Well, it's game day! The matches were not until the afternoon though so I decided to visit the Rail Park in the morning. It's a similar idea to the High Line in New York - A garden built on what used to be an elevated railway line. Philly's version is still being created and only phase one is open. It's not as impressive as the High Line yet but they have big plans for it so it might well be one day. You can see from the first picture that it doesn't look like much when you first arrive but once you get up there they have lots of interesting plants. There are also art installations and they have music there in the evenings.

The line that the park is built on originally went into Reading Terminal which is now a huge covered food market with lots of different types to choose from. I'd gone out early this morning, so I wasn't hungry for anything (though lots of the cakes and cookies looked amazing) but I still liked looking at all the different vendors, although most are set up to sell breakfast, lunch or snacks to tourists there are also fruit and veg and fresh fish stalls.

A nice, chilled morning before the games which were a nice, though very warm experience. Fulham played Brentford first and then Newcastle played Aston Villa with a 40 minute break in between. It was a bit strange being surrounded by people supporting four different teams (I also saw someone walking around in a Watford shirt - your guess is as good as mine) but I sat next to two American Newcastle fans who were so genuinely thrilled to be sat next to a real live British person that it made me feel very special.

Had one last treck through #readingterminal to load up on lunch & snacks for our drive back to Orlando for Megacon. This has been our 3rd year venturing up here with @sillyrabbitcrafts & we've always had a great time doing so! It sucks to leave, but we know 2019 will be here before we know it LOL! Best Sandwiches in America?

 Dinic’s opened up shop 100 years ago in 1918 under the name Nicolosi’s. Nicolosi’s was originally a butchery that sold specialty roasts for their customers. It wasn’t until 1954 that Nicolosi’s was converted to a restaurant and started selling sandwiches. Then in 1977 the Nicolosi family partnered with the DiClaudio family and Dinic’s was born. Dinic’s has been a staple of Philadelphian cuisine ever since, earning multiple awards including Man vs. Food’s Best Sandwich in America.

Price: (7/10)Considering Dinic’s location at the Reading Terminal Market, their prices are more than comparable with the restaurants around them. Any meal you get in Center Philly excluding food trucks will not be cheap but at $10-$14 a meal at Dinic’s you can get out without breaking the bank. The base cost of each sandwich is $8.25 with the exception of the Italian style pulled pork which costs $8.50. The sandwich comes with just meat and cheese and greens are $1.00 each or $1.75 for both. If you do not order the extras the meal is just not the same, which is how Dinic’s gets you to spend extra money. Drinks are $1.50 each. For around $12 you can get a full meal so I give Dinic’s a 7/10.

Taste:(9/10) I ordered the Roast Pork Sandwich with sharp provolone and broccoli rabe . This was without a doubt the best sandwich I have ever had. The meat was juicy, full of flavor, and melted in your mouth. The sharp provolone was the perfect cheese for the sandwich, slightly harder with a strong taste. The broccoli rabe tasted salty and garlicky and added a nice contrast to the meat. However, I believe that the key to a great sandwich is not what is in the sandwich, but the roll it comes in. In 2012, Dinic’s changed their roll provider from Carangi to Sarcone’s. Both places bake some of the best italian rolls in the country but Sarcone’s rolls are my personal favorite. These rolls contain so much taste before it sucks up all the juices from the meats. The combination of the rolls and the meats truly make this the best sandwich in America. My friends ordered the italian style pulled pork and the italian sausage, with sharp provolone and sweet peppers on both. These sandwiches were on par with the roast pork, very tasty and filling. You cannot go wrong ordering any sandwich off the menu. 9/10

Service:(8/10) The line at Dinic’s moves fast. This is mainly due to the limited menu options available, and the conveyor belt style they use to make the sandwiches. We spent about 5 minutes in the to-go line at least 20 people deep when we realized 4 booth seats opened up right in front of us. We skipped the line, sat down, and a waitress was there to take our order within the minute. The food came fast and the server was nice. We could not have been happier with the service.

Nutrition:(6/10) One roast pork sandwich from Dinic’s is around 705 calories, 56 grams of fat, 40 grams of carbs and 40 grams of protein. It provides no other vitamins or fiber etc. Safe to say this is not the healthiest meal we have had, but it was not the worst either. I would place Dinic’s slightly above Wendy’s and slightly below chipotle in our scale.
