I'm not including a situation where someone might be injured because in that case I'm thinking the bed goes to them by default or they are nominated for it. anyone who wants to be chatty goes to join the living room floor gang.

What are your thoughts and headcanons? Do you have thoughts on how the boys tend to approach assigning beds in inns? Who do the chain choose to sleep near when camping and why? What are their dynamics like when settling down for the night and getting ready for the day?

In "Mirror Vs Open Closet Door: Fight!" by Gintrinsic (here) Four refers to the chain's decision on how to split up between inn rooms as the "Link-per-room ratio" which I find very funny. He, Sky, and Time also talk about their thought process behind why they do or don't want to sleep in a room with some of the others which I find fun and interesting.

What do you think happens most often though?#each answer is a fun scenario so it's difficult to choose #but I think they'd try to act politely around Malon and Time for the first couple visits with straws or rock paper scissors #or showing generosity by offering the bed to someone else. (I bet Malon saying they're charming is quite the incentive #for more possible compliments. The chain as a whole would want to prove her right xD )#Once they're more comfortable in the house though I can totally see Wind and Legend making a mad dash for it while Wars yells after them xD #Wind probably ends up sharing with Four a lot since they're the littles #or Wind snuggles in with Wars Legend Wild etc #Wild and Twi/Wolfie have claimed the spot on the floor by the fireplace.#For inn rooms / castle rooms / camping - I tend to group them by how they're grouped a lot already #but a lil mixed up #Time - Sky - Wars are the good rest trio. they want a good night's rest please let them get their beauty sleep. often joined by Four #Wars goes between this group and wherever Legend is depending on how chatty he is that night.#Twi - Wild - Hyrule are snuggle/proximity buddies #Legend is attached to Hyrule's hip or sets up near Warriors to gossip and gripe. I can also see him setting up near Wild #in the eye of the storm as it were or just an interesting place to be. Wild and Hyrule can get to chatting about everything and anything #so if Legend wants background noise (Hyrule and Wild podcast omg)-#or a conversation he can be half a part of and jump in and out of while getting ready for the night or in the mornings-#this is a good place to be. add Wind and things get a bit more chaotic.#Wind gravitates to Wars and Legend too when curious and chatty. He gravitates towards Time when he wants something calmer.#Four tends to be near Sky or Twi or to Legend's group for the same reasons #I can see Four and Twi having a little book club going during downtimes where they talk about what they're reading. Sky likes to listen. <3 #Wind thinks they're nerds but so is he and he can't resist a good story so he orbits and sometimes settles in and peppers questions.#it's funny that Time Sky and Wars want to sleep the most but Legend follows Wars to chat (and ends up bringing people with him xD )#there could be some conflict there oooo #Twi is by Time #it's almost a circle but with clusters of sleeping bags near on top of each other and filling the gaps

I love Thuggory he exists to be cool and hype up Hiccup, everyone goes ‘wow, Thuggory, he’s everything a Viking’s son should be, he’s strong, charismatic, and leaderly’ and he immediately turns around and says ‘OKAY EVERYONE, WE’RE LISTENING TO HICCUP NOW.’

#he’s there for like five scenes in three books but i stg I love him #so much #y’all remember when he brushed off a rock for hiccup to sit on while he problem solved?#there’s something to say about his modern Viking masculinity #how it reflects a readiness for mass cultural change among his and hiccup’s generation #in the way that he recognizes the value of Hiccup’s contributions and knows when to let someone else #even someone who isn’t at first glance the best choice #take charge #thuggery could have stayed quiet at any point and maintained the status quo but despite that and despite his position of privilege #he yelled at everyone in book 1 to shut up and let hiccup think #when hiccup and Valhalarama were at the prison and calling for supporters #thuggery was the first person to step forward #and importantly—he had the privilege to! he was important to the revolution because he was popular and had social influence!#he was the ideal Viking youth so if he supports hiccup everyone else should too!#in my fire metaphor he’s like tinder—only requiring hiccup’s spark to set him to change #and when he joins the whole prison sets itself ablaze #and again—hes someone willing to give up his privilege to do the right thing (support the weak and unwanted)#I’d say he probably recognizes the flaws in viking society and is ready for things to change #even if he isn’t entirely sure how. he just knows things should be different #he lets someone with better ideas step forward and take command content to back them up in self-recognition of his weak points #and demonstrating a humility not often seen in the Viking parents #am I ridiculous for typing all this out? yes #but in a story about revolution I think it’s work it to analyze the pieces and players #if thuggery has no fans I’m dead #httyd books #Thuggory the meathead #Thuggory #my post #I misspelled his name many times but I’m not going back to fix it!

you guys ever think about the absolutely wonderful parents the maitlands would’ve been? yeah, they’re more than great to lydia & i love seeing how they interact with her as paternal figures. that’s another post entirely

but that’s so different from them with a little kid. i mean, you can see it too, right? you know adam would be the best at making that kid laugh. “don’t worry, barb, honey. i’ve got this.” making silly faces to stop tears from scraped knees, ones that make his wife laugh, too.

barbara would sing to that baby every night. adam would find her asleep in the nursery and have to carry her to their bed, shaking his head with a smile as he checks the baby monitor to see her there again.

they deserved the life they didn’t get to finish living.

#song of the day #oh talk about a big-voice song! I can't quite do it justice but it is damn good to sing #did work on a bunch of not-work things today even though I have a big tricky project I have to give an official update on for Friday #but it's so much more fun to plan my garden and talk to Duncan about setting up a paludarium for the bullfrog he wants to keep #I'm going to have to tell my boss that I /can/ do what she wants but I don't think it'll help with any of the things she wants it for #and aaaahhhh she's not gonna like that. she's not gonna like that at all. I don't want to have that conversation #anyway I'm gonna plant my peas on Thursday! spring coming to save my life #going to the pet store hopefully this weekend to get a filter system so the water in Duncan's tank can start cycling #gonna trim down my spiderwort and see if I can't get some of the cuts to root by the time the tank's ready for live plants #plans! projects! I made palak paneer for dinner tonight and it was good. someday soon I'll sleep! and then Friday I will talk to my boss!#because if I don't do my job then I won't have any money and then I won't be able to afford plants and frog rocks and then we all cry

they should make office chairs that are better suited for rocking/swaying stimming

#N posts stuff #like most of them have that Slightly wobbly base #presumably due to the mechanism that allows the chair to be adjustable #but when you’re trying to Rock in them that little wobble is enough to throw off the whole sensory vibe #like it’s always Slightly out of sync with your body and it’s the Worst #flat set base chairs like high school desks or kitchen table chairs are Objectively better for rocking/swaying in. but. back pain :(#anyway off topic but i’m Just Now realizing that the reason why i feel so much more clear headed / ready to work JUST as i’m going to bed #probably has a Lot to do with the fact that i turn all the lights off and it becomes 100% darker in the room #and that it’s Very likely i have a general intolerance of Light as sensory input - MUCH 2 think about #(like i Knew this about fluorescent lights but it hasn’t occurred to me before that even my dimmer lights may be causing me problems)#anyway make chairs that won’t Eviscerate my spine that still let me rock back and forth for hours Now #autism tag
