or additionally.. one can think of any “sequence of random events” as a river of incoming locations / events cards. Rivergame is based on that being the very core system.. and it’s probably ok to think of games that are entirely 1 microsystem that you plan to use as a sub element in another game.

basically.. let yourself do quick implementations of subsystems you’ll run in another game.

And thematically.. let yourself be as indulgent as possible. this doesnt always mean in the same direction. for example, you may want to go super hard on a “Mistriver” with Moon-Painted Woods and other stuff and then sort of explain what it is later. You know like.. its sparklecore meets occult. its... like dark souls hollow knight flavored sparklecore..? It’s an aesthetic indulgence but people ARE drawn to it..

for example.. in “Rivergame”.. the core gameplay revolves around facing a sequence of random events, mocked up with some visuals using remixable elements. Some give you something nice, some take something away, most let you use something to avoid a bad fate. It’s like a random event’s deck that you have to keep drawing from each “Turn.”

Events are classified into certain TYPES and then you just run them using the distribution algorithm seperating them into SUBTYPES and fed to the player in a sort of narrative / flavored sublist. so i can say that.. Start with Intro Deck of  4x [get good thing event], 2x [lose good thing]. then its 2x +good, 2x - good, 2x opportunity. then introduce risky opportunity..

and you can change the groupings you’re using when like.. The player can switch “Biomes” at forks and what they pick is essentially a long term commitment. And then, instead of forks, there also are
