Updated Hazard's refs + tried my hand at a silly comic edit of them!

The Hazard is a defense class who uses chemical weapons! They rely on prolonged exposure to their chemicals to increase damage and hinder enemy movement -- the longer they're exposed, the more damage they take from exposure and the slower they get :)

The RED, BLU, and Classic Hazards are each their own character, but all three of them are huge sticklers for safety -- they can often be found checking and double-checking (and triple-checking) their gear to make sure everything's working properly. Because of this, they also clean often, eventually ending up as a sort of unofficial janitor for the teams if the base gets too dirty/hazardous for their liking.

Zhanna: reeeeeeoow!!! She’s so gorgoryse . gay as hell about all these women tbh. Yeah I just gave her body hair and thicker eyebrows because it’s cool as fuck. And a bear claw scar from when she tried to take home a baby bear when she was little. I think she really likes bears and wants one as a pet. Maybe the bear and soldier’s raccoons would get along aww <33

Admin: yipppeee evil old lady!!!!! . Gave her acne scars , think she would pick her face when she was younger and the scars never faded. shes so pretty heruhghhsg. She smokes these fucked up super long cigarettes idk. I like her wonky nose, maybe she got into a fight or something and broke it.

Scouts Ma: oh man I have so many ideas for her hehehhe. Okay so her name is Jenny, shes Puerto Rican, moved to Boston when she was a young adult, and she’s around the same height as sniper. She’s green because she’s both the scouts mother, and I didn’t want her to be purple like Pauling and Admin I wanted her to be her own person. Her heart locket contains a bunch of pictures of her boys that all cartoonishly fold out to the floor when she opens it up.

She’s bi and poly, and currently dating both the spies because I think it’s funny. I can’t decide if both the spies would also be dating each other or would hate each other, maybe it depends on the time of day. Oh also she used to be an assassin! Maybe that’s why she had to move because she got found out at her old hometown. Anybody who got too rough with her boys were never seen again, only reason the scouts made it out alive lol.

She’s only recently gotten back together with the spies, had a falling out with Red before she knew she was pregnant, but he wanted to reconnect with her after finding out Red scout was his kid. Blu and her were friends for a really long time, she was the surrogate mother to Blu scout, but they fell out of contact when Blu spy had to take scout and disappear due to some espionage work gone wrong. When both the Blus join the team, the red scout recognized them and Blu spy eventually reconnected with Jen through that.

All of her kids are out of the house and she’s retired, so she has a lot of free time. She hosts foreign exchange students and fosters baby animals. She does a lot of traveling and shopping, she also likes knife and axe throwing, while doing some abstract sculpting on the side.

Maggie:

I love Maggie she’s so interesting,, I really like the panels where she’s laughing with saxton on the plane. Oh yeah gave her a mustache cus she’s Australian!, don’t be shy give the pretty lady a mustache she deserves it. That line on her lip was from this one girl I had a crush on back in high school, she said that she was bullied for it. don’t think I’ve ever seen it on another person since. She was one of the most beautiful people I’ve ever met. I hope she’s doing alright. She was a really good friend, real wonderful person.

Merasmus:

hi Merasmus how r u. oh yeah I’m trying out some other designs for her because I’m working on a little animated series about her and a magic spell she fucks up. I want her to be Sumerian because Sumer is so interesting!! I’ve been learning about the art from it in class, check out the Sumerian virtue status or the Epic of Gilgamesh they’re some of my favorite bits of history we’ve learned so far. Oh yeah also I think when she takes off that weird cap thing she has the longest most beautiful curly hair that goes down to her ankles because I love those kind of visual gags hehe. Also yeah she has piercings idk why I did that. I think she’s kinda blind and she uses her skull to see with her magic or whatever. Blu Medic- Unlike red he’s a licensed doctor lol. He’s a lot more stern and uptight. It’s almost like he’s trying so desperately to uphold this perfect image but due to the circumstances of their work he snaps and goes ballistic. He’s a lot more professional than his counterpart but he still gets morbid and is unnecessarily invasive. He’s quiet and unassuming but he has a lot of issues that start to appear the longer you’re with the guy.

Blu Soldier- Blu is much younger than red soldier and he isn’t insane like him lol. I would say blu is probably in his thirties. He was discharged from the military (for his fear of water and swimming rippp). He wasn’t in the military long but still went through boot camp and training. After the military he found himself doing weird odd jobs which eventually led him to Blu. He’s just as loud and boisterous as red and carries a false bravado around his teammates. His boldness is a way for him to cover up his insecurities. The only one who really knows this side to soldier is blu spy. A lot more observant and nosy (which annoys soldier lol). Blu soldier is the young man who believes fighting and the military was his purpose and talks about it nonstop.

Got That Cursed Dawg in Him

Whoo-ie, this took slightly longer than intended. I wanted to gift this piece to @averageludwig simply because I LOVE LOVE LOVE their art and their pieces of the Demoman & Soldier makes my heart do backflips AND front flips. This is also highly inspired by @waterwindow art on Twitter that I think about daily, on top of that I love their art and their pieces on Demo & Soldier too.

This is also my first time writing anything involving the TF2 peeps, and I feel like it shows a lot when writing dialogue for the Soldier and Demoman (I didn't bother with doing written accents because...no, not skilled or patient enough to bother with that lol).

Before we continue, just wanted to do a bit of housekeeping, BLU Soldier is named John Doe (full name Johnathan Dodger) and is essentially a BLU Team OC. Same with the BLU Demoman, their name is Harvey (full name Harvey MacLennan). So for those who are confused on why the Soldier is named John instead of Jane, that's why. I also like to interpret the BLU Soldier to be a tad bit smarter (still a massive himbo). Anyway, I hope you enjoy the read!

Warnings: Canon Typical Violence (it's not too gratuitous, but it's there), Unresolved Tension, mentions of murder, BLU Soldier is too dumb to not escalate situations to worse heights

John strains to keep himself upright, wobbly staying on his feet as he looks at the RED Demoman across from him under his helmet. Pained breaths escape him as he readjusts the grip on his shovel, having lost his rocket launcher in the fight long ago.

"Tavish," it hurts to talk as John forces himself to try to reach his former friend again, "Tavish, you need to snap out of it!"

He has tried, time and time again, since this fight reignited, to get Tavish to stop this bloodshed he was subjecting both teams to. John said he could talk him out of this blood-frenzied stupor that the RED Demoman was under, that there was no need to trap Tavish in the Respawn system. Or worse, cut him off from it completely. He can be reasoned with. He's one of the most reasonable men with both teams combined.

"You have to let go of that sword, Tavish. You can't let whatever commie trickery that thing is plaguing you with take over. For your sake, listen to me!"

The RED Demoman was slumped forward, arms dangling in front of him while holding on tightly to the Eyelander that dripped fresh blood from its blade. Tavish's remaining eye shone with a cursed green, the outcome of constantly feeding the sword the heads of not only the BLU team but RED as well. The usual rogueish charm that the Demolition Man possessed was gone. In its place, a blood-hungry beast that saw neither friend nor foe, but lambs fit for the slaughter. Despite being wholly empowered by the claymore, the body is still flesh and bone. Tavish, or whomever was possessing him, struggled to keep themselves aloft. They have lost too much blood, and Tavish's body protested any further exertion unless treated.

John, however, looked worse for wear. His uniform was ripped and in tatters, revealing the white tanktop below, which was also showing signs of damage. He lost FAR more blood than Tavish ever did, with multiple cuts that ran deep and oozed his essence all over his attire and on the dirt below. Breathing was haggard and painful for the BLU Soldier to do. Hell, existing was riding him up a wall as hours of fighting and dodging were catching up with him. The only reason he was still kicking was thanks to the few health kits and bottles that were littered about, the dispenser that his team Engineer set up for him (that was now destroyed at this point), and their resident nurse giving him a buff before the confrontation. But his resources were running thin. He practically ran this entire battlefield dry of its health kits and ammo, his rocket launcher and shotgun now only having a single shell and maybe two rockets for him to utilize.

"Heads," a ghostly snarl escapes not from the claymore but from Tavish's mouth, dripping like poison in John's weary ears. "Heads…Heads," the body continued to utter as it tried to inch closer to John. Tavish's body, exhausted from the fight, struggled to place one foot after the other, stumbling here and there as every nerve was demanding that this being stop and let it rest.

John can barely think. He tried talking to Tavish, but nothing was getting through to him. Every plea, insult, and statement was greeted with unbridled violence and horrific screams. Any strategy the war veteran could think of was leaking from his ears (or maybe that's just blood now that he's thinking about it). As Tavish's body lumbered closer, John scrambled mentally on what to do. Shooting Tavish will send him to respawn and will provoke the RED team to damn Tavish to whatever fate they opted to do. But he can't fight him either. Should whatever's controlling the Scotsman gain a second wind, John will be sent through the ringer instead, failing in his mission and pushing both teams to definitely kill Tavish.

Tavish was now within arm's length of the Soldier, scrapping the Eyelander beside him on the dirt ground and ready to swing the weapon at John's head. John isn't sure what compelled him to do this. Perhaps he was hinging on the possibility that their past friendship still lingered somewhere in Tavish's mind. Maybe it was a final distraction tactic he opted to pull out from under the possessed Demoman's feet. Regardless of what the reasons were, John pushed himself to get dangerously close to the deranged Demoman.

And he kissed him.

The kiss might as well be two kids on the playground pressing lips together, thinking this is "how adults kiss" or woeful virgins awkwardly "kissing" each other. The sensuality was lost between the two of them; their lips connected, but the desire that usually comes with it was in the other room.

Yet, John couldn't help but feel his heart flutter a bit. He tells himself that it's just the adrenaline and fatigue that caused his heart to skip a beat, kicking away the dawning fear that he might still harbor the same feelings that he felt all those years ago; before their fallout, before the Demoman betrayed his trust. But despite these affirmations he tried to hammer into his head, his lips still lingered far too long than they should have. But it must be doing something; Tavish has yet to raise his Eyelander at him.

John mentally had to rip himself away from the Demoman, quickly stepping back should the RED fiend decide to take a swipe at him. What he saw before him took him aback as the RED Demoman stared at the BLU Soldier with a wide eye. The color of Tavish's remaining eye no longer glowed a misty green, but it wasn't back to the usual brown that it was before. Instead, his eye was a startingly alluring emerald green.

"…Tavish?" John says carefully.

There's a brief moment of silence between the two, and John decides to take further initiative in this temporary standstill. "Tavish, you have to give me the sword. You're out of control, out of line, even for someone of your expertise."

The Demoman remained still, his face filled with foggy confusion as he seemingly was slowly coming to his senses. John took this moment of uncertainty to his advantage as he leisurely reached for the sword.

"If you don't let go of this communist contraption you found, they'll kill you. You hear me? They. Will. Kill. You, Maggot," despite the insult, it held none of the searing bite that it usually conveys. John silently thanks his helmet for shadowing his eyes as he used the concealment to prevent the RED Demoman from seeing him eyeing his sword.

"You may not be a red, white, and blue-blooded American, but I know you can fight whatever has plagued your English-muddled brain." John was so close to the sword that he could taste it. Just a millimeter longer, and he'll end this nightmare once and for all-

Tavish's eye suddenly flares in anger, shoving John away from him and placing extra distance from the BLU Soldier. "Then let them kill me. Maybe Heaven or Hell will have more use for me than this wasteland of a state!"

John stares at Tavish dumbfounded, his helmet slightly ajar to glimpse his blue eyes. "Tavish, you don't know what you're saying-"

"I know EXACTLY what I'm saying. Haven't had a drop of scrumpy since I've started this rampage."

So he was aware? All this time?

"What? You think I'm that ill-willed to just LET a dead son of a bitch take me over without an inch of a fight, eh? I fought the goddamn loche, read a cursed book, and lost me eye for it."

Not a single word was slurred or interrupted by an untimely burp. John was lost for words, unsure of how to respond.

"But, why? You're terrorizing both teams consorting with that weapon, letting it whisper Russian nonsense into your ears!"

"Firstly, this sword isn't from fucking Russia; let's put that through your tin-canned skull first. Secondly, I let it take over because I allowed it."

"But WHY?" Soldier couldn't restrain his growing impatience, his tone resorting back to his usual drill sergeant demeanor.

"Wouldn't you like to know."

"Don't back sass me, you one-eyed Scot son of a bitch. Your whiskey-drinking life is on the goddamn line."

"See, that right there," the Demoman points at the Soldier accusingly, "Maybe if you'd stop with those demeaning jokes, we wouldn't be in this mess!"

"Jokes? It's what you are, Tavish! You have one eye, and you drink! What else am I supposed to call-" John stops himself, his mind finally clicking back into gear and understanding where Tavish was coming from. "Ah, so drinking wasn't enough, was it? Gotta bully everyone else, all because of your own damn insecurities, is that it?"

"You shut your bucket-wearing trap," Tavish growled, his remaining eye threatening John with a ghostly mist.

"Maybe if you actually faced your own demons instead of trying to drown them out with whiskey and blood, you'd be half the man you wished you were."

"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Tavish's eye becomes fully enveloped in the same cursed green color as his fury rises to new heights. "YOU HAVE LITTLE ROOM TO TALK FOR SOMEONE WHO WAS PLACED IN A MENTAL HOSPITAL FOR DECIMATING THEIR WHORE OF A GIRLFRIEND!"

Though this should've struck a cord in John, it instead made his spine and skin run cold as a shiver coursed through him. Nevermind that Tavish screamed to the heavens a secret he wished was left buried in its grave, but John completely lost the plot of what he was supposed to be doing. If anything, he reignited and made worse the Demoman's conviction to fucking kill him.

"T-Tavish, wait," John tried to backpedal, kicking himself mentally for letting his emotions run his mouth. But it was too late. The familiar sounds of Tavish's ungodly screams came rushing at him, and he had little time to run. Hell, he even tripped on himself attempting to run away from the bull that was the RED Demoman.

Thank his stars and garters that the Eyelander clanged against steel instead of his flesh and bone.

John is unsure when the BLU Demoman appeared or where they came from, but he was slightly grateful that the demolitionist stood between him and the willfully possessed Tavish.

"We gave you ten minutes, you took an hour, and we waited, John," Harvey's soft voice pierced through John like a hot knife to butter.

John panics as the possibility of Tavish meeting a fate worse than death becomes a painful inevitability in his mind. He scrambles through his words, thoughts not connecting to his lips, "Harv, please, just give me more time-"

"I gave you all the time in the world, Soldier. But something has to be done," Harvey grunts, and his words felt cold to the touch, but he does not raise his voice. Keeping a steady tone that, to an untrained ear, he might as well be as serene as a monk.

The BLU Demoman ends the standstill between him and his RED counterpart, building distance by kicking Tavish away with amazing strength. A prowess even the BLU Soldier didn't know his BLU companion possessed.

The RED Demoman's back slams against the outer walls of one of the buildings. With that previous stalemate, Tavish's body felt a renewed vigor as it slumped forward, and from his mouth, a familiar, venomous hiss escaped his lips, "Heads."

"If there's anything good that came out of your distraction, most of BLU have convened with RED, and they're plotting what to do with this beast once it's down." Harvey tilts his head to look at John, "Either you join them, or you help me keep this monster down."

John, from under his helmet, lingers between the two Demomen, searching through his mind how he can still salvage this situation. Ultimately, he settles on helping Harvey in the moment, and hopes to contain Tavish should they weaken him again. The BLU Soldier gets back on his feet, shovel in hand and stands with his BLU companion.

"I know you both have history, but that can not hold you back from doing what must be done, Johnathan," the BLU Demoman softly says.

"I know," John answers.

Hey, you made it to the end of the story, congrats :D

My main inspiration for making this piece, aside from Waterwindow's art piece, was because I have yet to see anyone put Demoman in the "unwillingly or willingly becomes possessed by an entity that takes over their body completely and they're so deep in the possession sauce that they require the power of friendship to save them or have to be put down like a dog for the sake of the world" trope, and I decided to clumsily make this a reality.

I can just imagine, especially when he gains the Eyelander and his friendship with the BLU Soldier is broken, that Tavish goes through a spiral of emotions as he questions his self-worth and feels guilty for betraying his friend all for a cursed sword. And his guilt and self-hatred eats up at him and he becomes vulnerable to the influence of the Eyelander and lets the sword put him on auto pilot, allowing the spirit within to go on a mindless rampage against both RED and BLU team.

"A perfect pair" Snipers x Reader

YESSSS I get to write for the stinky aussies! I need to get better distinctions for all the classes and not just sniper but here's the gist: red is more goofy and blu is more hard-core/intense.

Lawrence (red)

- Let's be real, he let's you "scare" him and junk because he likes you. He's trained to know a hider. When you suddenly pop up behind him, he'll give a little shrug with his shoulders like you got him and says, "'ello, my little shadow. What am I doin' today?"

- He gives a little smile if you say something cheeky, "Nah, I don't think that was it." Before carrying on. He's so awkward but it's dreadfully endearing.

- He likes joking that you're compact. He reckons he could fit you in his pocket and sneak you places if you want!

- Will allow body as pillow usage sooner than one might think. He's not starved for physical affection or anything, but it's nice. Once he knows you're someone he can trust, he'll lean his weight on you jokingly to see if you fall over.

- Just know he doesn't have a lot of comfy fat for laying about! But he is an expert on good old-fashioned spooning. Not really, but he tries with those gangly limbs of his. You'll always feel secure with him, that's for certain.

- At some point or another, he's going to teach you self defense if you don't know any already- he says the two of you together are a one-two punch. They'll never see you coming.

Mick (blu)

- At very first he was annoyed before the dating happened because he doesn't like mucking about and having someone tail him. A little paranoid, you might say. Its how you survive, he says. Yet as he learns more about you and realizes it's because you feel comfortable with him, he let's up.

- once dating you'll get a quiet chuckle from him with your antics. Yet you can't seem to startle him, even when you try. He always knows where you are and, unlike Lawrence, makes sure you know it. But it's alright if you give the other lads a scare. He'd shoot them straight on if they had any complaints.

- It's a good thing, though. If you ever actually startled him, you'd end up with a bowie knife to the neck while he checks you out. Granted, he'd probably kiss you and congratulate you after, so pro's and con's.

- Will only allow you to use him as a pillow if he gets to pet your hair and crack wise about how you need him. He likes having the upper hand in a relationship dynamic. It's cute you want to lay on him. Like a little pet!

- If you ask him about fighting or self defense, he gets way too into it and has you using the ability to squeeze into tight spaces to your advantage. Sometimes, it's in the same space as him where every movement has you pressing closer together...

Similarities between TF2 and Splatoon (2)

by me (a sploon 2 player) and @d-9542 (a tf2 player) (they barely ever post tho and anyways this was my idea lol)

TLDR, splatoon and tf2 are very similar in many ways

team vs team (turf wars and regular tf2 battles idk what theyre called)

online gameplay woo basically the same thing? the goals are a bit different cause in splatoon youre trying to get the most turf inked but literally you just shoot at people. pew pew.

salmon run and mann vs machine

this is like literally the same thing. the goals are different but basically a team of players have to fight against several waves of salmonoids/robots. you get stuff by beating the waves (i think?????? i dont play tf2 and my brain is, again, too tired to comprehend what the wiki is trying to say) and stuff and you win ONLY if you get all of them.

control points and tower control/splat zones

i think symmetrical cp is closer to tower control than the other ones. like, all of the splatoon maps are symmetrical so....

anyways

both teams have to take over a certain amount of spots to win. in splatoon 2 this is done by riding the tower (which is more like a payload thing but i think rainmaker is more similar to that than tower control) while in tf2 this is done by standing at the capture point. it takes a while to capture each point for both games, tho in splatoon you dont have to recapture, since it isnt exactly like capture points? thats more of a splat zones thing.

speking of splat zones this one is similar to cp in the fact that you have to literaly capture zones. usually1, but there may be 2. capturning the zones is similar to how its done in tf2, except instead of just standing there you have to cover the area with your teams ink. the counter only goes down if your ink is majority and you have all the zones.

im too tired to do all the big brain thinking to explain this more so MOVING ON

payload and rainmaker (and also the peristalsis stage in octo expansion)

you move a thing to a goal. you win if you get that thing to the goal! thats the very basics but while payload is like a move the cart via a track thing rainmaker is literally just grabbing the rainmaker and getting it to (or as close as possible) to the podium on the opposing teams aide of the map and actually i take back my earlier statment payload is quite similar to tower control.

HOWEVER. in splatoon both teams are fighting to get the rainmaker to their respective podiums. in payload, only one team moves the cart, while the other team tries to stop them.

the peristalsis stage is basically the same thing but with 1 player only cos the octo expansion DLC is a single player campaign. that and you have to shoot at it to get it to move.

literally the exact same thing????? like im not even kidding. theres a certain area you have to capture, and once you have that area a timer starts to count down. but if the enemy captures it from you the timer for your team pauses and the enemys counter starts. this is kinda short cause theres not that much for me to point out lol

theyre both semi based off of irl sports? except in passtime theres only one ball i think, while in clam blitz you have to collect clams to make a bigger football clam to throw at the enemys basket to break it so you can throw clams into it before it repairs itself

Still uses this appearance sometimes. Does not creature shift when using.

Hoshi's mental breakdown catgirl era. Does not have a name. She is known in most of the Stormblood regions for being unnaturally strong, yet excessively violent and almost never speaking.

Hoshi did not exclusively use this appearance but used it a large amount of the time, especially during fights. The rest of the time, he used a mix of some other appearances.

If he uses this appearance currently, it's usually when he's in an especially bad and violent mood. He will introduce/identify himself as Hoshi if asked.

Aura/Rora

Au ra(F) Red Mage, Black Mage, Summoner Four Lords - Mid-Shadowbringers

Mental stress means Hoshi changes appearance again. And, yes, he literally just called himself Aura. Though, he did tell others that the name was a lie.

Somewhat more talkative but was notably very cynical and sassy at the time. Known for being an exceptionally powerful mage, but a little too enthusiastic about the void and other forbidden things.

Hoshi uses this appearance still and does creature shift occasionally using it.

Will introduce himself as Hoshi when re-meeting or meeting new people.

Hoshi

Viera(M) Fatale (BLU+RPR), BLM Mid-Shadowbringers (pre-light poisoning)

Bunny boy. Basically the same as his current appearance minus pink streaks and white freckles which are a result of his light poisoning.

Known mostly in locations on the First for his usual things: being loud, annoying, illegal and gay. And saving everyone, probably.

He took this appearance because he felt comfortable in it and kept it because Emet-Selch seemed very displeased by it. He uses creature shifting as his main fighting ability.

Hoshi

Vi'qote(Viera+Miqo'te)(M) Fatale (BLU+RPR) Mid-Shadowbringers (post-light poisoning) to current

Not pictured: big fluffy miqo'te tail. It's literally just there to be cute and fluffy.

As above but with hair streaks and light freckles. The streaks in his hair/ears are actually white but he dyes them because pink is cute. It's apparently not something he can make go away with his shifting because it still appears when he shifts, whether into other people or animals.

Lilira Lira

Lalafel(F) Scholar, Sage Various

No reason for this appearance other than sometimes Hoshi wants to be small and bite people's ankles and kick their shins.

Loud and grumpy and swears a lot. Very "I'm a healer, but-" and definitely does carry a gun for real. Does not creature shift with this appearance.

Again, will re-introduce himself properly to people now.

Appearance Hoshi took for a job, posing as a gleaner in Sharlayan. It was here that he technically first met Erenville as they worked together before she inevitably disappeared.

Hoshi didn't bother changing his personality and thus they acted exactly the same which is why it was so easy for Erenville to ascertain Hoshi's identity when they met again. Hella called out.

Hoshi does not use this appearance anymore.

With their tactics outmatched and the Administrators silence on the matter, the Mercs of the RED team grow exceedingly desperate. As their pay gets cut with each loss, and each fight getting more humiliating than the last they look to request the help of a third party. Through blind desperation this help comes from something most unforeseen. From something teetering on the very edge of mortal comprehension. Particularly from some poor bastard in the wrong place at the wrong time. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LOL YEP I'M STILL GOING WITH THIS. COMIC IS GETTING ONE MORE REVAMP. The final one god willing. More on the update under the cut!

So to provide a little context for those who've been waiting for this. I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry. Real life stuff really came around and beat my ass. Currently, my situation is slowly getting worse but I refuse to stop now. The comic had to be put on hold because of how outdated it ended up getting. I did go back to revamp the pages before but I kept finding errors and inconsistencies that just didn't make sense. I feel this comic deserves the effort and I feel you guys deserve a good well-written story. Not only that, but Elly got her final redesign and it's a pretty heavy change. Throughout making this comic her back story changed three times. YES, THREE TIMES, because I kept finding shit that just did not make any fukin sense, some parts were terribly cliché and unoriginal that I ended up growing to hate and one was accidentally too similar to the plot of a game that, at the time, I was unfamiliar with(Maybe it was different enough to get away with I don't know I didn't want to take chances). I unfortunately am a bit of a perfectionist and have very high standards for my work; as shown by how many times models were changed between pages. This is partially due to the fact that she never had proper HWM sliders and setting models up for SFM is HELL. She kept breaking so she needed to be fixed up and given a simpler design to made her easier to operate. As of right now however, her appearance and narrative is set for good, she has HWM now, clean topology, cleaner textures and less bones. Not only that, but I had to make an entire map for this. That meant learning the ins and outs of the Hammer Editor, and gathering up a shit load of props. The Hammer editor (while very powerful) is a right pain in the ass to use, especially if you want a clean functional map.

This took quite longer than it needed to be. This is THE LAST TIME I am going back and redoing these pages, and this time I'm going to stick with it if it freaking kills me. I don't care if it's cringe. This comic means a lot to me as do the characters and those who've read it. Plus it's FUN and I'm allowed to have FUN Janet I wouldn't have been able to make this story if not for the help of @the-talon-ted-meem She well practically co-wrote it. Go give her love and spam her inbox with horrifying emojis or some shit Lastly, this comic is, in a way, made to commemorate Colin "Elliott" Wyckoff a.k.a Kitty0706. There's a lot I can say that's been said a thousand times already but he wanted us to laugh in his stead not be sad. In his honor, I'll help what he influenced live on for as long as I can. How does Designer feel about the other mercs? Any that they're friends with, neutral towards, or dislike?

I’ll talk about the RED Designer here so if anyone’s interested in one for the BLU Designer lmk!!

Scout: They’re alright! Designer and Scout don’t exactly click as best friends, but when together, they’re friendly enough to chat for a bit and sometimes pull pranks together. Designer honestly finds him a bit obnoxious at times, especially when he visits them in their workshop (they would Really prefer to have that time for themselves and have told Scout that multiple times), but he’s also a fun guy so they don’t mind it too much. 

Soldier: Designer hates it when people are loud, so they don’t really know what to think of Soldier? On one hand, they would appreciate it if it didn’t sound like he was berating them for everything, on the other, he’s actually not that bad of a guy; his weird antics are always a good source for laughs (as long as it doesn’t involve creating a giant bread monster that destroys the base), and they absolutely adore his feral raccoons! He can be a bit overwhelming at times but they like to think that it’s his way of showing that he cares. 

Pyro: Buddies!! Designer isn’t very big on verbal communication and is generally awkward, so they hung out around Pyro the most when first arriving at Mann Co. Some of Pyro’s habits are (understandably) a bit off putting to Designer, but over time, they got more comfortable with each other! A lot of their time together is spent drawing or making stuff like plushies; sometimes, Pyro will show them cool fire tricks!

Demoman: Best friends! He’s got a friendly vibe to him that Designer really likes, and he can talk so much about anything (mythology, explosives, haunted swords, etc.) that it fills up their conversations nicely and that Designer doesn’t feel too pressured to talk! He helped them fit in with the work environment better when they first arrived at the base and was one of the first mercs Designer actually started talking to, so they’re pretty close!! 

Heavy: Sorta friends(?) He’s still a bit intimidating even after years of working together, but they both like talking about their guns! They’re pretty neutral overall, but every now and then, they have a nice conversation and occasionally compliment each other (with Designer soaking up the praise and visibly being happy for the rest of the day. They like receiving compliments hehe)

Engie: They’re pretty good friends! Designer and Engineer like building things, so it was pretty easy for them to connect with each other. While Designer doesn’t understand a lot of the technical talk Engie uses (they didn’t have formal training in anything engineering-related), they like listening to Dell talk about what he’s making and any tips he can give to upgrading their weapons!

Medic: CRIME FRIENDS! Designer LOVES listening to his ramblings and actually finds his experiments somewhat interesting. They both have that curious attitude of wanting to know about the weirdest things and asking “what if I did ___?” when working; they’ve also gone on small “adventures” together that involve gathering black market organs and other questionable materials for his work. Overall, Medic is a funky dude and Designer loves that. 

Sniper: They’re chill with each other! Designer tends to stick to themselves most of the time and the same goes for Sniper, so it took quite a while for the both of them to actually start chatting. They only really know each other through the battlefield, since Designer’s tracking abilities allow for to see through walls, but sometimes they’ll do some target practice together (which usually ends up in Sniper having to mentor Designer because their aim is Way worse compared to his). Both have a mutual respect for each other, with Designer looking up to Sniper a bit because of his skill. 

Spy: KNIFE BUDDIES!! Initially they didn’t talk much; Designer was intimidated by Spy because of their awkwardness, and Spy was a bit uneasy about how Designer was often around Pyro and also annoyed that they could sense where he was based off of sound. These two actually started to get closer when Spy confronted them about how often they got into fights with his counterpart lol (he found it amusing). After that, they started to talk more about random stuff and even actively look out for each other on the battlefield. They also have a lot in common, like appreciating art and music (and carrying a knife or two >:3c). Designer and Spy’s relationship is a bit weird since Designer is the least romantic person there is and also may be dumb, but they’re genuinely comfortable being around each other and that’s pretty impressive given their personalities.

RWBY Volume 6 Crew Commentary Notes!

I just got the Volume 6 Blu Ray and I'm going to be watching the crew's commentary! Kerry was talking with a few others as well as Miles after chapter 1. I wrote what I found interesting or important:

Chapter 1:

They took out the blood at the White Fang Headquarters but had to add it back in later

The train station was the first new set of the season

They used Houdini for crowd shots this season

Showing what's in the bag RWBY got for Yang is planned for next season

On each boba cup lid (from the food in the background of the train station scene) has the RWBY chibi characters

Originally they planned Ilia to wear a kimono. Also a hint to seeing her again!

Kerry's mom wants him (Neptune) to be in the show more

The whole train set is a circle track

The Grimm manticore design was from an artist from the RWBY subreddit! Kerry saw it and he loved it and he contacted her to hire her.

There was an inside joke for the audio team where Dee dies it sounds like the track says "Oh Dee..."

Dee and Dudley barely graduated from their academy

There was originally going to be a closer shot of Salem in the OP but they wanted to keep the mystery about who she was

Chapter 2:

They put in some lines from the house (what Nora says) that were a response to the criticism from Volume 5 about them staying there too long

Nora was originally going to tell Blake everything she needed to know with some whiteboards on the train, but they decided to just show the house where things are explained

The footsteps in the snow were made using nulls in After Effects. They explain the process which is pretty interesting.

Oscar struggling was done in mocap

Lil Miss Malachite is an allusion for Little Miss Muffett (duh) and turns out she is the mother of the Malachite Twins

The Malachite Twins went to live in Vale and be bad guys

Jinn's hair is separated/split more than a normal character's. Same with Summer Rose

Chapter 3:

Salem's story one of the first things ever written for RWBY

They really wanted a character's story to revolve around 'happily ever after' then a few steps after that, so Salem was the perfect character for that

Originally the Lost Fable was chapter 3 and 4, but they combined them into one

The whole episode was mocapped in a single weekend

The crew has a Ruby body pillow prototype that's used during mocap

The Gods are inspired from the Gods of Greek Mythology

They want to show more natural wildlife in RWBY, but due to budget constraints it's hard

The video game Brutal Legend inspired the scene where Salem throws herself into the pool of Grimm

Originally the Gods were closer to human size but were scaled up

The story structure for the episode took inspiration from Harry Potter and Game of Thrones

Originally there was going to be more dialogue from the main cast, but they decided against it

They were originally had Salem look like her current form (well coloring wise), but decided to remove the red veins she has so she looked less spooky

The toy dog one of the children has is a Wizard of Oz reference

Jinn was meant to be an objective outside observer but also a storyteller

The children for one of Oz's reincarnations have silver eyes (confirmed)

Chapter 4:

They were excited to explore Qrow's alcoholism past it just being a joke

Hazel is the most compassionate of the villains

Salem knows how to manipulate people and has different methods for motivations for each of her lieutenants

For example she doesn't have to say that many mean things for Tyrian to take it to heart because he is so loyal

She also knows just how fearful Emerald is of her

Chapter 5:

Neo has begun to evolve her semblance, as shown in the fight

Neo wasn't originally planned to be in this Volume, but was decided when they thought of what they could do better to make Cinder's storyline better and for when Cinder gets to Atlas they thought her having a partner was cool

Brunswick Farm was another idea they had since the very beginning

The Apathy fit so well in this volume because the characters are at a low point

Blake doesn't always get the nuances of relationships and makes a misstep (when Yang and Blake talked and she told Yang she would protect her)

Chapter 6:

The Apathy came from an image of a horrifying scarecrow and they came up with the idea of a grimm that wasn't physically formidable. As well as a planet from the movie Serenity where everyone fell to sleep and died, and a short story about depression and not wanting to do anything

The Apathy work through proximity but if they see you their effect gets even worse. But you can get it jolted out of the apathy for a little while if you are startled

The artist that made the Apathy was the same one that made the Manticore

Maria is colorblind, which was evident in the episode when we learn she couldn't tell Ruby's eye color immediately

Seeing the burning Apathy, Qrow realizes that he almost let everyone get killed and now starts to hate himself (his depression changes)

Chapter 7:

Them having a restriction for how long fights could be (because fights are expensive) led to Miles thinking of a fight that had to last 60 seconds (and Tock)

Maria's weapon and use of dust was inspired from the God of War reboot as well as Marvel's Thor

Maria was originally from Volume 5 but they had to take her out because it was hard to balance out all the storylines

Originally Maria was going to have a cat, and Qrow was supposed to find her in his search for Hunstman

The Arc siblings are all a color of the rainbow, with one set of twins. Saphron is orange.

The toy Adrien is playing with is foreshadowing to the plane and the Leviathan

Chapter 8:

Only Cordovin's guards are so goofy (compared to the rest of Atlas guards), and Cordo is considered a nuisance. This was a job they thought she could do well without bothering anyone

Kerry wanted an old lady fight in the show, so he got one

The Old Lady in the Show was something Monty thought of. The boot is the foot of a giant mech. And the giant mech was originally going to be at the end of V2

Butterflies are normally not out in the winter but this is Remnant ;)

Chapter 9:

Miles likes to think of Tyrian as one of the most insightful villains. He is really good at observing people and knows how to take them apart mentally and physically

This is where they said this is the first time we see Mercury and Emerald being vulnerable to each other (I didn’t include this earlier, sorry!)

They say they’ll never confirm who the Red Haired Woman is, but they said use your brains lol

Looking up at Pyrrha and seeing the airship fly by made Jaune think of the idea to steal one

Chapter 10:

Adrian's crying is not a semblance, that's just comedy

They pitched Jaune's voice down when he says "Roger" so he can sound more serious

Originally there was going to be another episode (episode 14t) where we would see Atlas and Mantle. But they didn't want to end on that because it would require a ton of new assets because of the buildings and the people wearing different clothes

The next season will start with a bang

The Iron Giant was a reference for the mech

Chapter 11:

The mech fight was the most effects-heavy of the fights this season

Blake has always had the scar on her body since the new outfit, but it has been hard to see until her jacket comes off

Yang hitting Adam with her bike was thought of early on in the scripting process

Chapter 12:

A lot of talk about how the animations were made and such

This season had a core fight team that animated all the fights

The way Adam dies is apparently similar to how something in Nier: Automata plays out. Kerry has only played an hour of the game so he did not know that was a thing

But Nier: Automata was actually referenced for the mech fight (the mechanics of how the fight would work) since a robot was involved in the first boss fight.

Shots from the Adam and Yang fight were similar to those from Naurto, but that was also a coincidence

They called the Leviathan Levi in the script because it was easier to type

Chapter 13:

They considered Adrian being a very young baby, but later changed him to be a toddler

Gurren Laggan was another reference used for this part (haven't seen that anime but it was referenced when the mech drills the Leviathan)

They really wanted to make sure we could hear liquid in Qrow's flask

Salem is no longer willing to confine herself to a room, and is going to start being more active by creating her army of minions

I've seen a lot of tf2 stuff here and I'm wondering if I should get into it? I know OF the game, but that's pretty much it. What's it about? Where do I start?

buddy Y E S. it’s like this weird unlikely ~timeless masterpiece~ that has sooo many different facets to it. it’s silly and ridiculous and saturated with lots of interesting lore and characters, as well as fun and INCREDIBLY versatile gameplay- it can be played like a serious shooter with a serious objective, or it can become a block party where everything’s silly taunts and hats and the points don’t matter and oh boy just wait until you see the halloween events. tf2′s given me some of the best friends i’ve ever had, has gotten me through some of my darkest times, and has just generally brought me so much joy (directly and indirectly) throughout the years, that it will probably be one of my favorite video games for the rest of my life. so YES i highly recommend you give it a shot lol.

AND OK, SO…I ENDED UP WRITING A LOT. LIKE BASICALLY A BRIEF CRASH COURSE ON TF2. but c’mon man you’re asking me about one of my favorite games..i can’t help myself lol. i mean…objectively it’s very short for covering 10+ years of content, riiiight

but foreal it’ll just take a few minutes to read and it will give you some useful insight into tf2, what it is, and everything else you need to start your ✧・ﾟ:* magical   *:・ﾟ✧ hat-based journey (btw almost all italics are links jsyk, i know my blog is dumb and doesn’t make that obvious)

TL;DR:gaem is about shoot and silly hat with 9 boyes. is v fun 2 play, start with am watch meet the team videoz on tf yootoob.

And now for a more detailed explanation:

i’ll start by telling you how it began:  “team fortress” was the first team fortress series game ever made. this game was a quake mod, made in the mid-90s, not developed by valve, and based in another engine. it got reeeally popular, so, eventually, valve saw it, liked it, and put a ring on it, hiring the team to make a team fortress half-life mod, and later, a standalone version, known as “team fortress classic” (essentially, in regards to modern lore, tf1). valve eventually started developing a standalone sequel to tfc, “team fortress 2: brotherhood of arms.” this game was, stylistically, VERY different from the tf2 we know today- it was a super-realistic military game (kinda like counter strike?). but for some reason (thank you god) they ended up doing a 180 and went for something more cartoony  (if they’d gone with that original design, tf2 probably would’ve outdated and died off years ago). this more cartoony style is what you see today.

so now we’ve covered tf2′s history, let’s talk about what it is:  team fortress 2 is an online team-based multiplayer first-person shooter game that features a variety of gamemodes. here’s the basic in-game menu layout when you fire it up:

these different gamemodes include a casual mode, a competitive mode, and a player vs bot mode (which is super fuuuunn). here’s what the menu looks like when you click the “find a game” tab:

i’m mostly familiar with casual mode (formally known as “pubs” for “public servers”), which is the main part of the game anyway, so i’ll list what type of objectives you have to choose from in casual mode: (CORE GAME MODES) attack/defense, capture the flag, control points, king of the hill, and payload; (VALVE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING ALTERNATIVE GAME MODES)  payload race, mannpower, pass time, and miscellaneous game modes.

but tf2 doesn’t only appear in game form! i remember i was hella confused about what exactly tf2 was for the longest time because of this, so next, let’s break down what it manifests as:  a video game, a comic series, and animated shorts (both official and fan-made). source filmmaker (sfm) is the animation program valve developed and uses to animate their shorts. a few years ago, this program was made free to the public, so there have been maaaaany many fan animations and posters made over the years about tf2 using the program. so many, in fact, that valve decided to start holding an annual tf2 film festival, called “the saxxy awards” (”saxxy” coming from “saxton hale,” a dude we’ll touch on ina bit). the festival is an opportunity for animators to showcase their skills, and SO many seriously amazing projects have come out of them. i recommend checking out winglet, uberchain, mag magnet, krunkidile (specifically his “TSA” series), py-bun, and nonamesleft, they are all very skilled animators who are also quite active in the community! there are so many more amazing sfm animators, but my brain is just about fried (it’s almost 4am), so i can’t think of them right now, but keep an ear open for whenever this year’s saxxies roll around and you’ll discover more no problem!

let’s move onto what it’s about:  the story takes place in the 1970s, and centers around 9 mercenaries who have been hired to fight in a “war.” the “war” was started by 2 bitch ass rich ass brothers who got their wealthy father to buy an enormous expanse of land in new mexico and move their family there. the brothers hated each other with a petty fury, and their father hated them both because the land they convinced him to buy….was absolutely worthless! so when he died, he gave their family munitions company “mann co.” to his closest aide (barnabus hale), and left them both nothing but that enormous plot of worthless gravel-filled land (hence the name “the gravel wars”) to fight over. and they’ve been fighting over it ever since. the bros got played, but they are so single-minded in their sibling rivalry that they don’t care.

it’s on this land where most of the in-game maps are located. the brothers’ names are redmond mann and blutarch mann (hence the team names red and blu). in-game, you play on either red or blu. on both sides, you can play as any of the 9 mercenaries, scout/soldier/pyro (offense), heavy/demoman/engineer (defense), or sniper/medic/spy (support). it’s never really touched upon in lore how both brothers managed to hire the same mercenaries to fight, and it probably never will be, since it is just an in-game mechanic. but it does still beg the question. in the shorts, it’s shown that they literally fight clones of themselves (like in the game). in the comics, certain mercenaries are shown on blu team, while others are on red. there are a lot of fan theories, but generally it’s just said that “they fight each other” (interpret as you will). the world may never know.

each of the mercs are referred to by their job title (i.e. heavy weapons guy, sniper, medic, etc.), but they have their own real names oc (except maybe pyro). however, we don’t know all their names yet. they each have really unique personalities and skills that have built them to be these memorable characters. which leads me to where you should start:

i would say go to the team fortress youtube channel and just start working your way through the videos. Start with the “meet the ____” videos, cause those will give you a sense of who the 9 mercenaries are personality-wise (and sort of lore- and gameplay-wise, too). on that channel, you’ll also find some shorts that don’t have to do with any particular mercenary. these shorts were made to coincide with the various in-game updates that have happened throughout the years (the most recent short being “jungle inferno,” released just a few months ago).

once you’ve gone through all of that, and if you find you wanna dive deeper into the lore of tf2, you could start reading the tf2 comics. i highly recommend them, they’re all written very well, have a great sense of humor, and have a surprisingly extensive and intriguing storyline. you can find them all here. the comics are broken up into sections:  tf comics, update comics, and the saxton series. the saxton series are some silly vintage comic book covers that feat. ya boi saxton hale (current owner of mann co. and grandson of barnabus hale. also i didn’t mention this before but mann co. supplies the gravel war effort. jsyk). the saxton series isn’t really lore relevant. but the update and tf comics are. i highly recommend starting from the bottom of the page and working your way up. pay attention to the date the comic was uploaded (beneath the comic icon and title), and just read them in chronological order from oldest to newest. that way you won’t get confused or not know who’s who, what’s happening, etc. it’ll basically be like you were along for the updates without having to put up with the wait! speaking of which…

currently we’re all on the edge of our seats waiting for the next and final tf2 comic. been waiting for over a year and counting…

the last comic came two years after it’s predecessor, so….let’s just say you’ve got time. and plenty of it.

I’ve been all over the place lately with work and family and stuff, but one of the pretty cool developments of all that is that as of this weekend, I am officially a Ghostbuster.

A while back, I worked on a really low-budget take on a proton pack for a convention and when I ran into our local chapter of the official GB costume club, they invited me to join. This weekend, I worked my first event at San Japan, an anime convention in San Antonio. We had a booth with a bunch of replica props and gear the team owns (a life-size Slimer to take pictures with, a Vigo poster, various packs and PKE meters). We had a raffle where you could win a bag with a shirt, a phone case, a Blu-Ray of the new movie, a printed script of the original, and Twinkies with green creme and some Hi-C Ecto Cooler. (Apparently they brought it back before the release of the new movie and they bought up a bunch.) We sold buttons and stuff to raise money for Meals on Wheels and just generally had a lot of fun taking pictures with other fans. A lot of parents who were there for their kids were so excited to see us because we were the only thing they actually recognized at the con.

Some stand out moments:

Some of the senior group members talked about getting to go to the LA premiere of the 2016 movie. Sony wanted an audience full of fans, so they told chapters of the club “If you can get here, we’ve got tickets for you.” A bunch of Texas fans found flights out and went together. They met tons of other fans and got to stand on the red carpet as the actresses were arriving. Their group was toward the end by the theatre door. They said Kristen was first so she got through with enough time that she was making an effort to sign something for everyone lining the carpet. But after that they were kind of being rushed through because interviews had taken longer than planned and they had to get started, so Leslie was in a hurry, but tried to sign things and when our chapter’s leader had a fanboy moment and just yelled, “Leslie, sign my shirt!” she actually backtracked to sign the shirt he was wearing. They said Kate and Melissa had to rush by and just waved because they had been waylaid longest, so they didn’t get to meet them, but it wasn’t the girls’ fault. And then they got to watch the movie at Mann’s Chinese Theatre with an audience of all fans, Paul Feig gave a little welcome at the beginning (they said he seemed so sweet and nervous about whether they would like it or not), and they went crazy loving the screening. If they ever do a sequel, I really hope they do that again. Lol

In the club it’s accepted not everyone is going to like every movie/show, but the members who weren’t crazy about the new movie (at least in our chapter) make an effort not to rain on the mood of those who do (and never let it show to fans coming up to the booth). The chapter leader only has two things he said he would change about it: 1. He would have it fit into the old universe somehow just so people would stop getting territorial about the two and it would end some of the griping they have to hear about. 2. He would re-edit Abby and Erin’s deleted scenes back in, because he felt their friendship was under-served by cutting all their “breakup” scenes. (Which, honestly, I agree with and I love that he was emotionally invested in them too.)

We had a couple of teenage/college-age fans come up (one trans, one nonbinary I learned as we chatted) and the girl who was trans was so excited about the new film. The nonbinary fan admitted sheepishly they hadn’t seen more than clips of the movie. The other turned to them, face serious, and said, “I have the movie on my phone. We’re watching it tonight.”

Got lots of love from fans. People wanted pictures with Slimer, yes, but lots of young women and little girls who had fallen in love with the new movie and wanted to get pictures. One really cool girl showed us pictures of her Holtzmann Halloween costume. She might be the first black Holtzmann I’ve seen (forgive me if I’ve just missed people’s pics) and she looked so awesome. I want her to come back in the costume at another con and get a pic with her.

Amazing group of friends did the Belcher family from Bob’s Burgers. The Linda was Spot. On. OMG that dude was perfect. Kept hearing that voice across the convention hall yelling, “Oh! Family photo! C’mere! Family photo!” and “Ah, my babies!” Hearing Linda’s voice say “Bustin’ makes me feel good” is a highlight of the con for me.

While overwhelmingly it was great, we did get one asshole who walked up to the booth (staffed at that point by me, one other woman, and one guy), turned directly to the male group member and started going into how he only liked the originals and hated the new one, how it was “girls trying to do what men do” and it was horrible and only got any attention because it was feminism and generally was being really misogynistic and insulting to the actresses. The other woman (who’s a veteran of these cons), just gestured me to kind of step away and not get involved because you don’t want to start a fight or anything where security has to step in, and let the guy at the booth steer the “fan” away. They said it’s not that common, but you do occasionally get people who want to start something or are a bit unstable themselves, and it’s better just to let it roll off. Though she did throw a middle finger and some nasty faces at him as he was leaving. :)

As if the world wanted to prove most fans aren’t like that, I had a Beautiful Con Moment afterward. In the vendor’s room later, I chatted with a couple of artists who were selling a cute drawing of the four girls (I’ll scan it and advertise their work later). They had a sign saying “Bring us Whataburger and you can have a free print” since they couldn’t leave their table. After debating my budget for a bit, I decided to go back and buy the drawing. A guy had apparently brought them their food by then and when I told them I’d decided to go ahead with it, the guy said, “Give it to her. I can’t pick, so that can be my free print.” And we all melted at the act of kindness and he said he had daughters and had mostly wanted to make sure the girls (well, possibly nonbinary individuals) at the booth had food more than score free art, and it was a sweet moment all around. (I then bought something else from their booth too because I wanted them to still make some money and support their art.)

The artist told me their girlfriend had actually drawn the piece and was going to do more art of the new team in the future. Later, they came running over and told me they texted the girlfriend and she was so psyched it went to a Ghostbuster.

Anyway, first official bust was a success! Looking forward to doing more in the future!

Man it has been a long day, and of course Roy had to make it even longer by locking himself away in his workshop tinkering on his sentry turret after the battle ended for the day. Blu had won, sure, but it wasn’t easy either. The Reds put up one hell of a fight. Roy stretched his arms over his head and looked over at the clock on the wall, 11:47. Hmm, he should probably get some sleep- they have another match in the morning.

He finally steps foot in the base once more and was making his way to the defensive hall, but he had to cut through the offensive hall where he noticed one of them still had their lights on- the Scouts. Why was Rory up so late? He does a lot of running, surely he must be dog tired. The Engineer pressed his ear up against the door to listen, he didn’t hear anything, so he assumed the Scout fell asleep with the light on. He quietly opened the door to try and shut the light off until he noticed the Scout was wide away and had a bunch of papers in his hands, they looked like letters. Roy also noticed the Scout wasn’t his usually cheerful self.

“Rory? Whater ya doin’ up so late? What’s wrong?” he asked as he stepped into the younger man’s room and shut the door, as to not wake the others in the base. “I’m just... really homesick Roy, like. Miss my family.” the Scout spoke.

Hhmmm. Roy made his way next to Rory and sat down beside him on his bed. He gave one of Rory’s shoulders a comforting squeeze. “Ah know Rory, ah’m sure we’re all a little homesick too. It ain’t easy bein’ away from home fer so long.” he said to try and ease the Scout’s mind. He wasn’t budging. “Hmm, ya know, ah heard from the boss that we got a break comin’ up soon- ‘bout a week er so. More than enough time fer ya ta go back home to yer family over in Ireland.” that peeked the Scout’s interest. “Really? Will you go with me, like? I don’t wanna go alone. You can meet my family! They’ll love you, like!” Rory suggested. Roy shrugged. “As long as ya don’t mind Dell taggin’ ‘long too, sure.”

Rory smiled at him and gave him a quick tight hug. “Man, we’re gonna have so much fun! My brothers and sister will love you, like!” Roy chuckled as he stood. “Hows ‘bout ya slow down a bit, we still gotta work before we get that break. Can’t work if yer half asleep.
