Human brains have a well documented negativity bias, which means we have a much easier time focusing on bad stuff than good. It takes effort to focus on the good for very long (and by “very long,” I often mean “more than a few seconds”). It just doesn’t come naturally. . I wonder if it might be easier to think of the things we love? To remember that there are thousands of them out there all the time? People, memories, music, art, sunsets, fireworks, pets... We forget things we love sometimes. We definitely forget how good it feels to do the creative work we love if we’re away from it for too long—and if we’re not away from it at all, we take that feeling for granted. Don’t forget how good it feels, how much you love it, how it makes you come alive.
