MAJOR SPOILERS!!!

The loud noise of gunshots echo through his mind, and it feels like the bullets are puncturing his skin, despite him not being there. Physically, he was fine. But mentally? It felt worse than getting shot at. It felt like he was getting stabbed multiple times. He wanted it to stop. Why did he decide to join? Why? If he didn’t, then he wouldn’t have seen all of this. When he was young, the thought of being on the battle grounds excited him. Though, after entering the military, he soon realized how wrong he was. He knew it would be hard, though he didn’t know how horrible it would be.

He remembers Soren’s kind voice, helping him through hard times. It felt like hell, knowing he’d never hear it again. Even worse, it would be his fault. He should’ve saved him, somehow. The guilt weighed heavy on the man’s heart, knowing he didn’t just allow his death to happen, but used the death to survive. Disgusting. Why didn’t he let himself die? That’s what he deserved. He was a disgusting cannibal, one who ate his friend.

He had to stop feeling this way, even if it was selfish to try and escape his punishment. He stares down at the pills he held, wanting to float into the world of bliss. Desperate to stop feeling this way, he downs the pills. ’Please, just let me float in bliss forever,' he thinks desperately, tears stream down his cheeks, as he shakes at the memory. He felt so disgusting. So horrible. An irredeemable monster.

Maybe he didn’t deserve to die. Maybe he deserved to live and suffer. He let his friend die. He let Soren die. Soren would’ve lived if he wasn’t such a terrible friend. Soren could be living happily right now. It was all of his fault. It was eating him alive, swallowing him into a dark abyss that he’d never escape from. Never.
