13 years ago, I received a phone call at 2AM that I will never forget. The passing of a parent is the toughest thing to process and experience. It's not easy when it happens. Matter of fact, it's something that you know 'eventually' is going to happen, but it's tough to deal with when it does. But I have found strength in three specific things: (1) My Faith. (2) My Memories. I've found, that this is the best way of holding on to the people you loved and lost. I can't remember every day, but I remember every moment...and that is something I will NEVER forget and that keeps me smiling. (3) My Family and Friends. It's your TRUE FRIENDSHIP and LOVE that not only supports me, but is there when any of us are in need. I sincerely value, appreciate and LOVE you all. I THANK YOU with ALL OF MY HEART!!! Today we recognize National Vietnam War Veterans Day - observed every year on March 29th. Today we thank and honor our nation’s Vietnam veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice. There are five objectives with Vietnam War Veterans' commemoration and the other four are: • Highlight the service of our Armed Forces and support organizations during the war • Pay tribute to wartime contributions at home by American citizens • Highlight technology, science and medical advances made during the war • Recognize contributions by our Allies. About an hour before the surgery, the ENT doctor told the pre-op nursing staff and me that I would not be able to talk for 72 hours after my surgery... ...this was the pre-op nursing staff after I went into surgery. 🤣🤣🤣 ALL KIDDING ASIDE: SHOUT OUT to all the #doctors, #nurses, #scientists, and #firstresponders who are working massive amounts of hours in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. A HAPPY NEW YEARS MOTIVATION for ALL!!!

There's should be a certain stimulus - to the world, a nation, an individual - about a New Year and a new decade. You sense it the moment the clock strikes midnight on December 31st.

May we approach this moment as the "optimist" who looks forward to the New Year and stays up until midnight to see the New Year in, and not the 'pessimist' who stays up to make sure the old year leaves.

May we embrace this as a day of hope and a fresh beginning, and not a new start to old habits.

May we celebrate our victories/successes from the previous year and decade, and learn and grow from our setbacks/mistakes/failures.

May we do our best to improve ourselves, our community, our nation and our world.

May we be at war with our vices and at peace with our neighbors.

Lastly, may we extend dignity, compassion and respect (in thoughts, words and actions) to ALL people at ALL times under ALL circumstances.
