Visitors to this tiny community are drawn in by the abundance of stunning, remote routes. On Sinharaja's eastern border, a 16 km route connects Rakwana and Suriyakanda. It may be recognized as a region with a warm climate and a misty setting surrounded by stunning mountains. The Little Eighteen Bend is another name for this path that winds through the mountains and through waterfalls over the Springwood Estate. Ten elbow bends on the road, in the midst of tall Russa trees, give it its form.

This route provides a great picture of the pure water running from the natural little streams on either side, surrounded by lovely tea plantations and gently rising hills. Hadapan Falls and a number of other little waterfalls and water pools may be seen after crossing Rakwana.

Motorcyclists and children love Suriya Kanda and that route. Although this mountain range is surrounded by a dewy atmosphere that is frequently coated in dewdrops, it is also connected to a significant number of killings that are thought to have been perpetrated by Jepsen in 1994. The souls of Suriyakanda are still mute. According to some, Asena is a forlorn region where the wind weeps and where the dead sometimes manifests themselves as ghosts at night.

The Rakwana observation point and the 10-lane road give stunning views of the ecology, but the TV and ITN transmission towers at the summit of Suriyakanda are off-limits to the general public. The road from Rakwana to Sooriyakanda involves ten bends that correspond to the 18 elbow bends encountered on the way to Mahiyangana.
