper, told in two parts. That comprised seasons 1 and 2. The second heist is the robbery of the Bank of Spain. It had Netflix Bank, so its production budget is much fatter. The Bank of Spain heist is being told in four parts. Seasons 3 and 4 comprise the first half of that heist. The upcoming Season 5, Part 1 will be followed by a Season 5, Part 2 slated for this December. Only then will we find out if the gang gets away with it. 

Before things get rolling again, let’s look back at where season 4 left us…

Lisbon rejoined the gang

After being captured at the beginning of season 3, Lisbon (Itziar Ituño) spent most of season 4 illegally detained and under brutal interrogation by the ruthless Inspector Sierra (Najwa Nimri). In the season 4 finale, the Professor (Álvaro Morte) stages a daring escape to free Lisbon. And with even more elaborate play, he orchestrates getting her inside the Bank of Spain to reunite with the gang.

Given that the gang seems hopelessly surrounded in the bank, it seems ridiculous that Lisbon would want to go there. However, it’s important to remember that Lisbon began on the opposite side. In season 1, she was Inspector Murillo in charge of investigating the heist. She flipped to the gang’s side out of her love for the Professor. 

Lisbon had a lot to prove to the gang. Despite spending most of her time apart from them, she was accepted because the Professor accepted her. Her confrontations with Sierra will surely escalate as the former Inspector-turned-bank-robber goes head-to-head with the new inspector. And now that she’s in full cahoots with the gang, the cleverness she’s demonstrated throughout the entire series will certainly level up the intrigue.

The gang still needs to get the gold

The plan is to melt the gold down to transport out of the bank. According to Lisbon’s stalling-tactic testimony, 50 tons of gold are melted down already. That leaves 40 more to go, little past the halfway point, which coincides with where the series is. Seasons 3 and 4 were 8 episodes each. Seasons 5 and 6 are shorter with only 5 episodes per season. 

While the gang succeeded with the first heist despite impossible odds, nothing is ever certain when it comes to Money Heist. Jesús Colmenar, the producer of Money Heist, promises that this is the final battle where they pull out all the stops. “I can tell you for sure that this is the biggest and the most thrilling one,” teases Colmenar. 

Is Gandia still alive?

Season 3 introduced Gandia (José Manuel Poga), the head of security for the Bank of Spain and the most despised villain of the series. A former black ops agent, he’s highly skilled in stealth combat. He strangled Helsinki (Darko Perić), and held Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) captive, but his greatest offense is what he did to Nairobi (Alba Flores). The gang used him as a ruse to get Lisbon in the bank, but during the chaos, he tried to break free. Helsinki (Darko Perić) stopped him by smashing his head into the staircase rail, but it’s unclear whether he killed him or just knocked him out. If he did die, it was an understated death scene for Money Heist. 

Although some fans theorize that Gandia is dead, it’s more likely he survived. The season 5 trailer teases a scene of Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) kicking a bloodied Gandia, but trailers can be deceiving. Knowing how Money Heist constantly ups the ante, Gandia will surely take advantage again somehow. He’s too wicked of a villain to ignore. 

New gang members

The second heist introduced several new gang members and conspirators. There was the squad of Asturian miners tunneled to the garage to break out Lisbon, led by Moscow’s (Paco Tous) friend, Benjamín (Ramón Agirre). However, the most interesting new gang member Benjamín’s daughter. She is on the inside and she just came into play in a big way. 

Manila (Belén Cuesta) was introduced in season 3 as a childhood friend of Denver’s (Jaime Lorente) that was recruited to be an undercover hostage. But when Denver knew her, she was Juan. She’s transgender. Sor far, she’s been in the background, snitching on the hostages to the gang. But that changed in the season 4 finale when she blew her cover to shoot hostage and former director of the Royal Mint, Arturo (Enrique Arce). Now that she’s outed, Manila can add to the gang’s complexity. 

Arturo had it coming. Arturo has emerged as even more despicable than when he was having an affair with his secretary and got her pregnant in season 1. She flipped to join the gang after she fell for Denver, adopting the most appropriate alias of the gang, Stockholm (Mónica Gaztambide). In season 3, Arturo drugs and rapes Amanda (Olalla Hernández) one of the other hostages. He tries the same with Manila, but she was on to him. 

Sierra got the drop on the Professor

After Colonel Tamayo (Fernando Cayo) threw Sierra under the bus saying she had to take the blame for the bank heist fiasco, she went rogue and managed to track down the Professor on her own. She declared ‘checkmate’ when she found his hideout and had him at gunpoint. 

For Sierra, it’s been a personal battle. She’s obsessed with winning the psychological chess game with the Professor and been the only investigator that has had a clue about his deceptiveness. Is it mood swings from her pregnancy? Or is she just psycho that way?

One thing is very probable. Sierra is very pregnant. And knowing Money Heist, she’ll go into labor at a critical point. That’s been an imminent gamechanger from the beginning of season 3. It’s just a matter of when. Will it be season 5 or season 6? 

For Nairobi!

Nairobi had a tough season 4. She began on a makeshift operating table after Sierra had lured her to the window using her son as bait, and then ordered a sniper shoot her in the chest. Incredibly (well, not so incredible for the absurd plot twists of Money Heist) Nairobi recovered, thanks to Tokyo’s nascent surgery skills. 

But then Gandia caught Nairobi and tortured her, tying her to a door and mercilessly shooting her in the hand. Then, just as the gang had negotiated her release, Gandia shot Nairobi in the head. There’s no coming back from that, no matter how lucky Tokyo is as a surgeon. Her coffin bearing the words ‘La Puta Ama’ (the fucking boss) was carried out of the bank with more respect than any of the deaths preceding her.

Gandia’s kill shot went right into the gut of every fan. Nairobi was a beloved character. Coming from poor roots, she was a single mom and the most kindhearted member of the gang. When Lisbon finally reunites with the gang at the season 4 finale, they chant “For Nairobi!” in a scene that sends chills down the spine of every Money Heist fan. 

Will this be the end of Nairobi? Berlin (Pedro Alonso) sacrificed his life so the gang could escape at the end of the first heist but returned in flashbacks in seasons 3 and 4. Although Nairobi is clearly dead, her memory lives on, and hopefully we’ll see more of her. For Nairobi!

Un asesinato, tres víctimas… Y un hombre acusado de ser el responsable. ‘En el corredor de la muerte’ está inspirada en la historia real de Pablo Ibar, que aún hoy lucha por demostrar su inocencia. La historia de una familia que nunca se ha rendido.

Miguel Ángel Silvestre vuelve a la televisión en España con ‘En el corredor de la muerte’, la nueva serie original de Movistar+ en colaboración con Bambú Producciones.

Basada en la historia real de Pablo Ibar (interpretado por Miguel Ángel Silvestre), el español-estadounidense que acaba de ser declarado culpable de un triple asesinato que tuvo lugar en Florida en 1994. En el que ha sido el cuarto juicio para Ibar, el jurado alcanzó el veredicto unánime de los seis cargos que pesaban en su contra. Ahora Ibar tendrá que esperar hasta el 25 de febrero para conocer su condena.

Creada por Ramón Campos, Gema R. Neira y Diego Sotelo (Bambú Producciones), y basada en el libro de Nacho Carretero, que ya trabajaron juntos anteriormente en la ficción ‘Fariña’.  ‘En el corredor de la muerte’ está coproducida con STUDIOCANAL, que además asumirá su distribución internacional.

La ficción constará de 4 episodios de 50 minutos y estará dirigida por Carlos Marques Marcet. ‘En el corredor de la muerte’ se encuentra actualmente en fase de rodaje y llegará próximamente a Movistar+.

AVANCE DEL CAST

Pablo Ibar (actor Miguel Ángel Silvestre): Pablo, un joven que tenía sueños y una vida por delante que se trunca el día que lo acusan de los asesinatos. Una investigación deficiente, interrogatorios sin un abogado presente, un juicio injusto, un abogado incompetente, una sentencia desproporcionada y una esperanza recurrente: la de que el juicio se repita.

Tanya Ibar (actriz Marisé Álvarez): Tanya, novia de Pablo, acaba convirtiéndose en su esposa y madre de sus dos hijos. Una mujer que cree en la inocencia de Pablo de manera incondicional porque la noche de los hechos Pablo dormía a su lado. Cuando lo encarcelaron, ella tenía 16 años. Era una niña. Creció, maduró, se casó, fue madre con Pablo entre rejas. Sin tocarlo durante períodos de años. Sin verlo en otro lugar que no fuera en la sala de visitas o en la corte. Sin mirarlo con otra ropa que no fuera el mono naranja.

Cándido Ibar (actor Ramón Agirre): Cándido, padre de Pablo, es un histórico pelotari vasco emigrado a Florida en los años 60. El día del juicio en que su hijo fue condenado, mientras le colocaban las esposas, Pablo, entre lágrimas, susurró: “Se me acabó la vida”. Se giró hacia su padre y le preguntó: “¿Y ahora qué?”. Cándido respondió: “No sé cómo, pero si es cuestión de dinero vamos a conseguirlo”.

Cristina (actriz Laura de la Uz): Cristina, madre de Pablo. En la madrugada del 14 al 15 de julio, Cándido escuchó la voz de Cristina, su ex mujer, al otro lado de la línea: “Han detenido a Pablo”. Desde aquel día, Cristina no volvió a ver a su hijo; murió de cáncer mientras Pablo estaba en la cárcel.

Michael (actor Pau Poch): Michael, hermano de Pablo. Tras la detención de su hermano, la situación para Michael se volvió asfixiante. La policía le empezó a hacer la vida imposible. Cada vez que se cruzaba con ellos, lo paraban. Durante unos meses le llegaron a pedir la documentación casi a diario. A veces le subían al coche patrulla, otras veces le robaban dinero e incluso le llegaron a golpear. Bastaba con que el agente leyera su apellido. Todo con el telón de fondo de habladurías vecinales, rumores y cuchicheos que lo señalaban en la ciudad como el hermano del asesino. Michael cayó en una depresión.

Phil Gentile (actor Gianpiero Cognoli) y Charles Bennet (actor Simão Cayatte): Los primeros en llegar al macabro escenario fueron los detectives Phil Gentile y Charles Bennet de la Policía de Miramar, un cuerpo policial reducido y sin demasiados medios. La brutalidad del triple asesinato escandaliza a los vecinos y el caso se convierte en mediático. La presión recae sobre los agentes. Detienen a Pablo y ellos lo interrogan. Pablo no sabe de qué se le acusa y no solicita un abogado, pero el interrogatorio es grabado. Sin embargo, cuando meses después, los abogados de Pablo piden una copia de la cinta, la policía afirma que no existe. Los detectives imprimieron la captura del vídeo del asalto de Miramar en la que uno de los asesinos se descubre el rostro y se dirigieron a casa de amigos y familiares de Pablo para que lo identificaran. Encontrar un testigo se antojaba fundamental. No escatimaron en tretas.

Benjamin Waxman (actor Nick Devlin): El actual abogado de Pablo. “Siento una presión tremenda. Me veo como algo más que un abogado. Y llevo con esta presión sobre los hombros unos 10 años”. “Defender la vida de alguien es una responsabilidad tremenda. Hay momentos en los que es abrumador. Inevitablemente estoy emocionalmente implicado en este caso. No hay nada que quiera más que ganar el caso de Pablo. Pero sé que solo con mi deseo es insuficiente. Tengo que hacer mi trabajo lo mejor posible y centrar toda mi atención y concentración en esto”.

Mike Rowland (Eric Goode): Mike Rowland, el fiscal, era un viejo conocido del Tribunal del Condado de Broward y famoso por su dureza. Rowland ofreció a Pablo un trato: si se declaraba culpable, retiraba la petición de condena de muerte para convertirla en cadena perpetua. Pablo se negó. Le dijo que era inocente, que no iba a cumplir ninguna condena.

Clay Monroe (Ben Temple): Primer abogado de Pablo. El 11 de enero de 1999 arrancó el segundo juicio. Lo que Pablo se encuentra es una caricatura de un abogado: Clay Monroe llegaba a las sesiones empapado en sudor y descentrado, y le llegó a confesar a Pablo que estaba enganchado a los ansiolíticos. La mañana en la que Pablo entró en la corte para la selección de jurado, vio cómo Monroe salía de la misma instancia esposado. La noche anterior había sido detenido por supuesto maltrato a su mujer, que, embarazada de tres meses y enganchada a varias sustancias, se había escapado del centro donde estaba internada para acudir a una fiesta. Pablo lo vio claro: “No hay ninguna forma de que pueda ganar”. SINOPSIS

27 de enero de 1994. Los cuerpos de un hombre y dos modelos de 25 años, aparecen acribillados a tiros en casa del dueño de un club nocturno. La policía encuentra una cámara instalada en el salón de la víctima que ha grabado el asesinato. Esas imágenes son la pista principal de la policía. Por eso, se decide distribuir lo más valioso que hay en ellas: el rostro borroso de uno de los asaltantes. Tres semanas más tarde, en una comisaría de otro distrito, un agente cree reconocer a uno de los asesinos: es Pablo Ibar, un hombre de nacionalidad española al que acababan de detener junto a unos amigos por un robo menor. Pablo asegura que es inocente. Ninguna de las pruebas halladas en el lugar del crimen lo inculpan… Pero de nada sirve. Pablo es condenado y enviado al corredor de la muerte.
