In the latest scans for "Dragon Ball: Sparking ZERO," we see the reveals for several playable characters, not just the usual ones, but also characters from Dragon Ball Super, even minor ones.
One of which happens to be Kakunsa/Sanka Ku...which means that...
Tumblr media
WE'RE GETTING RIBRIANNE IN SPARKING ZERO, WE'RE (PROBABLY) GETTING THE ENTIRE KAMIKAZE FIREBALLS IN SPARKING ZERO, OH MY GOD I'M SO FUCKING EXCITED, TO HAVE A GAME (OUTSIDE OF XENOVERSE) WHERE THEY'RE PLAYABLE!!!

My submission for @dbshipsweek. Coincidentally, I found out about the ship week during my planning of this meme and decided to submit it for this fun event. It may not be as awesome as some of the awesome art submitted by talented artists such as LongMonthArtist, SweetEscapeArtist or DBZsenpai, but I still think there can be enjoyment out of this meme.
As always, my over long explanation is optional; READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED. Or whatever tickles your fancy.
Why did I make this? Well, I'll tell you since you didn't ask.
I was curious as to how certain scenes from Dragon Ball Super were done in its Spanish dub. They were decent as far as I could tell. But the one that took my breath away was 18's Tournament moment. No matter which language, her moment is always an amazing mix of sweetness, bad assery, and spectacle. But the Spanish dub found a way to increase that K18 sweetness by adding the words "mi amor" when she spoke Krillin's name. "Mi amor" is Spanish for "my love." There exists a version of this scene where 18 refers to Krillin as "her love." WOW! That slaps. So naturally, I went to work on bringing this discovery to the public in a humorous fashion.
However, I must admit that "mi amor" in context of the Spanish language is more of a nickname; it's the Spanish equivalent to English's "honey" or "sweetie", which Krillin already does in the English dub. But still! The fact that she says it in the Spanish dub just . . . just . . . hits different.
Now for the disclaimer: I am not claiming that the Spanish dub of DBS is the best dub of the series, nor do I think the English dub is superior or worse to the original Japanese dub. This was just my way of bringing appreciation to the Spanish dub. Please don't make a dub war out of this; you are allowed to rank the dubs however you like. This was done for the purposes of fun and not for dub/sub hating.
Have your own opinion:

Major credit goes to @shencomix (owlturd.com) for the meme drawings on the right side of the meme. I did not make them (I wish I could).
Have a nice day.

AKIRA TORIYAMA STEPS IN FOR KRILLIN'S SAKE
Tumblr media
Unlike in the DBS anime continuity where the Kamikaze Fireballs have an obsession with a false idea of love, manga chapter 36 of the Tournament of Power Arc reveals that the Kamikaze Fireballs are obsessed with beauty standards.
Tumblr media
But, did you know that Toyotaro's original draft was different from what we got? He even had Krillin call Ribrianne fat & ugly before we got the final product.
TOYOTARO'S DRAFT ✏️
Tumblr media
Yup. And after revealing that the beauty standards are reversed, Toyotaro planned to have Ribrianne notice Krillin and call him "gorgeous."
Tumblr media
In effect, Toyotaro was calling Krillin extremely ugly. That was his "joke." Toyotaro is not very good at comedy.
HOWEVER... Toriyama steps in to fix things, changing Toyotaro's original dialogue.
TORIYAMA'S CORRECTIONS 📝
Tumblr media
Toyotaro attempted to mischaracterize Krillin by making him rude towards women. Toriyama has never written Krillin like that. Toyotaro attempted to call Krillin ugly. Toriyama has never called Krillin ugly.
In fact, the "kuri" part of Krillin's name is a pun meaning chestnut & references his bald head. "Kuri" can also mean monastery kitchen & Krillin trained at a monastery. Also,"kuri-kuri" is onomatopoeia for something cute and round; like the shape of Krillin's eyes & face. And "kurikuri" can mean bald like Krillin's shaved head. Only ppl who dislike Krillin have called him ugly.
TOYOTARO'S ORIGINAL INTENT: Krillin calls Ribrianne ugly, then after we are told that their beauty standards are reversed, Ribrianne practically says that Krillin is the ugliest man she's ever seen.
TORIYAMA'S CORRECTION: Krillin never insults Ribrianne & only acknowledges the beauty standards that he's familiar with & he assumes Universe 2's standards are different. Then, Whis says beauty is subjective. Next, Beerus calls Ribrianne "kinda cute" then, Ribrianne calls Krillin attractive.
With this necessary correction, Toriyama attempted to make it less about "pretty & ugly" and more about "subjective beauty." And the revised panel where Helles says "That planet's an exception" just goes to show that beauty is subjective just as Whis mentioned.
(Like how in medieval times & time after that, bigger women were more attractive than slender women because being a big woman meant they had money and were more likely to survive. Then, stick skinny women were viewed as attractive in the 90's. And currently "thicc" women are viewed as attractive. Or how women with a lot of plastic surgery & injections are viewed as attractive too. Beauty standards change. And every place around the world has their own different beauty standards.)
With Toriyama's corrections, the next page where Ribrianne calls Krillin "gorgeous" now reads in a slightly different & less negative way.
Tumblr media
Toriyama's changes imply that the Kamikazes Fireballs just find Krillin's simplistic features attractive, not that he's "ugly." Even Beerus calling Ribrianne cute implies that Krillin would also be considered "cute."
However, Krillin's reaction to being complimented by them reveals Toyotaro's original intent to insult Krillin still survived in certain places...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Krillin is visually upset when Whis teases him about how the Kamikaze Fireballs calling him handsome (the opposite would be hideous).
Krillin is visually upset when Beerus tells him "good work" [for being ugly].
There are other instances where Toriyama had to step in to correct Toyotaro's writing and art, but this one was just focused on Krillin. Maybe I will do more in the future. Maybe I won't.
CONCLUSION
Instances in Toyotaro's writing like these contradict Toriyama's works. Krillin is never called ugly in Toriyama's original work nor is he called ugly in his recent works. Toriyama treats Krillin with respect while Toyotaro treats him with disrespect. You wanna know how Toriyama writes Krillin? Read the original manga, watch the DBS anime, & watch DBS: Super Hero (Toriyama was heavily involved in the script and character designs for that film).
The DBS manga is proof of how much Toyotaro doesn't understand the characters & reveals his strong dislike for Krillin. Toyotaro's almost Koyama 2.0. (Koyama is the one who insulted Krillin and made him look bad in DBZ & DBZ movies when Toriyama never did in his manga. Koyama hated Krillin.)
The superior version of these events are in the DBS anime. The Kamikaze Fireballs' obsession with artificial love & the themes during the 18 vs Ribrianne battle were excellent! And the way Ribrianne talked about K18 cleverly reflects how K18 haters (like Toyotaro) speak about Krillin & 18.
Anyway, I just thought I'd bring this information to ppl who may not have noticed it. The fact that Toriyama had to change every bit of the dialogue on that one page is insane! This reveals how Toriyama feels about his beloved character while revealing Toyotaro's obvious disdain for Krillin (& others who aren't Saiyans, Vegeta, or Roshi).
Special thanks to @contentexplorer for sending me a link to a translation of this page. It really helped me with my translation.
Tumblr media
But now, I'm worried about how Toyotaro will write Krillin in his adaptation of DBS: Super Hero. Will Toyotaro insult Krillin in sly ways? Will he make 18 unnecessarily cruel towards Krillin? Will he take away moments & feats of skill/power that Krillin had and give them to another character? Knowing how Toyo does things, at least one of these things will happen... 😒
BONUS INFO...
Toriyama would have had to correct 4 pages at the least, & 6 pages at the most regarding Ribrianne vs 18. It was May 2018 when this chapter came out. This is during a time when when Toriyama was working on DBS: Broly (released December 14) & DBS: Super Hero (was in pre-production since 2017). He just made quick corrections and let Toyotaro do his thing. Which ended up being Toyotaro rushing through the ToP and mischaracterizing other characters.
Toyotaro said in a 2022 interview that he watched Super Hero to understand how Toriyama writes so he can improve. This reveals two things. #1 is that Toyo DOES NOT understand how to write these characters at all. #2 is that Toriyama is not writing the manga as many falsely claim. He is barely involved in the writing. Toriyama lets Toyotaro write most of that while Toriyama gets a credit for being the creator of the series.
I have too much on my mind & I'm likely overcrowding this with too much info. I'll probably end up editing this post later so it's shorter. 😓

Dragon Ball Super 077
Tumblr media
tfw the Universal Survival Saga finally starts.
Tumblr media
tfw you realize it doesn’t actually get good until the Tournament of Power starts 20 episodes later.
Tumblr media
Okay, so like I said, we’ve got a ways to go yet, but we do have the new opening featuring the Tournament of Power characters, setting, and so forth.  And it’s pretty cool.
Tumblr media
It also features my favorite part, where Vegeta and Ribrianne throw down.  Sweet.
Tumblr media
So, just like the last few episodes, this one is about Goku being bored.  Also, the two Grand Zenos are bored.
Tumblr media
Goku wants to go to Beerus’ planet to train, but Vegeta doesn’t want to go along because Bulma is pregnant.
Tumblr media
Goku brings a snack for Beerus and Whis, and Beerus notices a bruise on Goku’s arm, which he got from some crooks who tried to hijack his farm truck.  Goku’s gotten so soft that he let a bullet graze him, sort of like Krillin from two episodes back.
Tumblr media
So Beerus wants Goku to train some more because he’s gotten sloppy.  Well, yeah, that’s why Goku came here in the first place.  I don’t understand this episode at all.  Finally, Goku realizes that he can get a real workout by reminding Grand Zeno of that big multiversal tournament he proposed wayyyyy back in Episode 42.  Beerus tells him to forget the whole thing, but Goku has that button Zeno gave him that will allow him to see Zeno whenever he wants.
Tumblr media
Beerus threatens to destroy Goku for pushing this matter, but Goku just presses the button and does whatever he wants.  He can’t tell the two Zenos apart, but one of them remembers the Destroyer Invitational Tournament, and Goku reminds him of his plan to hold his own tournament.  Zeno’s like “Oh yeah, I forgot about that.”  So we’re off to the races.
Tumblr media
Beerus punches Goku when he gets back... wait, how did Goku go back to Beerus’ planet?  Maybe Zeno’s button can send him back where he came from.  Anyway, Beerus can complain all he wants, but it’s his own fault for holding the other tournament that gave Zeno the idea.  Anyway, they all schlep over to the Sacred World of the Kais, where the Grand Minister appears before them to announce the event, which shall be called: “The Tournament of Power.”
So yeah, this is pretty much a nothing-happening episode.  Most of it was Goku reminding Zeno of that thing he said he was going to do, and the rest was hype for that moment.  Get used to this, because we have a long way to go before the tournament actually starts.
