Hello Y'all, there are eight shelving units in my studio which hold the majority of my LPs. They are broken into genres. Two of those units hold my Jazz, Latin, Brazilian, African, Indian, and Jamaican LPs. (Other countries are represented but only in small numbers). I picked up some great records in 2021 that are now pushing the limits of those shelves. I was able to upgrade my Heath Brothers Marchin' On! from a second to a first press from @Station1booksvinyl along with Orchestra Dicupe. While away for a few days I picked up some incredible records including John Coltrane - Soultrane, Thelonious Monk - Misterioso, and Ray Rodriquez And Duro's heavy Salsa LP. @Cyclotronic hooks me up with some long time wants and this year was no different including an upgrade (with signature) of Hugh Hopper - 1984, and a record I have sadly slept on for too long, Ray Barretto - Indestructible...if you see it, buy it. @revillagrooves is a great place to sample records that look right, smell right, and of course sound right. Hello Y'all, I feel one of the best ways to deal with what life throws at you is music. Sadly I have not been able to play my drums for quite some time but I do find a similar escape in listening to music. This is part one of my pick-ups from 2021. All of these LPs were in constant rotation. The Curtis with the hype sticker was a long time want. I have owned about five or six copies but never one with the sticker. I had never heard of Trilark but could not be happier stumbling upon this incredible record in a bin filled with constantly flipped common records. Purchased on the same day was the Walter Murphy funky sound library release on Major Records. I have only ever had a reissue of the Fatback Band's mostly instrumental debut LP. This copy is as close to NM as you can get so it was worth the wait.Somehow I missed AJ And The Jiggawatts but have now filled my boxes with everything I could get my hands on. After picking up the three Johnny! 7-inches in 2016 I only hoped there would be more or an LP. Hello Y’all! The concept of opening Finyl Vinyl was that half the shop was OG pressings and the other half re-issues. Robert tried to curate the re-issues to be records he wanted to make customers aware of. Many of them were records you never knew existed and others were on your want list for so many years you would probably never get a chance to enjoy them in your lifetime. My personal favorites were the unreleased sessions. Recently I stumbled upon a few of each. There is a small latin music shop in Jersey City that is filled with records, cds, VHS tapes, DVDs, musical instruments and occasionally equipment. Recently they started to carry re-issues. I have picked up and can’t stop listening to the amazing Louie Ramirez Y Su Orquesta, the rare as hen’s teeth El Combo Moderno, Joe Pappy And His Combo, Joe Acosta, and Johnny Zamot. i recently found the essential Albina Music Trust. I love instrumentals, I love ensemble Funk and Soul and I love the word, unreleased. I picked up two of their beautifully packaged and sounding issues, The Gangsters and Slickophonic. These are a must and it would have been a crime if these never saw the light of day My buddy @k_tomalin and I will send each other impossible to find records. About a month ago he sent me The Feed-Back and I was immediately obsessed.
