‘Seizure’ an entire apartment covered in beautiful blue Copper Sulphate crystals. By Roger Hiorn

Created by the artist pouring 75000 litres of Copper Sulphate solution into an abandoned London flat, the crystals were left to form on all the surfaces including the bath.

it started out as a joke but now i'm like. fuck. maybe i do wanna teach art. not at my dinky school but some prestigious US art college like. SCAD or something. like, i got a degree from csm, bitch. i'm qualified. i just wanna tell the kids about chris burden and pipilotti rist and roger hiorns and how bullshit damien hirst is but some of his stuff is actually legit and fucks but the other half kind of sucks and that's art for you babey. i wanna take the kids on a day trip to see an ai weiwei and then talk about it and then give them a ridiculous absurd assignment that has nothing to do with it whatsoever. yeah. fuck it i love art so much. i'd fuse it with music and film though because i'd wanna teach them to get interdisciplinary with it, and not just limit themselves to the small world of "art". i'll do what i wish my tutors did for me and allow them to do any whatfucksoever and make it count as the assignment because art should never be constricted to narrow little boxes like "short film" "stop motion" or "video art". it's so much broader than that. there is so much more.

Seizure by Roger Hiorns

In 2008 Roger Hiorns, commissioned by Artangel and the Jerwood Charitable Foundation, transformed an empty council flat in Southwark, London, into a sparkling blue environment of copper sulphate crystals. Seizure was created using 75,000 litres of liquid copper sulphate, which was pumped into the former council flat to create a strangely beautiful and somewhat menacing crystalline growth on the walls, floor, ceiling and bath of the abandoned dwelling.

This building was going to be demolished which gave roger the opportunity to test this experiment out. He then created this master piece which has now been extracted from the flat and into a museum for more viewings. This is a really gorgeous piece of work and how you can create amazing art from natural chemicals and causes. This shows that nature can be really strong and powerful.

This gives me different ideas on what I could create in my own work and gives me ideas on how I could create a fantasy magical world.
