🌷Year 16 - Spring 2 - Rogers🌷

Year 16 at the Rogers household began with Hazel helping Lance with his homework while Mason climbed into his carpool to the mainland. He'd had a few days off now and his constituents were starting to wonder where he was so he needed to get back into the swing of things!

Once Lance was at school (with his completed homework), Hazel spent most of the morning trying to coax Darcy into saying 'Mama'. She was unsuccessful.

"Oh well, we'll try again tomorrow. Come on, little one, time for a nap!"

Hazel's workbench was now over at her market stall, so she couldn't do much to earn money for the household while she needed to care for Darcy. Instead, she spent Darcy's nap time on her tablet improving her sales badge.

Mason came back from work a bit disgruntled. He hadn't earned a promotion in years now, and he was starting to realise he lacked the necessary skills. He plonked himself down in front of the chess set, determined to improve his Logic once and for all.

That night, he got Darcy fully walking, fulfilling a want for both of them, and he even got credit for finally getting her potty trained (even though Hazel has put in most of the work there)! That lifted his mood and he was hopeful that this, combined with his higher skills, would stand him in good stead for a promotion when he returned to work the next day.

I’ve seen men wear those before.” Steve nods, lifts his hand to his dog tags. “On the boat?” he asks, rubbing the metal between his fingers. The man tilts his head and blinks at Steve, a slightly sad twist to his mouth. “No, Steven. On the bottom of the ocean.”

Specs: Mini binding approx. 30 x 40mm and an A7 square back bradel. Matching marbled patterned endpapers and endbands, star cutout, and gold edges on the A7.

An enthralling mermaid au from @dreamsinthewitchouse that I haven’t been able to stop thinking about since I first read it. Such an intriguing and mesmerizing take on these two and their fate!

On the process: Kicking off Binderary with a tiny book that I bound during @renegadepublishing’s mini bind along! I’m quite pleased with how it turned out, especially how the cutout peeks into the marbled endpapers. I can’t emphasize how tiny and cute this book is.

Originally I only wanted to do the mini binding for this fic, but I couldn’t help myself and bound an accompanying regular sized version. Somehow the cutout was much easier on the tiny book, but I did like coloring the edges gold for the bigger version.

As Lance rushed for the school bus, Hazel completed Darcy's final toddler skill with her. She was now a fully walking, talking potty trained toddler!

Mason came home that afternoon with a promotion to Judge! That unlocks the Law career for Sims with a Political Science, History or Literature degree. Congratulations, Mason!

He received some more good news when he answered the ringing phone - they'd won the lottery! The Rogers family were being paid §250,000! He was stunned (as was I - thanks ROS!)

He called his family to the lounge and shared the good news. He wanted their advice on how to spend it.

"Obviously we can't just save it, we've got to use it. Shall we move to a bigger house?" he asked.

Hazel smiled gently. "That would be lovely, darling, but don't you think the funds could be put to better use for building up the island? We could use somewhere for the kids to play, and maybe a sports field, and I know the settlement has been talking about expanding and hopefully moving Squidge's urn somewhere so they don't have to be scared every night. Plus, soon enough you'll need to build a town hall... think about all the good that money could do here!"

Mason knew that, as usual, his wife was right. He decided to call some contractors in the morning.

So they ended the year peacefully getting on with their own things, secure in the knowledge that they were §250,000 richer and the island was soon going to see an influx of new expansions!

The team getaway was not supposed to get snowed out. Someone forgot to check the weather (did anyone else check? no) and now they were all cramped in a small cabin. Because someone else also booked the wrong thing. All thanks to Clint.

"How was I supposed to know," Clint defended, dragging a suitcase through the thick snow. It popped open suddenly and all the clothes spilled out like a Looney Tune cartoon. "Aw shit. I hope that wasn't mine..." Natasha sighed as Lucky the dog zoomed past. It was hers.

"You could wear some of mine," Steve told Natasha an hour later. His hand grazed her left hip fondly, padding across the bedroom. They called dips first. "In the meantime, I'm gonna go grab more firewood. Tell Buck I'll be back in a half hour." Natasha murmured a quiet, "Always keeping you boys straight." She smiled. "Thanks. I'll pick something out."

Exactly half an hour later, warm clothes acquired, Bucky entered the living area with snow covering his shoulders. "That idiot wanted to pick a fight with a bear," Bucky grumbled, brushing excess snow off of his sweater. Steve walked in behind him right then, cheeks light red.

"I would've had 'em on the ropes."

"Sure, pal. Then we'd all be tending to your wounds. And guess who would have to clean up your blood?"

Natasha smirked from her comfy seat on the sofa. These boys. They were idiots. But they were her idiots.

"Hey, I intervened for a reason. If it wasn't for me you would've—" Bucky's eyes narrowed, lips pursed. "Is that my underwear?"

Beside Natasha, Clint went still. His hand was shoved in a bag of chips, while a doe-eyed Lucky sat and stared at his feet.

"Maybe. Who's asking?"

"Natalia," Bucky said, voice going soft, that velvety tone that makes Natasha shiver. "Did you go through my suitcase?"

Natasha winked.

"Why does it... have a..." Clint trailed off as he gestured with his hand. The one that wasn't covered in cheese dust. "Hole for a dick?"

Oh, the pun. That was terrible. Even for Clint.

Steve's blush darkened when his gaze landed on the detail in question. God, he was cute.

The underwear was rather odd. They were boxer briefs, and while the material wasn't exactly high quality, there was a long 'shieth' supposedly made for a, well, dick to fit inside. Natasha wasn't exactly sure why Bucky owned these but seeing that the team often engaged in pranks and such...

"Uh," Steve coughed falsely. He rubbed the back of his neck. "Yeah. Why does it, Buck?"

Bucky poked Steve in the side playfully. "'Cause I received the wrong order, genius."

"Next question," Natasha said, clicking her tongue. "Why did you bring it?" Bucky's lips curled. "To see if it fit."

Clint covered both hands over his ears while Steve continued to blush like a cherry.
