feeling weird about a Work Development, which I somehow...figured out ahead of time? by observing various colleagues and mulling over possible causes for their behavior, plus running Bad Hypotheticals in my head.
at the time this seemed paranoid and like an invitation to worry, but in hindsight was good---it means when my boss called me into his office to discuss the Work Development, I sort of already knew and had a script ready to go to discuss it. (Unless you have VP or MD behind your name, this organization doesn’t care about you, is the kind of one-liner I typically only come up with after the conversation; instead, I came up with it beforehand, and got to use it! Weird sort of victory!)
I do think he was nonplussed by my calm, though, and my repeated “I knew this was coming” did not seem to register with him.
