Hi! I have a question on the way Armand views humanity. Does he view all humans as below him? Or does he see some humans as “better” than others? Similarly to how Lestat values humans in the arts?

You know, I reblogged a post just earlier, on Armand, here, and the thing is... you try to apply human mentality to Armand.

But Armand... does not think that way.

He... thinks a lot... let's call it "colder", though it isn't cold, if that makes sense. He looks at things, and wants to know what happens. He calls those who wish to die, and yet rips off scalps of his victims, to look at them. He fantasizes about raping someone, and then apologizes for it. He sees the entombed monks and wishes to feel this sublimation. He mixes stuff in blenders, by color, puts rats in the microwave. He chops of Claudia's head to try to give her a grown-up body and then puts her into the sun. He hunts and kills young vampires wherever he is because they are a nuisance to him and this is ingrained in him, through centuries as a coven master. He stares at himself while he sleeps, rewatches films a dozen time.

Most of these are book canon things, I'm aware, though the show has picked up some of these already, hinted at others.

Armand... is beyond humans.

It's not that he sees them as "below", there are mortals in the books he loves very much and it hurts him immensely when their humanity is taken away, but these are individuals - humanity, humans... are not something he cares about outside them being food category.

It's not cruelty per se, nor indifference.

He has just lived for so long already, and with such a mind set and history that... humanity passes him by, for the most part.

Some very specific individuals excluded, of course :) Like Daniel, and Sybille and Benji.

But he does not... have a "category" he sees as special, let's maybe put it that way. :)

Though, that said - all three, Daniel, Sybille and Benji... saved a part of his soul and heart, in a way.

So maybe that.
