WELCOME TO THE FIRST INSTALLMENT OF MADKYRA SCREAMS INTO THE VOID
(Might make this a more regular thing)
Hunter and Regin tease each other by calling each other the names Darius has for them (So Hunter calls Regin 'Precious', while Regin calls Hunter 'Little Prince').

Not canonical to the show nor my OCs story, but it was an interesting idea that I wanted to write out especially as I fully flesh out what happened to Regin's mom
TRIGGER WARNING: For a parent death
"So what exactly are we looking for here?" Regin asked, brow arched at Hunter. He nervously scratched under his sleeve as he looked around, it felt so weird, and so wrong to be in his father's mind.
"I just want to see what your dad knows about Emperor Belos o-or the Day of Unity... anything.." Hunter explained, on edge, looking around at Darius's memories.
Regin hummed, nodding slightly, it wasn't going to hurt to look, he supposed, there had been so much buzz, everything seemed so weird. Regin would be lying if he said he didn't want answers too. But surely there was another way to find them. He recalled Hunter saying he'd already been in the Emperor's mind, but there were at least eight others they could look into. Then again, his connections did make his father easier to get ahold of comparatively. They'd already seen about three none of which proved useful.
"Hey, this one looks interesting," Hunter stated, the one he pointed to displayed a house on fire and Regin had to narrow his eyes. Something about it seemed familiar but surely not. He'd remember a fire.
"Well let's get it over with," Regin shrugged, and the two stepped in. As soon as they did, a scent even more familiar filtered into Regin's nose. Cinnamon, he knew it was a smell that drove Darius crazy, but only one person ever got by with wearing it near him. Regin now had a sinking feeling, moving a step back, his breath hitched as two familiar voices now came into scene.
"The Emperor is not someone you say no to, Labryn! Trust me, I don't want this consume my life anymore than you do...!" Darius scolded coming into the two teens view.
"Then step down! Everyone knows others have before!! Why does it have to be you!?" a female with lavender shoulder length hair and the same piercing black eyes as Regin had, another feature he shared were the black little freckles, only hers were vibrant against red cheeks.
"....Whoa.." Hunter murmured, "Reggie, is that..."
"...My mama," Regin confirmed finishing Hunter's thought, unable to take his gaze off her, a face he'd only seen in pictures, but she was just as Darius described her in the stories he told about her. The sickening feeling in his stomach only grew, making Regin stumble back a few steps.
"He just does! Do you realize what he could do to our family if I disobey him??"
"Surely he couldn't be so cruel! Regin is almost two and he hardly recognizes your face! This job expects too much! Darius, please. Y-you could step down and all three of us could just run away..!"
Darius pinched the bridge of his nose, "Please don't make it sound so romantic, Labby. We both know what this marriage is. Purely transactional, a mutual agreement to keep both our families off our backs. We agreed to that."
"So then you don't care about what happens with Regin?" Labryn demanded.
"Don't you dare even imply that. You know I'd do anything for our boy! That's why I stay! Because he'll be safe under Emperor Belos's pay-" Darius was cut off with something hitting and rumbling all throughout the house, "...what was that?"
Without getting an answer, there was a second and suddenly burning fire filled everyone's noses. The reason this was so familiar finally struck Regin.
"H-Hunter... Hunt. We need to get out. Now."
"Wh-what? But we haven't gotten an answer yet! Let's go outside and see who's attacking the house, maybe we can get some answers..!"
Regin opened and closed his mouth, wanting to deny, knowing where this memory was going, but he nodded regardless figuring answers might come in, and as long as they found some before the final event, what could it hurt? Not that this thought process helped the feeling in his gut, "Ok... but something tells me we won't like what we find, Hunt..."
In the background they could gear the chaos, especially as more rumblings shook the home, and desperate yells for one of them to gather Regin. The teenagers ignored this the best that they could, sneaking out the side window. As they landed on the ground, both boys looked around, balls of fire were quickly eating away at the home, smoke filtering into the air. Neither spotting anything having the further disadvantage of it being night out but as more people advanced on the house, the more they recognized the masked figures, soldiers for the Emperor's Coven, all the more terrifying, some did have and were making balls of fire to launch at the house.
"Th-the Emperor's Coven killed my mom.... Emperor Belos ordered them to kill my mom... at the very least..." Regin mumbled in realization, tears swelling up in his eyes. As more of the home turned to ash, the roof caved in collapsing right as Darius managed to get out, a wrapped squirming and wailing bundle in his arms. Realizing the memory was coming to an end, and having enough suitable proof, Hunter tugged at Regin's arm.
"Reggie, Reg.... cmon," he murmured, "come on, let's go..!"
"W-wait..!" Regin pointed to a silhouetted figure finally gaining light, it seemed from the embers but, had they looked over, it would've been because Darius noticed the same figure. Emperor Belos himself.
Hunter swallowed but further coaxed and pulled Regin until they were out of the memory. As soon as the air no longer reeked of smoke, Regin fell. First at his knees, then further in an almost fetal position, silent tears spilling from his eyes. A hand barely covering his mouth, as though there were any cries to silence. Hunter frowned, guilt and a gross feeling coursing all through him. He knelt down by Regin's rather pathetic form.
"Reg... I'm so sorry..." he mumbled running a gloved hand through his hair, "I-I didn't think...-"
"I-I will never serve under Belos," Regin uttered, "th-those dreams are out the window Hunt... I-I can't... I can't!! H-he.... he..." the silence was finally fully swallowed by a sob racking Regin's form, quivering from the top of his head to the ends of his toes.
Hunter's gaze softened at his best friend's reaction, one he surely couldn't have seen since they were both toddlers, though even then it didn't sound near as broken as Regin did right now. He swallowed, "Hey, cmon. We found some proof," Hunter murmured, the realization that Belos was as bad as he seemed not only from his memories but now someone else's, "Let's get outta here," he held his hand out.
Regin swallowed back a cry, instead releasing it in a shallow breath, but he nodded in agreement all the same, taking Hunter's hand. Hunter helped pull him up and guide him out.

Beginning idea for this OC (be prepared for some one shots of him here soon)
Darius: This is it! I think you're finally ready for your first mission!
Regin: Absolutely! Just tell me what I need to do!
Darius: Its very dangerous, my boy! Only the bravest souls go! You'll be fine though, just as long as you follow exactly what's on this list! Be careful, be brave, I'll see you when you return!
------------------- 30 minutes later
Regin: *in a grocery store* This is not what I had in mind...

Based very loosely on an idea a rp with an AI gave me (these things are a hit or miss but sometimes they have good ideas)
"I'm gonna catch you!"
"Yeah! If you can keep up, precious!" Hunter called back teasingly.
"Don't get cocky, little prince!" Regin called back, giggling slightly.
Hunter jutted his chin upwards, the five-year-old having impressive balance, especially when compared to his four-year-old friend, who stumbled in trying to catch up, still Regin fixed his stability quickly, eagerly, "Ha! Head of the Emperor's Coven doesn't need to get cocky! He's ta'ented on his own!" the blonde bragged.
Regin scrunched his nose, "W-well the 'bomananion head is easily more powe'ful!" Coven Heads, easily the two children's favorite game, and one they knew how to play very well.
"Its abomination silly!" Hunter corrected though he easily wore a grin.
"I know what I said, Hunt!"
"Yeah? Well-"
"What is all this ruckus!?" a voice demanded immediately tensing the atmosphere around the two kids and putting an end to their fun game, Hunter's face ran red with embarrassment, avoiding Terra Snapdragon's scowling face. Regin glared at her for bothering Hunter, something he could easily read from the stiffened stature of the five-year-old.
"We were p'aying!" Regin defended. Terra didn't take any of the younger child's defense into consideration, merely sticking her nose up at the idea with a far too sweet smile.
"Future Coven Heads have no time for childish games," she hummed, "and that's what you two hope to be, right?" she surveyed the two boys, as if disgusted by the mere thought of them taking over one day but quickly forced back her faux smile, "If that's the case, you two should be studying or training, not.... whatever this is," she flicked her hand dismissively.
All the joy in the game was instantly sucked out, both children slouched slightly in defeat.
"I'd especially except you to know that Hunter, of anybody," Terra added.
Regin frowned seeing Hunter turn his head away, presumably in shame. He looked like he wanted to say something, but the blonde boy never did, instead stalking away silently.
Even later on in the day, Regin was still disappointed in the game being disrupted, a fact Darius took note of, especially as he brushed Regin's hair. He'd expected his son's sulkly attitude to have worn off by now, "Precious...?" he gently murmured, "Is something wrong?"
Regin was silent, though Darius quickly picked up on him nervously scratching and prodding at his shirt, Darius sighed softly, finally setting the brush aside lifting the child just slightly and turning him so he was facing him, but Regin was avoiding his gaze instead. Darius clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth, gently tucking his chin under his index finger and his thumb, tilting his head upwards.
"Reg, I can't help you when you don't talk to me. Tell me what's upsetting you."
Regin hesitated but slowly lifted his gaze, his lip trembling slightly before throwing his arms around his father's neck, "Miss Snapdragon 'nterrupted mine and Hunt's game... said we shouldn't do it.." the toddler huffed, leaning against Darius's chest.
Darius felt himself tense at that, a sneer appearing on his expression at the thought of someone telling his son what to do, something he saw no issues in him doing. While it was expected Regin eventually train, his powers hadn't even peaked through yet, and he wanted him to have a far better childhood than he did. He never wanted school of all places to be Regin's safe escape. He shook his head.
"Don't listen to her, precious boy... there was absolutely nothing wrong with what you were doing."
"Wh-why was she so mean den?" the toddler whimpered out, clinging tighter to Darius's shirt
Darius shook his head slightly, sighing, "Because she's a nasty, bitter old woman," he assured gently, "You enjoy your years of playing games while you can.... ok?"
Regin nodded slightly, while mostly at ease, something else nagged at the little boy's mind, "Papa?"
"Mmhmmm?"
"You can get them to let Hunt p'ay too, right?"
Darius looked down to the boy's dark eyes, then sighed softly, "I'll... I'll see what I can do.." he murmured, not wanting to make a promise then break it, especially when he knew his hands were tied in the matter. Regin seemed pleased nonetheless, relaxing against Darius.
"T'ank you papa..."
Darius rested his chin on top of Regin's head with a hum of acknowledgement, "Anything for my boy."

Orchid had always looked so dashing on him. He'd know it, his father told him so, especially back when he was a toddler still relying on Darius to pick his outfits out for him (something Darius had such a hard time letting go of). But as Regin picked absent-mindedly picked at his sleeve, he couldn't help but wonder what other colors he'd look nice in. One he was specifically interested in was light blue, though at this rate he'd settle for anything. Anything but a pure focus on the orchid he'd been taught to wear in association.
The Emperor had assured that gold was always an option but Darius had protested it the moment they were home safe, not that Regin wanted to go with that option anyways. He couldn't pin why, but the mere thought of the Emperor's Coven made him uneasy, unsafe. The one exception was his childhood best friend, Hunter. The realization hitting him, once more, that it wasn't colors he was curious about, rather what they symbolized sent a fresh wave of dread come crashing over him, and in turn made the need to pinch and prod at his clothing all the more excessive.
For every other witch, this decision was no big deal, and he'd taken note of Darius trying to postpone his sigil marking. He acted ever oblivious though. Information was a dangerous thing, so the less he knew, the better. Plus, if it was truly important that he knew, he trusted Darius would tell him. And it really wasn't so much that he thought his father would be angry at his idea to be in a different course from Ambomination. It was more of the fact that the majority of fellow Coven Head Witches were.... assholes, for lack of a better term. The ones he'd be willing to learn under were few and far between but he was starting to think he'd have to stop being so picky and simply go with Bard or Beast Keeping. The bigger problem, he felt, was how to bring it up.
He'd been treated like a little prince by Darius (ten fold after what happened to his mother, even if Darius wasn't her biggest fan), always talking about how wonderful it was to have a 'mini me'. Someone 'reliable' to take over the Coven. Regin winced as he pinched too hard, catching his skin along with the sleeve, glaring down at the white cloth as he thought about how he didn't feel he could put Darius through that. Not after everything. He rubbed roughly at the spot he'd caught between his fingers, not giving the sound of approaching footsteps much concern until a voice was paired with them.
"There's my precious boy," Darius called, walking over to Regin who tensed up slightly, the thoughts that previously filled his head making it impossible for the teenager to look up to him; Darius frowned picking up on the fact, "What's wrong?"
Regin shook his head, stilling his voice as he turned his head fully from Darius's view, "Nothing, papa..."
Darius tsked at this, "Fifteen years and you still think I don't know my own son? You made a face, right before you looked away. Your sleeve has clearly been picked at. Need I go on?"
Regin gave a soft grunt, hugging his arms closer to his chest, "Papa..." he groaned.
"Uh huh, and you're whining now too, see? I know something is bothering you.... come on. You can tell me."
Regin huffed quietly, laying his head against his arm, "Papa, it's no big deal, really. Just drop it.."
Darius hesitated, wanting to push the subject but he knew it wouldn't help anything, he gently reached his hand up to affectionately ruffle the boy's hair, "You don't have to hide things from me... but I'll be here whenever you're ready, precious.."
Regin finally let his eyes drift back to Darius slightly, then he nodded, "I know... I know you will papa.." he murmured.
