Notes: Sequel to Cherry Vermouth

Warnings: Mild alcohol

Mikaela lost count to how many patrons requested him to make their drinks tonight. The bar was packed yet again during the wee hours and he wasn't all that flattered by the attention he was receiving. But for the sake of work, he had to bear with it... more so because Yuuichirou wasn't singing tonight.

It made him a bit angry because not being able to hear Yuuichirou sing was like not being able to breathe. Out of all the singers affiliated in Shibuya Dice bar, Yuuichirou was the only one Mikaela liked. He had been there when Yuuichirou was working as a waiter before being promoted as a singer due to his determination and hard work for the position. His work ethic inspired Mikaela to do his best, and ever since then, Mikaela had been making special cocktails reserved only for Yuuichirou to taste.

It was a shame that Yuuichirou was unaware of what the cocktails mean and the messages Mikaela discreetly hid behind them. But then again, Yuuichirou couldn't be entirely blamed for not knowing since he wasn't taught long enough prior to his promotion.

Mikaela had hoped to work together with Yuuichirou some time on the bar counter while he listened to him sing. But now, it seemed that he would have to silently admire the raven from a far while he entertained the guests with his songs. It was infuriating, yet it was what his employer chose before Yuuichirou's predecessor retired.

Mikaela sighed sadly as he wiped a wine glass dry, which he almost dropped in surprise when someone in a bunny maskot costume sat in front of him.

"Whew, this costume is kinda warm on the inside." Yuuichirou's voice laughed as he pulled the hood away from his face.

"Yuu..." Mikaela started slowly with his eyes darting on Yuuichirou's outfit. "What are you wearing?"

"Oh, this?" Yuuichirou looked down at himself. "It's Akane's birthday and she specially requested me to wear this to give the kids something to get excited about and take pictures of."

"I see..." Mikaela said nonchalantly, but deep inside, he was smiling. So Yuuichirou spent his day off visiting the Hyakuya orphanage and celebrating Akane's birthday there? Yuuichirou's kindness really held no bounds. It was another reason why Mikaela was so fond of him.

"You must be tired from that. Let me make you something before you go to sleep." Mikaela suggested as he started to prepare ingredients for a cocktail.

Yuuichirou quickly perked up at the offer, causing a light blush to form on his face. "T-That's okay, Mika, you don't have to. I'm fine."

"Nonsense. You're sweaty all over and you look like you're out of breath. I can't have you looking like that when you return to Guren-san. He'll be mad at you... again." Mikaela countered as he took out a Madeira glass and his shaker, putting a variety amount of peach and raspberry flavored liquors into the metallic tin using the jigger.

"The raven nightingale is the star of Shibuya Dice..." Mikaela quoted while he added some ice in the shaker, along with some sparkling rosé, white rum and champagne measured in half cups. Once he was done, he twisted the shaker lid close with its strainer and cover, glancing at Yuuichirou who stared at him in awe.

"... and he must look his best at all times." Mikaela then proceeded to take his shaker and move it to the beat of the song playing in the background, following the precussions and notes that were coincidentally that of sultry, latin music.

He could feel eyes on him with his performance, attracting the attention of many customers, but he paid them no mind. All that mattered was that Yuuichirou was watching him intently. His green eyes raking his form and taking in his every move. It made heat rise within his body at the thought of Yuuichirou looking at nobody but him.

Though he dared not to show it because of his work (and also because they were in public), he served the drink with peach garnish before presenting it to Yuuichirou with a straw. "Roséberry Sangria, on the house."

"... It's beautiful," Yuuichirou's eyes sparkled in excitement, admiring the cocktail and taking a sip. The flavors of peach and raspberry intermingled in his tongue, and Yuuichirou squeaked a bit. "It's amazing. Even though I'm not really a fan of sweet-sour stuff, I can't help but smile after a taste."

As Yuuichirou was taking another sip, an idea popped in his mind. "Ah! Maybe that's what this drink means! Beautiful smile! Oh, wait, that's a bit vague, right?"

Mikaela shrugged and he placed his shaker on the sink to wash it, idly hearing Yuuichirou drinking near him until a slurping sound was made. Yuuichirou finished his drink, it seemed.

"Ah..." Yuuichirou blinked before he poked his tongue out sheepishly. "It seems that I enjoyed it far more than I expected."

"It seems so..."

Mikaela's somewhat uncaring reply made Yuuichirou pout.

"But now I'll have an upset stomach and a headache becasue of this..." He complained.

"No, you won't because I made sure that it had low alcohol content. You can rest easy, Yuu."

That made Yuuichirou pause. "Really...? Why?"

"... For you to have nice dreams, perhaps?"

From the corner of his eye, Mikaela could see Yuuichirou blush red at the answer and he shyly hid away his eyes behind his bangs, shifting nervously on his seat. He didn't say anything for a while before he stood up.

"... Thanks for the drink." Yuuichirou muttered as he pulled the bunny hoodie over his now warm face before he retreated to his quarters.

The reaction made Mikaela smile simply at how cute it was.

"You're close, but Roséberry Sangria means..." Mikaela murmured, lightly tracing the rim of the wine glass with his finger. His blue eyes secretly looking up to glance at Yuuichirou's leaving form before he took the fragile ware to wash it, remembering Yuuichirou's smile when he tried to hide. "You're beautiful when you smile."

A grin curved on Mikaela's lips simply because Yuuichirou almost figured out the message of the drink. It would only be a matter of time before Yuuichirou realized the meaning of 'Cherry Vermouth', something Mikaela wouldn't miss that the world.

danganronpa cosplay wig masterlist
