Something I noticed abt internet discussions is that sometimes someone makes a post with 2 different unrelated ideas/opinions with one of them (usually the main idea/opinion) being sound and correct while the other is wrong or lacks tact.

But when someone comments trying to criticize/correct the wrong idea, people, usually OP, take it as a disagreement with the first correct idea and paint the critic as dumb or bigoted or disrespectful for it, and if that reaction works some people even start believing in the wrong idea out of performatism, afraid to look like they disagree with the right opinion
