Another distinctive and stunning waterfall in Sri Lanka, Pahanthudawa is situated 19 kilometers from Balangoda and around 2 kilometers from the little village of Belihuloya on the A4 road. This waterfall's name derives from its natural setting, both in terms of location and nature. The bottom of the supposedly infinitely deep lake formed by the Panthudawa waterfall is modest yet deep. Its name is derived from the fact that it resembles the wick of a lamp (Pahana โ€“ a lamp). Hence, Pahanthudawa Falls is the name given to the waterfall. The flame-like component that is created coupled with the 5 m high waterfall has given it its actual significance. In the Ratnapura District of the Sabaragamuwa Province's Samanalawewa Tourist Zone is where you'll find the Pahanthudawa waterfall.
It is also known locally as "Galagama Ella." Additionally, it is sometimes referred to as "Pahanthuda Ella." This waterfall originates in the "Hawagala" mountain range. Inside are two waterfalls with wonderful views. After that, you can relax your thoughts. Additionally, you could experience anew the wonder of nature. Before it empties into Samanala Wewa Reservoir, this waterfall is the last one that Belihul Oya has to offer.

Sri Lanka's Sabaragamuwa and Uva Provinces' borders are shared by Udawalawe National Park. The park was established to safeguard the catchment of the reservoir and to offer a sanctuary for wild creatures driven from their natural habitat by the construction of the Udawalawe Reservoir on the Walawe River. The reserve was formed on June 30, 1972, and it has a total land size of 30,821 hectares (119,00 sq mi). Before the region was designated as a national park, shifting agriculture was practiced there (chena farming). Once the national park was established, the farmers gradually disappeared. 165 kilometers (103 miles) separate Colombo from the park. Elephants from Sri Lanka and waterbirds both depend on Udawalawe as a habitat.
Of all the Sri Lankan national parks, Udawalawe National Park is home to the most Asian elephants. Elephant sightings are almost a given on a safari through Udawalawe National Park because of the abundance of water that draws them there.

Official Narrative
12/08/2024
Hi everyone! I'm back online to type in a very important post! As the title of this post suggests, this will be the narrative I'll be following for my 3D project.
I know I haven't done a lot of 3D modeling yet. But I can make a lot of time after the break and even in September to get all the modeling and texturing work done.
The important thing now is to create a solid narrative that acts as a foundation for everything!
Idea for the narrative -
The idea for the narrative came to me yesterday while I was doing research on the Reasons for the rainforest to be named 'Sinharaja' and the 'Sinhabahu' mythology.
I was trying my best figure out a good way to incorporate the Sinhabahu myth into the history of the Sinharaja forest in a way that it makes sense. Luckily, the research I did was in my favor.
According to one of the popular folk stories for the rainforest receiving its name 'Sinharaja', the forest was essentially linked to the origins of the Sinhalese race. The Sinhalese race was born out of the union between the lion king and a princess who happened to live in the forest. It sounds an awful lot familiar like the case of Suppadevi and the lion living in a cave out in the wilderness. [From the Sinhabahu myth]
However, if we think from the perspective of the Sinhabahu myth, the union between Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali is what lead to the birth of the Sinhalese race since they gave birth to king Vijaya. [ According to the Mahawansa, King Vijaya is known to be the first king of Sri Lanka]
So, I had to ask myself this question, " How can we place King Sinhabahu and Sinha Seevali in Lanka's Sinharaja forest? "
And then I was finally able to create a link and create a narrative that in a way re-writes history...
[It was also convenient to come up with this narrative since there's no mentioning of what happened to Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali after King Vijaya was banished to Lanka]
The Official Narrative -
Historical context
A few months after king Sinhabahu had banished his son [Vijaya] to Lanka, Sinha seevali grows restless and concern for her son's wellbeing. She begs Sinhabahu to take her to Lanka and he eventually gives in to her request.
Along with an army of men, Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali set sail to Lanka. However, a storm disrupts their pathway to thambapanni [Presently known as Kudiramalai point], and their ship lands near the southern province. From there, they all walk to the Sabaragamuwa province and continue North.
While on their journey, they enter into the 'Sinharaja forest' and become enchanted by the beautiful flora and fauna present. Enchanted by the beauty and magic of the forest, Sinhabahu requests his men to build a cave for him and his wife to take comfort in. Sinhabahu named this cave the 'Sinha Gala'. [ Reference to 'story 3'] It was the cave in which Sinhabahu and Sinha Seevali took rest and left behind their treasures in.
Eventually, Sinhabahu became the leader of the 'Saparayo' [Sinhalese people at the time] who lived in the forest as a result of his power and strength.
Regardless of their long time spend living in the forest, they never stopped searching for Vijaya. Instead of going back to India, Sinhabahu and Sinha seevail decided to stay back and continuously search for Vijaya until they eventually meet their end. [Reasons unknown for causes of death]
2. Present Context
At present, the 'Sinha Gala' cave lies at the center of the rain forest and contains some of the treasures and weaponry left behind by Sinhabahu and Sinha Seevali. However, there's a rumor that an invisible barrier is present at the entrance to the cave. Many people believe that the spirits of Sinhabahu's army block the entrance of the cave as a means of protecting the souls of Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali that rest in the cave. Only a direct descendent of Vijaya's blood is granted access by the spirits of the king's army to enter the cave.
[I guess it's a good way to make the audience feel cool and interested about entering the cave and seeing the props and the artifact inside]
That's basically it for the narrative. Personally, I really like this narrative and truly believe it acts as a solid base. I think it serve as a good myth as it continues the untold story of what happened to Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali after Vijaya was banished to Lanka. The present-day supernatural activities of the cave add more flavor to the story. It goes to show ' destined fate ' [Since Sinhabahu and Sinha seevali were born in a cave and die in a cave together] and also 'the significance of bloodline ties'. [ Since the person (camera) entering the cave will have access to enter]
That's all for this post. I'm hoping to get started with more concept artwork, so I'll have the right references to continue my work in progress for modeling! Thank you for reading :D
