#reverse satam lore

Note
Hello hello! Just dropping in to say that your different Sonic SATAM verses are really really cool and your art is lovely! It’s so pretty! ;u;
I’m so interested in these verses now. I was wondering, do you have a story, or a comic, or a post about the lore of them? They’re just so neat I wanna know more! It’s so interesting!
Have a great day! :)
Thanks so much!!! 💖💖💖💖 I'm so glad you like it!
(I actually forget if I made an actual lore post with all the stuff in one place rip) my lore is also pretty disorganized for most stuff, I'm just doin whatever, but here's some of the more fleshed out lore I have.
The reverse aus mostly follow similar storyline points to canon, with diversions due to the characters having different personalities. The satam one is based on that plot point where Robotnik and Snively are the sole survivors of a space colony, while the Archie one is based on the overlander-mobian war thing.
Both Satam and Archie reverse have a bloody war (which Julian served in as a medic before becoming Minister of Medical Science) that ends in The Great Peace, ushered in by Jules Hedgehog. However the "peace" is only in name, as the empire of anti-King Acorn is fraught with oppression and state violence. The lower classes starve while being crushed under Acorn's brutal rule. Julian and Johnny, along with several other revolutionaries, succeed in overthrowing the tyrant, but the kingdom is thrown into turmoil in the process. Princess Alicia, (anti-Sally), takes this opportunity to throw her father into the Zone of Silence with the help of anti-Sonic (this happens later than Robotnik's coup in the canon universe).
The Suppression Squad (anti-FF) is either staging a coup, being mercenaries for whichever forces are fighting for power, or just being general troublemakers at this point. Anti-Sonic hasn't yet become known as Scourge. Julian retires from his position as minister and sets up his clinic. Johnny manages the security and more actively fights against any would-be tyrants/terrorists. He doesn't have the same code against violence as Julian.
As the Suppression Squad gets more violent powerful, and Scourge starts his conquest of Moebius in earnest, Johnny and Julian flee into the Great Forest and create a force-field that makes their encampment invisible to unwanted guests. They take refugees and injured people in.
Here's some of my reverse StC lore. It follows the "Ovi Kintobor was transformed into Doctor Robotnik in an accident" storyline, but it has Kintobor being part of a very suppressive, fascist ideology. Robotnik is the product of Kintobor's repressed kindness and compassion, things that Kintobor would see as weakness and treachery. The badniks (goodniks?) in this au are like ai life support systems and mobility devices for disabled Moebians, as well as protection from danger. They're like mech suits that protect their little buddies.
Reverse Sonic Underground is based on some of my conjecture about the ppl from the Six is a Crowd episode. Robotnik was once the music teacher for the triplets. Anti-Aleena ruled over a society similar to the "Great Peace" I described in Satam/Archie, where the upper classes thrived and the average citizen struggled in poverty. Robotnik was part of the lower class, and suffered from an ailment which he couldn't afford to have looked at (also lived in a dirty-ass apartment with nasty water and mold probably). Despite this, he did genuinely care about the triplets, even being closer to them as a parental figure than their mother. At some point, his illness caused him to develop necrosis in his arms and legs (or something I'm still figuring it out) and he had to have them all amputated, nearly dying in the process. Aleena arranged for him to have cybernetic limbs attached, and moved him out of his deathtrap apartment and into the palace. (that's the backstory and I'm still figuring out how they got to the point in the episode)

A'ight, time for Sonic Multiverse 101!
Here's every important Sonic media/continuity/universe/dimension, summarized so you can educate you're non-Sonic-crazy friends.
Wrote this for my Discord friends last night and thought Tumblr might be interested.
Games:
Modern Sonic--Sonic Sonic/Normal Sonic/This is main one, used in almost every game, the OG, the truest canon, this is Sonic. He runs around, beats Eggman, destroys robots, and saves everything from the little animals to the whole planet when it rips itself apart.
Classic Sonic--Just Sonic from the past, until time travel in that one game set him on an alternate timeline.
Boom Sonic--Different universe altogether, where everything is less serious. This world got three mostly-terrible games and two good, hilarious seasons of TV.
TV:
90's:
Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog (AoStH)--Humor, Robotnik and his henchbots are ridiculous, Tails is a 4-year-old, and Sonic Sez smoking, stealing, and accepting candy from strangers are No Good. Aimed at kiddos, explosions and goofiness.
Sonic the Hedgehog (Saturday Morning) (SatAM)--Darker and more serious, introduces the Freedom Fighters, trying to retake the Kingdom of Acorn back from Robotnik, while praying every day that their forest hideout isn't discovered, for fear of being roboticized into a mindless slave.
Sonic Underground--Sonic is a prince, has siblings, and they're in a band. They use music to fight Robotnik while trying to reunite with their mother so they can fulfill the prophecy that will free their kingdom from Robotnik's rule.
00's-20's:
Sonic X--Anime! The first one to actually come out of Japan, and the first that really took stories from the games, Sonic, friends, and Eggman get teleported from their world to Earth, and they (not Eggman) live with humans until they can get back home. Humor, but some parts could make grown men cry.
Sonic Boom--First in 3D, same world as the Boom games, stupid-funny, and Eggman secretly wants to be friends with Sonic.
Sonic Prime--??? Coming 2022!
Comics:
There are so many little manga and whatnot that I'm not going to mention them all. Here's the big ones:
Archie's Sonic the Hedgehog--American, originally based off SatAM, continuing the story of the Freedom Fighters. ~24 years of comics is too much to summarize, but there was romance drama, tons of world-building and lore, epic battles, angst, amazing characterization, a multiverse, and a reboot that took almost all of that away just a few years before the series finally caved. This has a few important alt universes, pre-reboot:
Sonic Prime--Savior of the multiverse, OG Sonic, yada yada. Likely no relation to the TV show of the same name.
Scourge--Anti-Sonic/Evil Sonic from the reverse dimension where everyone good is bad and vice versa. Green, wears a leather jacket and shades.
Zonic--Zone Cop from the No-Zone, 90 degrees from everywhere, in charge of keeping an eye on all the Sonics and making sure no one(Sonic or otherwise) goes into another universe unless it's necessary for plot without authorization.
Fleetway's Sonic the Comic--British, so I'm less familiar with it. Again starting with Robotnik having taken over the world, and Sonic and a different group of Freedom Fighters do their best to take him down. Unfortunately, this series never made it past the 90's. Also has a couple different Sonics that are important to distinguish:
Sonic--A bit of a jerk, though he really does care about his friends.
Super Sonic--Invincible psycho murderer who is activated when Sonic is too stressed or too exposed to chaos energy. Until Super gets his own body and looses his powers and memory, then he's an adorable baby who wouldn't hurt a fly.
IDW's Sonic the Hedgehog--American, the current series, three years old! Much more based on the games. Sonic and friends have to deal with whatever Evil Scheme Eggman has planned This Time, as well as dealing with a bunch of new baddies. Adventure!
Misc: OVA--The original movie/anime! Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles fight Robotnik and Metal Sonic, to rescue Princess Sara.
Movie--Sonic barely escapes his home planet with his life, then spends ten years stalking this human couple on Earth before getting caught and going on a Friendship Adventure. In the fandom, Sonic has adopted the couple's last name, Wachowski.
And I believe that's it!

Top five favorite Sonic characters
Ah, something a bit simpler this time around!
5. Dr. Finitevus
Tumblr media
Probably the best villain to come out of the old Archie books, Finitevus’ time was sadly rather brief... but man, what an impact the guy had. It says something that despite his relative lack of screen time compared to the other villains, he still stands out as one of the most memorable things in Archie. With a slick visual style, nightmarish goals and some truly audacious schemes to his name, Finitevus remains one of my favorite villains in all of Sonic.
4. Bunnie Rabbot
Tumblr media
She’s a cute rabbit who also happens to be a cyber-enhanced bruiser, what’s not to like? But seriously, I love Bunnie. Her entire schtick of having been someone who escaped the Roboticzer but marred all the same and her desire to return to her old self is compelling in of itself, to say nothing of her turning Robotnik’s own evil against him because of it. Standing out as a horrible reminder of what the threat of Robotnik entails, the fact she continues on with a sweet and playful disposition despite everything makes her an easy favorite in any continuity.
3. Sally Acorn
Tumblr media
Ah, Sally Acorn. Through good times and bad (and oh LORDY were there some bad times) I’ve stuck with her. Her entire story and character is appealing to me- a princess forced to become a rebel leader due to losing everything at the hands of a tyrant, she’s a pretty fresh take on the old ‘REbel Princess’ bit, thanks to her down to earth attitude and the fact that she doesn’t ‘really’ see herself as a princess first. The fact she leads the others by example and refuses to actually MAKE them do anything says everything, as does the fact that her relationship with Sonic is likewise built upon a level of mutual trust and respect that does not include actually ordering anyone to do anything. You’re still the best, Sal, even if you’d been done dirty for such a long, long time.
2. Dr. Robotnik (SatAM)
Tumblr media
Surprised that this guy is only number 2? Well, it’s true! Honestly I could have probably put “Eggman In General” here, since it’s true, but as this is the incarnation I love most... well, here we are. Even after all these years I can’t get enough of this guy- from the nightmarish implications of his plans, smoothly evil voice and delightful mix of cold malevolence and gleeful wickedness, Robotnik has been one of my favorites for a long, long time now. In particular the implications about his past as a hero, and the fact that despite the bravado Sonic puts on, Sonic is legitimately terrified of what he can do and absolutely HATES him. Given that Sonic is a character meant to embody freedom, I find it all too appropriate for his enemy to be a tyrant whose desire for control is so all consuming that he seeks to rule a dead world of machine perfection. Even after all this time, this is still my favorite take on the doc, and that ain’t changing anytime soon.
1. Knuckles the Echidna
Tumblr media
Yeah, I enjoy suffering a lot. But it’s true- ever since I first saw Knuckles, the guy just intrigued me. And if I’m being honest, the Knuckles series DID help spark a lot of my interest in him, even as I now realize that so much of those stories and the lore attached to them was nonsense. All the same though- Knuckles devotion to his duty and the solemness of his life is something that draws me to him, along with the subtle tragedy of his character. It’s been painful, I admit, as his stupidity became the trait most played up upon by SEGA... until, inexplicably being reversed for Sonic forces, but despite that this guy is still my favorite among the main Sonic heroes. The fact that his naivete is rooted in his belief in the fundamental goodness of others, despite his gruff and anti-social exterior, is something that always gets to me. He hasn’t had the best treatment over the years, and knowing that makes being a fan of his rather painful.... but eh, I know why I like the guy. He’ll always be the best to me.

Practice drawing Sniv bc he's hard to draw for some reason
Also I call him Johnny in the reverse zone because regular universe Snively's actually a nickname based on his personality, and Reverse boy's personality is a bit different so it didn't fit as well. I couldn't think of a different nickname tho lol. I know regular guy's name is Colin after his father, and I was gonna go with that, but then I hced him as trans, therefore making him choose his own name. Given his relationship with his dad in this universe, it seemed out of character to have him take his dad's name. I got 'Johnny' from 'Johnny Snively', which was his alternate's name in that one lawyer universe, and it stuck. (PS Julian is trans too because trans bears are super important)
