Literally havent posted in tumblr in years, yet here is still the only place i can speak freely at my big age.

I cannot even put into words how much Naya Rivera and Santana Lopez meant to me growing up.

Brittana was the first wlw ship i got attached to. First ship i spent hours and hours reading about on fanfic.net. Santana was the first queer WOC character i could identify with. She helped me understand myself. I was beyond obsessed with Glee. I had the biggest flipping crush on Naya.

Her insane talent made it a joy to follow Santana through life.

Praying for her son, family and friends. Rest in Power Naya

I can't believe its been a whole year today that we lost Naya! We will forever miss you! here's a #throw🔙 of one of my many posts dedicated to her. 💔🕊💋 #repost • @mixdgrlprblems So for the rest of this week, I’m gonna pay tribute to our #NayaRivera by posting random facts and videos I can find about her. She was very talented and started in show business when she was only 9 months old! #Glee wasn’t her only claim to fame, she did a plethora of guest spots over the years, we grew up seeing her grow up and didn’t even realize it! Naya was born in Santa Clarita, California, on January 12, 1987. She lived in or around Los Angeles for most of her life. She was of #AfricanAmerican #German & #PuertoRican descent. Her parents are Yolanda, a former model, & George Rivera. She was the oldest of three children: her younger brother is former NFL tight end #MychalRivera & her younger sister is runway model #NickaylaRivera. At 8 or 9 months old, she began to be represented by the same talent agent as her mother, who had moved to Los Angeles to pursue modeling. From 1992-2002, she guest starred on all the popular shows of the 90s. If you’re a 90s kid, you gotta remember #FamilyMatters! From 1992 to ‘93, she played a 5 year old little vixen named, Gwendolyn in 3 episodes. This clip is from the 8th episode of Season 4 called Just One Date, she appears alongside Richie, Harriette Winslow’s nephew, and develops a crush while on a play date. This episode is the cutest thing I’ve seen today! 8 years ago, this month, I tried to kill myself. It wasn't my 1st try. I can't recall if it was the last. I wrote about it. I talked to my sister about wanting to see California for the first time, with plans to walk into the ocean, never to return. This is part of the pain of this. Three years later, I got my diagnosis and began taking medication. But the water never stopped calling my name. I'll be taking my first trip to California at the end of this month because the water STILL managed to take away a very big part of me. Somehow, I'll have to muster the strength to say goodbye. UPDATE: It’s a very sad #MixedGirlMonday. What we feared to be true has just been confirmed. #Glee star #NayaRivera has passed away. On July 8th, the actress went missing while boating with her young son on a lake in Southern California. On July 13th, her body was found. She was just 33 years old. After speaking with her son, Josey, authorities said they were able to conclude that he & Naya swam in the lake together. It was then that her son described being helped into the boat by Naya, who boosted him on to the deck from behind. He told investigators that he looked back & saw her disappear under the surface of the water but never coming back. The Sheriff's Department said upwards of 100 law enforcement & emergency personnel were "searching the depths of Lake Piru for the body of Naya Rivera who is missing with all indications she drowned." Authorities do not suspect foul play but an autopsy will be done soon. Besides Glee, Naya has appeared on the Bernie Mac Show, Family Matters, Smart Guy, Devious Maids, just to name a few & was set to star in the second season of Step Up: High Water. She had a singing voice that could blow anyone away. Her role on Glee was one of the few leads showing a Latinx/Multiracial actress as an out & proud lesbian that was also in an #interracial relationship. Her final post was a photo of her kissing Josey, which she captioned, "Just the two of us.” Eerily days prior on July 6, she reminded her 2 million Instagram followers that "tomorrow is not promised. No matter the year, circumstance, or strife everyday you're alive is a blessing. Make the most of today & every day you are given." Unfortunately, the Glee cast has been touched by tragedy time & again. In 2013, Cory Monteith suffered a fatal overdose & in 2018 Mark Salling died by suicide. Her body was found on the 7th anniversary of Cory Monteith's death. Prayers, condolences & everything positive goes out to her family, friends & fellow fans. Another absolute tragedy this year.
