A pain at times

Bossy even when you were sick

But most of all, loving beyond words

But not as much as your bestie here

She's back to making her special drawings/written messages for you

Yesterday I lost a piece of my 💜 guys. I lost my Mama. She was admitted into hospital on Monday with a fever of 39.5°c by Tuesday afternoon she was no longer with us. She wasn't a well woman especially since her having to be placed in a medically induced coma due to her contracting pneumonia back in 2012. My mama has been in a lot of pain for a LOT of years and I am so glad that she is no longer in any pain. May the choirs of angels come to greet you, may they speed you to paradise where you can rest peacefully with Aunty Theresa, Grandad, Grandma and all the other family we have lost. Have a great party up there Mama, it's more than we can have down here right now. I'm kinda jealous 🤣 Love you eternally 💜 Whilst we haven't had a firm confirmation of exact cause of death, all her symptoms align with COVID-19...we should have more info tomorrow. All I can ask is you please tell your loved ones how much they mean to you. Use this downtime to reconnect where you can. Today in 1971, we lost a legend.

Rest In Peace, Jim. Thank you for touching our lives with music, poetry, and voice.

My dad, who was actually alive for its release, can remember the first time he heard ‘Riders on the Storm.’ He remembered looking at a photograph of Jim and recognizing the mystery that lived within his eyes. He used to sing the song to my brother and me to scare us...”there’s a killer on the road/his brain is squirming like a toad...” Believe me when I say it worked. But besides being scared, I was intrigued. I, too, felt the mystery living inside Jim, and heard the revolution in his voice. I remember the first time I saw a photograph of him. I thought, “Wow! He has the best hair I’ve ever seen!” I also saw that distant look in his eyes, the same one my father had also seen when he was just a boy. He was the symbol of ‘cool’ for me.

Jim and the doors have had such a great impact on my life. They taught me to love music and poetry, and to be myself. Rest In Peace Lizard King, Mr. Mojo Risin, James Douglas Morrison.

It was a special Christmas, not only because it was dad’s last, but also because there were many instances from that day that exemplified who he was as a person. The morning started out like a typical morning, cooking breakfast for dad. We then began preparing for the annual Christmas Eve party. As I was finishing up cooking my brussels sprouts dish, dad walked into the kitchen because he knew @nobles.i would be replicating his world famous mussels dish next. He took a look and a smell of my dish and said “wow it smells good.” My heart melted. Later on as Irene was cooking the mussels, dad being dad, of course he wanted to help, so he saw a small bunch of green onions and began to chop. I observed from where I was, and it seemed like second nature to him. The way he held the chef’s knife in one hand, and the green onions in the other, was firm yet gentle. Every slice was so effortless. Irene took notice and said “dad, you gotta save your energy for the party.” So she took over chopping the green onions, and no offense, I love you, but in comparison to dad, you smushed those onions up and chopped them so forcefully. Culinary expert was dad. As the party was starting, our cousin from Cincinnati came in with a bengals sweater, and dad says “hey did you come from an ugly sweater contest?” If you know dad, you know that he was a jokester. Even in the days leading up to his passing, he still had jokes! Comedian was dad. As the party wore on, dad started to tire, so he went to lay down. The time for the kids to open presents was coming up, so despite his fatigue, he asked Irene and mom to help him to the couch so he could watch. You could see the joy in his face when he saw me dressed up as a ghetto Santa, handing out presents to the kids and watching them unwrap their gifts. You could tell at that moment he was at peace. Happy was dad. ******* Dad, we thank you for everything, especially your delicious food, corny dad jokes, and uplifting spirit. Rest now.
