Today I came across a flock of common redpolls. They only come here in the winter time. About thirty of them were acrobatically clambering through the branches of an alder tree. It was really difficult to get some good photos, because they were so fast and the light wasn't really good.

Today I had the pleasure of watching a large flock of siskins and redpolls in the trees. Some moved so far down that they could be photographed. A few even ventured down to the ground.

More than twenty Common redpolls (Acanthis flammea) were killed by Great tits (Parus major) in Kouvola, Finland. The incident was named The Tuohikotti massacre. Photos by Lassi Kujala.
