I am rereading the No Ordinary Fairy Tale series by @rj-anderson, and I am just astonished and grateful for how skillfully and eloquently the author discusses faith in Rebel. The fairy cosmology beautifully incorporates the Christian faith and ideals, and the story manages to have a character finding their faith again without it feeling preachy. R.J. is a skilled writer, and I am loving these books.

Dupla completamente nueva para GMC Hummer Chip Ganassi Racing en la Extreme E: Amanda Sorensen y RJ Anderson serán los pilotos en 2023

El equipo GMC Hummer EV Chip Ganassi Racing tendrá una renovada alineación de pilotos para 2023, después de conseguir un cuarto puesto en 2022 con Sara Price y Kyle LeDuc. Este año, contaremos con dos pilotos nuevos en la escudería estadounidense con Amanda Sorensen y RJ Anderson conformando el nuevo equipo.

Amanda Sorensen tiene 20 años y hará su debut absoluto en la Extreme E dentro de dos semanas en Arabia Saudita. La oriunda de Las Vegas tiene experiencia en off-road y en el drifting. Con solo 16 años en 2019, consiguió convertirse en la piloto más joven en debutar en Fórmula Drift y el mismo año consiguió el título del  Lucas Oil UTV Championship.

RJ Anderson ya tuvo algo de experiencia en la Extreme E cuando fue llamado a reemplazar a Kyle LeDuc en el Energy X-Prix de Uruguay, la fecha final de 2022. Junto a Price lograron sostener la cuarta posición del campeonato para Ganassi y la audición parece haber sido buena ya que el estadounidense de 30 años ha conseguido el papel a tiempo completo. Anderson tiene mucha experiencia en el off-road con dos victorias en la Baja 1000 y casi 150 podios conseguidos en diferentes carreras todo-terreno.

La acción de la Extreme E comenzará en Arabia Saudita para el Desert X-Prix en Neom el próximo 11 y 12 de marzo.

White Bird Trailer

Grandmére tells him of her childhood growing up in Nazi-occupied France and the schoolmate who risked everything to help her survive and how compassion, courage, and empathy can make all the difference in the world.

Lionsgate’s White Bird is based on the the novel White Bird: A Wonder Story by R.J. Palacio. The film stars Helen Mirren, Gillian Anderson, Bryce Gheisar, Ariella Glaser, and Orlando Schwerdt. Marc Forster directs.

White Bird releases to theaters on August 25, 2023.

Hello! I am a big fan of your books (especially Miss Sharp and Miss Dark), and I'm SUPER excited for the upcoming book signing. On that topic, I have a question. I know that, for at least some of the authors, we can't buy books day-of; we have to preorder or special order them. Is that true for all the authors? Or will some of y'all have books available to buy the day of the event? And, if there is a difference, do you happen to know who will have books available for day-of purchase and who won't? (I know W.R. Gingell has said she won't, but I'm uncertain about you and the other authors.)

(Oh, and a side note — this event is what convinced me to finally read Echo North, and it is SO GOOD, so THANK YOU.)

Extreme E: RJ Anderson reemplazará a Kyle LeDuc en el auto de GMC Hummer Chip Ganassi Racing para el Energy X-Prix de Uruguay

Un conflicto de calendario verá a Kyle LeDuc perderse la última fecha del campeonato de Extreme E en Uruguay, lo que ha obligado a Chip Ganassi Racing a buscar rápidamente un reemplazante. El piloto estadounidense de 29 años, RJ Anderson ha sido llamado a ser compañero de Sara Price en una ronda donde el equipo GMC Hummer EV Chip Ganassi Racing mantiene una mínima opción al título y ocupa la cuarta posición del campeonato.

Anderson es un bicampeón de la Baja 1000 y tiene dos títulos en la Lucas Oil Off Road Series (LOORS), ganó el Crandon World Championship y también tiene títulos en UTV. En ese sentido tiene bastante experiencia off-road para poder competir de la mejor forma en Uruguay, aunque Ganassi sin dudas echará de menos el agresivo estilo de LeDuc.

"Es un honor correr para Chip Ganassi Racing y conduir el GMC HUMMER EV en Uruguay para la ronda final de la segunda temporada de Extreme E. He estado siguiendo Extreme E desde sus inicios y estoy emocionado de alinearme con una lista de pilotos de clase mundial. El equipo ha hecho un gran trabajo durante toda la temporada y no puedo esperar a correr junto a Sara para el final de la temporada" declaró RJ Anderson en la previa de su debut a finales de noviembre en Uruguay.

"Es una pena que Kyle no pueda llegar a esta carrera, pero estoy deseando formar equipo con RJ Anderson, mi viejo amigo y compañero de carreras de of-road" complementó Sara Price. "Nuestro equipo está trabajando duro para ayudarlo a aprender los trucos de las carreras de Extreme E, y nuestro objetivo es terminar la temporada con un fuerte resultado en lo más alto del podio".

El Energy X-Prix se disputará entre el 26 y 27 de noviembre en Punta del Este, Uruguay.

I am all admiration at your persistence in continuing to read this biography, because wow, that author is truly odious! I can only imagine that since all the women being described are dead his editor thought it didn’t matter how rude and supercilious the author was in describing them, but good heavens, did no one ever consider that it might matter to the readers?

At this point, I'm more hate-reading/-skimming than anything. There has been some potentially interesting information here and there. For instance, I'd like to know more about Princess Alice's work with nursing and other causes.

I am indeed very surprised that a book published in 1998, which wasn't so very long ago, was permitted to take such an unprofessional, unscholarly tone. This is a biography that would be of particular interest to female readers; why was it necessary to treat its female subjects with such disdain? It goes beyond merely acknowledging character flaws to attacking them, often in ways that are specific to their femininity. The digs at appearance. Use of terms like "hysterical," "hormonal," "emotional" in connection with powerful women. The biographer often shows more sympathy for or lenience to the husbands, fathers, and sons--not that they don't deserve it, but there seems to be a double standard. A historian ought to have more integrity than that.

If anything, what I am getting out of this text is a lesson in how we as a society evaluate women. These were living, breathing individuals. They had emotions and interests and dreams and loved ones and opinions and joys and struggles. As royal women, these princesses in many ways had a very experience of the world than most people, but they were still human. I was hoping for a glimpse into their life experience, a chance to walk in their shoes for a little while. Most of what I'm getting is this one random man's disdain for looks and personalities that he finds unappealing. These women were judged severely in their own day, often by their own family members. They had little, if any, control over their own lives and circumstances. Can we not offer their memory the understanding they were often denied? Can we not extend the basic sympathy we might wish for ourselves if we had the misfortune to be born into such public lives?

The book in question is Victoria's Daughters by Jerrold M. Packard. The Goodreads reviews indicate I'm not the only one who was unimpressed.
