One Piece Crack Ship War - Round 1 Side C
Tumblr media Tumblr media
'Pepsi shipping' art by @orange-artist
Propaganda under the cut.
Foxy Grandpa: After submitting my previous ship, I thought of the ship name, thought, "Oh that's cursed", and therefore had to inflict the curse unto others. God please let this get eliminated round 1. The world is a cruel and unfeeling place if it allows this to exist as a thought in human minds for longer than the bare minimum amount of time.
Pepsi shipping: Daddy issues + fun hair colors + she'd sing and he'd play guitar + Sanji would cry.

Just wanted to thank everyone who voted for Sho-Dan in @onepiece-polls 's crack ship tourney! Even in the final minutes of the poll, I never thought we'd win. The support and validation I've gotten for this ship has been so wonderful. I've felt like a lone goofball for years about this, I'm happy the potential compatibility makes sense to others!
Also wanted give a shout out to Smoking Kills shippers, wish I had thought of a name as cool as that when submitting, and the propaganda was very convincing!
And thank you onepiece-polls for hosting the event! I appreciate you giving niche fandom pairings the spotlight!
I hope everyone has a fun time with this tourney! 💜🧡

💙: cody/kix
hiiii ❤️
💙 drunken kiss / tipsy // instead of being found during the sequel era, kix is found by cody and cody's pirate crew ten years after the end of the war. everyone is dead or worse except them (or so they think)
---
Kix stumbles back from the shadows, still struggling with the zipper of his pants, and starts making his way back to the fires up on the beach. The sand is damp under his bare feet, and the breeze that rolls in from the sea makes him shiver, and the ground seems to shift and swell under him, the crew’s cheap spotchka sloshing in his belly.
Cody’s pirates are a noisy bunch. Kix can hear them singing and laughing despite the noise of the waves crashing against the shore, despite the noise of his own heartbeat in his temples. Someone dragged a holoplayer from the ship, and now they are dancing to a song that Kix remembers from the war, in pairs and groups or all alone, bottle in one hand and face turned up to the starry sky.
Cody isn’t there. Kix turns on his heel, his limbs heavy with drink, blinking stupidly in the lack of light. He can see the ship, huge and ugly and terrifying even in the distance, and he can see the crew, and that’s about it. Kix sighs. He knows it’s a bad idea even before he makes himself start walking.
His memories of the man who used to be the 212th’s commander are a brittle, cracking thing. That Cody is always at Rex’s side, watching him and smiling at him and stealing his drinks, his hand on Rex’s shoulder or hooked in Rex’s belt, but only when he thinks no one is watching. He is a good officer and a right bastard, and Kix trusts him but isn’t quite sure if he likes him.
The last time they spent time together was during that op on Skako Minor—Kix escorted him back to base camp, trying his best to keep him alive, mostly for Rex’s sake, and then that was that.
Sometimes Kix feels like a piece fo shit for not feeling more grateful, for not being kinder to the man who found him on that Seppie shuttle, but then he actually interacts with the bastard and he gets over it.
He finds Cody alone, as Kix knew he’d be. He treats his crew the same way he used to treat his officers—he’d die for them, but that doesn’t mean he is that interested in sharing a drink or his bed with any of them. Kix drops on the sand at his side with a grunt and starts rooting around his pocket for his smokes: Cody glances at him and back at the waves, his knees bent and his arms around them.
It’s been ten years, and he wears them well. He kind of looks like Kix vaguely remembers Prime looking one of the very few times he saw him, thicker around the shoulders and the torso than he used to be. His hair is still dark, and he wears it shorter than he used to, and there’s a scar on his chin that wasn’t there the last time Kix saw him.
He looks like the future.
It’s too windy. Kix curses under his breath and twists and turns on the sand, fighting his numb fingers and his lighter. The first taste of smoke sinks into his chest and calms the vague sense of anxiety he didn’t even know he was feeling, and Kix exhales, leaning in his free hand, legs stretched out in front of him towards the sea.
Cody’s watching him: Kix can sense the weight of Cody’s stare on the side of his face, and he doesn’t even have to look at Cody to know the way his lips will be pressed together.
The thing about Cody is that while he’s glad he found Kix, a part of him can’t help but hate that he’s not someone else.
(A part of Kix hates that he was found at all.)
“Kix.” His voice has changed. It’s lower, rougher. Too many years roaring orders and inhaling battlefield fumes.
“Hm?” Kix flicks the butt of his cigarette and turns to look at Cody.
His hand is warm and dry on Kix’s face. He tastes of the same cheap liquor they’ve all been drinking for hours, and Kix finds himself trying his best to chase it back into his mouth, Cody’s hand hot like brand and now cradling his jaw, his nose cold against Kix’s cheek.
It’s too much and not enough. Kix turns his face away, because he can’t breathe and he’s dropped his smoke and this is not what he wanted. He’s glad when Cody doesn’t let go.

Cybertronian Liminal spaces ideas: TFP
Tunnels (thru Mts, under cities, etc.)
Red Sand Deserts (Rust Sea Similarities)
Large Scale Industrial Sectors (Think big, automated assembly lines; Similar to their factories)
I also feel like truly gigantic cities (Lots of skyscrapers; similar to their cityscapes) would be similar enough to evoke a sense of nostalgia.
Cybertronian Specific Places:
OP - Libraries (the bigger the more nostalgic he gets) and Rome, b/c of the Collusium (I imagine it reminds him of Kaons Arena)
Megs - Rome (Same as OP), Empty Mines, and ruined Forts (even tho their forts 100% looked different, our ruins still give the same effect)
Ratch - Colleges (Academy Days, specifically the long, winding trails from one building to another), Hospital Corridors (If he has a holoform) and Oddly enough, Victorian Houses. Old and creaky, reminiscent of an old era.
Star - The Buj Kalifa (Vosian Remenicent). Sometimes Specific weather patterns, like Hailstorms or Freezing Rain, remind him of the stinging Acid rain of Cybertron. He hates Blizzards too.
Bulk - Construction sites get him. Rome as well (architecture in general, really).
Sounders - Rome, Government Buildings (specifically, the twisting hallways some important buildings have) and castles/forts.
Arcee - Tunnels, Ravines (I imagine she hid a lot on cybertron, cracks in cybs exoplates would be similar to ravines), and old houses (dilapidated buildings, slowly rotting away; similar to one specific spider incident.
KO - Raceways (obv), but also airports (hanger bays specifically) and large scale paint factories. Also, Buj Kalifa (HC that KO is a Grounded Seeker, explaining SS comment in TFP). Maybe medical tents as well? He was a front line medic after all.
Bee - Rocky mountain roads (scouting), ruins like Stonehenge, and ghost towns. Places where life has been destroyed. Also, war ravaged cities and mysterious old paths through the trees.
BD - Similar to Bulk, but add Mines and industrial buildings too.
Smokey - Libraries (not to the same extent as OP tho), old ruins, and abandoned junkyards (similar effect to the transport ship) I also HC that the escape pod made him pretty Claustrophobic. So small spaces are a no go.
Shockers - Labs, research buildings, but also government buildings (Senator days) and hospitals (too pristine/white a room; he slightly panics) HC that Shockers hates the color white with a dying passion.
Jackie - Labs as well, but also hanger bays and random bars get him too. (HC that he basically found Seaspray in a galactic bar.)
Dread/Quake - Old English/French architecture and Rome
Mags - Government buildings, Libraries (somewhat), but mainly offices and conference rooms get this guy.
Arachnid - Dug out Tunnels (insecticon hives), fancy buildings (Senete esch enough; similar to all her targets homes), and out-of-the-way villages (similar to other organic planets easiest targets)
I think that basically everyone (everyone important I think? Cliffs dead so I didn't include him lol).
HOOOOLY FUCK man you put a LOT of thought into this, this is so cool. The bit about lifeless or decayed places igniting that kinda nostalgia in Bee is actually really sad if you think about it.
Man now I wanna see an episode where a relic is found near the remains of the colosseum, and it has a lot of bots on edge.
I feel like the cities with big reflective or iridescent skyscrapers are spot on, especially in the flashbacks. To add to city scenes, in the flashbacks they had huge streets and ramps and freeways that looked a lot like ours too! (Unless I’m remembering wrong and I’m just nuts)

The Crack Quartet Timeline BC I'm sleep deprived and obsessed. Some housekeeping before we get into it:
For those unaware, the canon crack quartet, as @raayllum and I like to refer to them, is rayllum and the following insane trio of ships: claudiez, sorpeli, and corterry
You read that correctly
I got dragged onto this boat unwillingly so now all of you have to suffer too.
These are my hcs and I've already written some of it into fic (linked for convenience). Some of these @raayllum and I share but they also have their own separate ones and these are specific to what I've written already
It's important to note that the crack quartet can only ever take place 10-15 years from the end of canon. Everyone involved by this point is a fully consenting adult. Please keep this disclaimer in mind before you all start coming at me.
Now that that's out of the way
Some of you may have read the seed, so you may know already that I hc Soren and Corvus to be pretty steady at least until the end of the war, where the trauma is too heavy for both of them to be healthy about it. Soren ends the relationship and Corvus informally leaves the council. He's always preferred the serenity of the forest to the hustle and bustle of the castle anyway, and he returns every now and then to give Ezran reports about how things are going among the surrounding towns. It's on one of these journeys that he meets Terry, and their passing knowledge of each other is what gets them talking over a drink in a tavern. Corvus is doing his job and listening for gossip. Terry wants know if he's heard anything about Claudia. All the drama aside, it's nice to see a familiar face and to talk about old times.
In Katolis, Ez and Rayla bully Opeli into taking self defence lessons with Soren after she insists Ez keeps up his swordfighting lessons when she herself has never touched a weapon in her life. If you haven't already read the seed, this is how sorpeli starts. Soren and Opeli have been p good friends for years now, and he has never considered her a mother figure the same way Callum and Ezran might have. He was essentially an adult when everything started so he hasn't ever really needed that guidance, but he's always had a ton of respect for her too. He is 24/25ish when he realises he's caught feelings. He asks her to dance at Callum and Rayla's wedding. He starts having tea with her in the mornings and walking with her to Temple Hill (ia163a)
Claudia tries to leave but the other medics beg her not to. They need her help and her knowledge of medicinal herbs and potions. There's no one to replace her. She stays for a little longer, intending to leave the following week when a cart arrives bearing equipment and support and the king's seal. There is also a letter addressed to Lissa. In it, Ez promises her that her secret is safe, and that she will always have a home in the castle if she wants it.
The month before Callum and Rayla's wedding, the kids are called away to a skirmish in a little town near the border. Ez goes for a wander through town to assess damage and how much they'll need in funds to repair everything when he finds a small clinic that desperately needs financial support. This is where he finds Claudia. She is tending to the medicinal herbs in the garden when he rides past. She's been going from town to town trying to make up for all the trouble she caused by assisting in their clinics and apothecaries under the name Lissa. Ez recognises her immediately. He knows he should tell the others. He does not. He is 14/15.
Callum, snake boi that he is, is Not Having It. Claudia is thrown into a cell on arrival and he insists on exiling her as a minimum but Ezran, who's been in contact this whole time, knows she's been trying to make amends for her mistakes. He demands a trial on her behalf. Soren agrees. Opeli, as a stand in for Justice, argues that a trial is the fair thing to do. Rayla looks at Ezran, realises something else is going on, and agrees that a trial is the better way to go. The sentence her to service within the castle. Callum is Not Happy about it. (ia165)
For a while, everything is fine. Callum and Rayla get married, and castle life is pretty stable in amongst the political squabbles and the trips to quell conflicts in the surrounding towns. Soren hangs out with Opeli pretty regularly. Ez is writing letters to Claudia and personally funding the clinic she works at. Callum and Rayla start trying for a baby. Rayla falls pregnant three years after their wedding. She is 20ish weeks along when Claudia comes home.
This is one of the biggest disagreements Ez and Callum ever have. Rayla does her best to placate them both but she is also pregnant and doesn't want to deal with it. Frustrated that his brother won't trust his decision making and keeps treating him like a child, Ez spends more and more time with Claudia, who trusts him and treats him like an adult, until they're courting in all but name. Callum HATES this but reigns it in for Rayla's sake who's stressed enough. She goes into labour at the end of that summer and suffers a post partum haemorrhage so bad that the only thing that can fix it is Claudia's knowledge of Xadian herbs. The midwives kick Callum out of the room to let Claudia in and Ezran lets them. Rayla and the baby are both fine thanks to Claudia but Callum is FURIOUS with Ezran for allowing it to happen.
Opeli miscarries. She collapses during a council meeting, and it all comes out while the castle doctor and Claudia are attending to her. Callum and Ezran realise how stupid they've been because of the way they hadn't even noticed and they are speaking to each other again by the time Opeli is in recovery. Callum accepts Ezran and Claudia's courtship and does his best to process both this and Soren and Opeli (ia164) and things settle down again for a little while. Opeli resigns from her post as High Cleric and attempts to do the same from the council but Ez refuses her resignation and keeps her on informally. Soren and Opeli are married in a quiet ceremony. Opeli finds herself pregnant again six months later.
They're so caught up in the drama that no one notices Soren and Opeli having drama of their own. They are now having secret, hurried meetings in each other's quarters, knowing how absolutely Forbidden it is, especially for Opeli, both because of her age and her position as High Cleric, but they can't stay away from each other until Opeli starts throwing up in the mornings and she breaks it off in her panic. Rayla is the only one who notices and goes investigating. She is the only one Opeli allows to know of the situation. Rayla goes to Claudia to find the appropriate herbs to help Opeli with her Dilemma, and Claudia figures it out on her own 1) because she knows her brother, and 2) she's not an idiot. Rayla takes the opportunity to thank her properly for saving her life and their friendship begins here, while the boys are still at odds with each other. Opeli does not take the herbs in the end. (the fruit)
Viren returns to the castle that same year. It's Claudia's return all over again: Callum demands he be executed on the spot. Ezran wants to give him a trial. Claudia begs them not to kill him through her courtship with Ezran, her relationship with Soren, and her friendship with Rayla. Soren votes no, for himself and for Claudia. Rayla votes yes because, tentative friendship with Claudia aside, she can't trust Viren, especially not with her and Callum's little one running around. Ezran votes no because he wants to be a better king. Clio, the new High Cleric, Opeli's old 2IC, votes yes as the stand in for LJ. Barius, too soft hearted, votes no. Opeli is the deciding vote. She also votes no and all hell breaks loose all over again. (the snake).
Anyway, this is where we're up to. Obviously there will be more as I update the snake but I don't wanna give anything away BC hooo boy that drama is a doozy. I know, okay, these ships are Insane but the extrapolation you can do is just so Delicious and the drama is absolutely *chef kiss*
Now with part 2: electric boogaloo

I LOVE your crocodad theory I'm an obsessed believer but did u ever get romantic vibes from crocodile & robin business relationship? Many people get lover vibes from them & I never understood why. They seem VERY strictly business/stab each other in the back relationship. (Plus crocodile is TERRIFYING).
I think Croco/Robin as a ship exists kind of like... out of circumstance? Kind of?
Quick disclaimer, I only got into OP in like 2008~ish at the age of 13, I can not comment what it as like being in the fandom before that because I wasn't there (and when OP began in 1997 I was like two whole years old). So whatever I say here doesn't come from like, a fandom veteran who knows the entire history of the OP fandom or anything. I'm just attempting to rub my braincells together here
Like in the year of our lord 2023 we have many wonderful Crocodile ships to classify as OTPs and NOTPs etc, but if we go back to like 2006 or so, long before the Summit War Saga was even a thing, try to think about what characters you would have shipped Crocodile with? Because for a long time, the only canon material Crocodile had appeared in was just the Alabasta Saga (+one brief cover story), and we don't really see Crocodile interact with that many characters during the story. Like. Really the only character Crocodile has multiple, extended interactions with aside from Luffy and Vivi is Robin. All the other characters he interacts with maybe once or twice for very brief scenes, so based on canon material alone, there isn't much for fuel for shipping purposes.
It really wasn't until Marineford when we finally started getting other characters to ship with Crocodile, mainly the Ever Loyal Daz who seems to be willing to follow Crocodile anywhere (romantic as fuck) and Doflamingo after he and Croc tried to kill each other twice at Marineford (people seem to love a tsundere Croc) And now with Cross Guild we also have Mihawk (and Buggy) as far as shipping options go. And of course there's MORE than just these ships, there's the more crack-leaning ships (like Dragodile and whatever you'd call the Cobra-ship) and some others (Jinbei, Whitebeard, Ivankov, Galdino, Luffy even) etc etc
The only difference is that Croco/Robin got to kind of be like, "the default Crocodile ship" for like 8 years without major competition. And because the ship has "history", even when new ships pop up the one that has been around the longest will still stick out. Not to mention, although we have options now, even those have very little canon material to actually work with when compared to Croco/Robin. Like Dofuwani exists because the two had like three whole pages worth of interactions, but compare that to the screentime Croc had with Robin? It's not even a competition
Not to mention, Croco/Robin is just. Like it's kind of the mandatory het ship. Like there aren't many straight options with canon material to work with, and there's gonna be people who really want to have a het ship with Crocodile if you know what I mean. But also, let's be real. There's a lot of straight women who're horny for Crocodile. Valid as fuck. And Croco/Robin could have like, a self-insert-y quality to it, like some people might be able to see themselves in Robin? Also valid. And that can apply to some straight men too, like I'm sure there's cishet men who look at Crocodile with that "god I wish that were me" energy, who love seeing Crocodile ship fanart with Robin, as they can project onto Crocodile etc. This is also valid. Point is that the ship appeals to cishets by simply being a het ship, but also it might make for an easy ship for a lot of straight people to project onto for one reason or another.
But to be fair, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that I think Croco/Robin has the potential to be a really interesting ship. Like they ARE the Baroque Works Boss Pair, literal partners in crime, the most powerful members of the secret criminal organization who run the whole operation, they worked together by themselves for four whole years, Crocodile protecting Robin by allowing her to hide under his wings. They were together, ready to take over an entire country and obtain a weapon of mass destruction And then Robin betrays him. And Crocodile admits he never trusted her to begin with.
Like on paper alone, this is great material for a juicy romance.
Especially now when we understand why Robin was on the run and why she feared being betrayed, and how looking back at Crocodile's reaction when Robin "reads" the Poneglyph for him, he genuinely seems a little sad about her betraying him (mystery trauma etc). This is a genuinely interesting character dynamic, like even without any romantic context I would love to see Crocodile and Robin meet again in the storyline and like, see what Crocodile thinks of Robin having joined the Strawhats vs what Robin thinks about Cross Guild, how the two might interact etc. They are interesting to me
Like personally, I agree, I don't think the two were actually ever romantically involved with each other (frankly I don't think Crocodile trusts anyone anymore enough to let them get close him like that, dude's been voluntarily celibate for like two decades lmao), their relationship was surely just business-only. And while the ship doesn't personally interest me (just kinda "meh" for me), I do understand why the ship appeals to others and why it's popular to this day
But yeah, I do think a lot of the reasons Croco/Robin is as popular as it is due to circumstance. It's been around the longest, it still arguably has the most canon material to work with, it appeals to lots of people. God knows shippers don't actually need the characters to like each other, otherwise people wouldn't be shipping Croc with Buggy as we speak

so there's an ongoing galactic-scale war between the Republic, the Sith Empire, and Mandalore, with the Jedi fighting on the front lines for the Republic following Chancellor Palpatine's (still Darth Sidious) increasingly nonsensical mandates, the Sith led by some shadowy Emperor (still Sidious) but day-to-day managed by a large and ever-shifting cast of Sith Lords, and Mandalore led by Mand'alor Jango Fett, who leads his people on the Republic front personally, and is supported by his seemingly endless supply of children and siblings and niblings and cousins
but something strange happens after Alpha 'Ventee' Fett, Jango's eldest son, and his squad get captured and tortured by Sith General Asajj Ventress alongside Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi and his crew of enlisted Republic soldiers
and as they're plotting their mutual escape, Boil, one of the Republic soldiers, complains about how they're constantly being ordered to throw their lives and those of their comrades away for no good reason, defying all strategic sense to obey the whims of the increasingly corrupt Senate
and Obi-Wan makes a crack about how the Republic hates the Jedi and their army in particular
as they part ways to return to their respective factions, Ventee skillfully leaves the Jedi with a way to contact his office, thinking that nothing will come of it but at least he took the chance to plant the seed
months go by, Kenobi back at the head of the Republic's war effort on the Sith front, but Ventee replaced by his younger brother, Ven'alor Cody Fett, as Ventee's injuries forced him to move into an advisory and training role back in Keldabe
then a strange comm left in Cody's office receives a shocking transmission
Kenobi and his entire crew want to defect
after verifying the source with Ventee, Cody starts to discreetly handle the planning and arrangements personally, knowing that this would be a huge win for Mandalore: stealing one of the top military and diplomatic strategists in the Republic along with one of their top special ops teams alone would be worth it, but Kenobi in particular is a Jedi known for his prowess against the Sith and their Force-use, which is an area that Mandalore has struggled to compete in the past
however, he's acutely aware that Mand'alor Fett, his father, has spent long enough on the Republic front to have developed an intense hatred for the Jedi, after having lost so many of his own troops to them
they keep the plan simple: Obi-Wan and his crew will get themselves assigned to the Sith front, and carefully drift too close to the shared border with Mandalorian space where they'll go dark and rendezvous with Cody and his own squad
but of course, Chancellor Palpatine, either having caught wind of Kenobi's treasonous views or just wanting him out of the way for the sake of his own (technically also treasonous) plotting, leaks Kenobi's flight plan for the mostly-legitimate part of their journey to Mandalore
where it gets the attention of none other than Mand'alor Jango Fett himself
the Mand'alor's forces manage to intercept the Republic ship and easily overwhelms them, at least partially because they had initially assumed that Cody had just sent them an escort or a messenger to tell them about a change of plans, and captures the entire crew, dragging them back to Manda'yaim as prisoners of war
at which point, Cody is alerted to this Major Victory Against the Republic by his Very Proud Buir
all Cody can do is keep his loud and drawn-out 'KRIFF' internal throughout the holo call
he and his crew hurry back to Keldabe, where Jango has been showing off his new prisoners in preparation for their very public execution, and manages to arrange a semi-private meeting with Kenobi, just him and his Lieutenant, Waxer, who he'd read in on the true situation
Obi-Wan is, of course, supremely pissed with him because he can only assume that Cody had played him for a fool, but Cody offers to let him out of the Force-suppressant cuffs if he promises to hear him out
so Obi-Wan calms down enough for them to discuss a new scheme together
Cody will request custody of the Jedi prisoner as a 'pet' to make an example of, a more permanent warning against Jedi involvement in the conflict against Mandalore
("There's no way the Mand'alor will buy that!" "Kenobi, you underestimate just how much he HATES jetiise.")
Obi-Wan will then serve as a very showy statement piece, present at public events and diplomatic meetings, while the rest of his crew will be allowed to quietly fade into the background of whatever Mandalore usually does with such prisoners
meanwhile, 'Ben' and his crew of 'new recruits' will stage a meteoric rise through the ranks of the Mandalorian military to become Cody's new specialist team and eventual second and command
(this results in so many dual-identity shenanigans as the two fall in love with each other)
(of course, most of the top brass can see straight through this deception, but pointedly ignore it because Cody and 'Ben' achieve spectacular results together)
((Jango, in mando'a: "that's an unusual acccent you've got there Ben, where are you from again?"
'Ben', also in mando'a: *sweats* Co-ncord Dawn?
Cody: *facepalms*))
(((Jango also eventually figures out what's going on, but lets it continue mostly because he enjoys watching his son and his partner scramble to maintain the pretense)))

One Piece Crack Ship War - Round 1 Side A
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sho-Dan art by @shepherd-bones. Check out the full post here.
Propaganda under the cut.
Sho-Dan: Issho is based on Ichi from the Zatoichi series, so in my mind it made sense that he would've been a wandering swordsman in his youth, maybe running into Dadan during his travels. I think they'd be perfect for each other because I think their personalities are complimentary- Issho is intimidating and powerful but very kind, whereas Dadan is tough and cowardly yet has a secret sweet heart. I think they're both misunderstood characters that have lead lives absent of love, and I think they could find that in each other.
Smoking Kills: Why was Caesar so vindictive when he thought he was stabbing Smoker’s heart? Sure, his plans are crumbling around him, but is that really Smoker’s fault? Law orchestrated everything, Luffy beat him senseless, and Chopper was rehabilitating the kids. Did he just want a victory? Or was it because it was Smoker? What happened before everything? He knew about Smoker. Did he envy his freedom? Sympathize with how he felt ineffective to change anything? Did he feel he wasn’t strong enough to deserve Smoker, and thus put everything into developing his weaponry? It was only when Smoker was right there with him did he learn that Smoker hated what he was doing. He tried not to dwell on it. Vergo could fill the void, right? …no. It wasn’t the same. As he thought his fate was sealed, he made one more choice. If he couldn’t have Smoker in life, then Smoker would await Caesar in death…but for naught. Smoker was alive….and a small part of Caesar felt relief.

Hello! I saw the caption "night elf secession au go brr" and desperately want to know more. If you don't have a post somewhere I didn't see (sorry if I missed it) would you feel up to sharing at some point?
I don’t already have a full post about it anywhere because I’m constantly in the process of adding finer details. I made an “adjusted timeline” post on my deathbydarkelves sideblog a while ago, but that’s old by now and I’ve changed some things around. Even so, I will not lie, I have been WAITING for someone to ask me about it >:) so *cracks my knuckles* guess it’s time to make that post.
(GIGANTIC info dump incoming)
The basic things to know about this AU are 1.) Shadowlands never happens (my dislike of SL was actually what inspired me to make this AU in the first place), and 2.) the timeline is stretched out so things happen at a slightly more reasonable pace. In the canon timeline, all of the expansions (minus Dragonflight ofc) happen right after each other and each take place over 1-2 years, which is silly in my opinion. I did leave some of them alone length-wise, sometimes 1-2 years is fine, but almost all of the expansions now have a few years in between. Breathing room is good to have if you ask me. Oh also the N’Zoth/Azshara stuff doesn’t happen during the Fourth War, that’ll happen somewhere later down the line. But that’s not the main point…
Everything up until the middle/end of the Fourth War is pretty much the same, except for the aforementioned lengthening of the timeline. Teldrassil happens in 45 ADP, whereas in the game it’s 33 ADP, for example. So Teldrassil burns, the war happens in basically the same way it does in canon, and it ends with the mak’gora outside Orgrimmar (in 47 ADP). Then the actual changes begin.
Maiev joins Tyrande to track down Sylvanas, and Malfurion takes Tyrande’s place as a temporary leader for the night elves (aided by Shandris). Then for 5 or 6 years, really not much happens. Things are… fine on Kalimdor. Mt. Hyjal sorta becomes the new population center for the night elves (and handful of worgen) who stayed, and rebuilding efforts are definitely underway. But they don’t have the resources or the ships to bring all the refugees back. A portal that could support that many people would be far too demanding and risky to use.
(Note: I changed how portals work slightly to make them less OP, and in a nutshell, you can only make portals at specific points on Azeroth, specifically where natural ley lines connect. If you want a bigger portal, or one independent from ley lines, you either need an outside power source (see: the Dark Portal) or you need to be on top of a gigantic web of interconnecting ley lines. Some places have more ley lines than others (example: Suramar). Also it takes a lot of a mage’s energy to keep a portal of any size open for very long. They opened portals to Stormwind during the burning of Teldrassil, but only because it was such a bad situation; portals that go across such a long distance are very unstable and very expensive to both conjure and maintain. They also could only create them in specific places, which is why they couldn't get nearly as many people out as they would've liked :c)
So, with no way to bring them back, the refugees have just got to stay in Stormwind City and Elwynn. It’s rough; very few of the night elves speak Human (I renamed Common because I don’t like the undertones with that name), and the Stormwind government is being pretty laissez-faire about the whole thing. They have to worry about helping Kul Tiras and Stromgarde so they can rebuild, after all :) Building new ships and collecting all the supplies for the months-long voyage to Kalimdor is too expensive, the government says. But it'll happen, definitely, don't worry. It'll definitely happen. Eventually.
So night elf-Alliance relations decay. Stormwindians are tired of having homeless elves on their streets, the elves are tired of being homeless. There’s he-said-she-said stories of humble, hard-working humans being robbed at night by elves on the brink of starvation, and there are she-said-he-said stories of humans setting fire to tents on the edges of their property to scare off humble, hard-working elves just trying to find a place to live. In not so many words: animosity grows. This isn’t out of the blue; historically (even in canon), the other races of the Alliance haven’t really done much for the night elves except for when they helped push the orcs out of Ashenvale all the way back during the Third War (which was 30 years ago at this point). They’ve really just used them for an extra source of soldiers. The “deterrence from Horde attack” benefit the night elves were promised back then was proven false with Teldrassil, and that’s not to speak of smaller skirmishes that had happened every now and then even before the Fourth War. If anything, being part of the Alliance made the night elves a target. Sylvanas burned Teldrassil to provoke the Alliance into a war (note: I am still working on her exact motivations, since I deleted the Jailer and that weird thing with Elune because um??? no?????). Logically, if they hadn’t been a part of the Alliance, they would’ve probably been left alone. And that’s the realization Tyrande comes to, after tracking Sylvanas down in Northrend — where she and her closest followers had decided to hide out until things calmed down — and killing her.
Then she and Maiev return from their 6 or 7 year-long journey, and Tyrande is outraged at the way her people have been treated. Malfurion had also been made aware in the intervening time, and he’d started showing the Alliance that even though he didn’t have as much executive power as Tyrande, he could still rock the boat as it were. After the requests he made directly of Anduin and other Alliance leaders to give the refugees at least, like, a little support were either half-fulfilled or not at all, he basically starts a mild trade war. This was a pretty controversial move even among the night elves, but there wasn’t much else he could do. But during the Long Vigil, the night elves had perfected the art of being self-sufficient, and it definitely hurt the Eastern Kingdoms more than it hurt them. So with that set into motion, and Tyrande’s mind made up, she returns to her place as High Priestess and diverts every available resource into finally bringing the refugees home. It’s a very slow process, and relations continue to decay as it happens. But eventually everyone who wants to go back to Kalimdor does. A portion of worgen stay, and even some night elves who had their own reasons. But the majority do go back.
Then, after negotiating borders with the (now much more diplomatic) Horde, Tyrande cuts off ties with the Alliance. Relations had been iffy at best ever since they joined — their alliance had been built on “enemy of my enemy”, after all — but the other nations showed their true colors during and after the Fourth War. The Alliance’s High King himself had failed to send troops to help reclaim Darkshore when he had very clearly shown he was more than willing to send soldiers to Arathi, Lordaeron, and Kul Tiras. And again, the whole “if we hadn’t been a part of the Alliance, Sylvanas wouldn’t have seen us as a target” thing. So, with Darkshore, Moonglade, Winterspring, Felwood, Mount Hyjal, most of Ashenvale, and portions of Stonetalon now within their control again, the night elves settle into another period of isolation. It’s not quite a second Long Vigil — there’s some trade/interaction with the draenei (due to proximity and shared trauma) and tauren (due to shared values) — but all in all, they’re on their own now. Relations with the Horde aren’t good per se, but both sides are willing to agree on a “if you don’t fuck with us, we won’t fuck with you” policy. They both want to avoid anything like Teldrassil ever happening again, and that’s ultimately what allows northern Kalimdor to exist in relative peace.
I don’t have quite so many details decided after this point, but I do still have a general idea. Dragonflight happens about ten or fifteen years-ish after the night elves secede, and since they’re still keeping an eye on the other factions and the world in general with magic, spies, and magic spies, they decide to send their own expedition to the Dragon Isles. They keep to their own, and any accidental interactions with Alliance adventurers are tense at best. We’ll have to see how this expansion plays out, but I intend on using the dragons (specifically the Aspects) to fix the sword in Silithus somehow. It’s definitely still a big problem, and it’s been causing climate change-like effects this entire time (unpredictable and extreme weather events globally) as well as its own unique, “fun” issues (weird tectonic anomalies, the elements are extremely agitated, and azerite is still a thing people fight over). I actually already had the “elements are cranky” idea before that was revealed to be a thing in Dragonflight, so I’m glad that lined up because that saves me some work lmao.
(Also just wanted to say that a lot of night elves see azerite as the reason for the Fourth War and, by extension, Teldrassil. They want absolutely nothing to do with it.)
I’m also considering putting a version of the N’Zoth and Azshara story around there, when the sword is removed, since I figure such a big disturbance to Azeroth would be enough to wake up an Old God. But that’s for later down the line and it depends on whether that would clutter the story too much or not. Either way, after whatever’s gonna happen in Dragonflight (or rather, how much of it I decide to keep) and after the sword is fixed, the night elves are gonna stick to their own unless there’s a dire need for them to leave Kalimdor. They’re tired, man. They need time to rebuild, and to heal.
However, I do have concepts for a little Alliance-night elf conflict that could crop up at some point. The Horde may have agreed to leave the night elves alone, but the Alliance are imperialists. And aren’t too happy that they were, in their eyes, betrayed by a long-time ally…
So yeah! That’s my night elf secession AU. It’s extremely self-indulgent and a lot of fun to explore for me. WoW really has not given the night elves a lot of opportunities to be the badass mysterious amazon nation they are in Warcraft III, so I wanted to bring that back while also preserving some of what WoW DID add to their story, because I really do think Teldrassil is such a good jumping-off point for a huge shift in the overall Warcraft narrative... as much as it hurts me and as much as I am genuinely incapable of watching the Warbringers: Sylvanas or Old Soldier cinematics anymore. Night elves have meant a lot to me for a very long time and stories of people going through hell and still coming out okay on the other side are my favorite stories, so I want to tell my own.
I’m also open to more questions about this AU, I have a lot of little things I changed both in regards to things like how magic works and minor lore changes, like how I made Teldrassil at least a couple thousand years old, as opposed to the 15 (or so) years it had existed in canon before it was burned. They only planted it after the Third War. You can check. It’s extremely stupid and everyone ignores that little detail so I will too <3
Anyway, thank you so much for asking, I’ve been dying to share all this and I didn’t realize that until you asked JHNDJSKJ

So I think Bombalurina and Mungojerrie could have a... complicated relationship. Theoretically part of the same micro-group, were in Macavity's Tribe together, Mungojerrie was the only regular link to her sister Demeter that Bombalurina had when Macavity started keeping her (Demeter) sequestered away. But there's a definite strain there. For some amount of time Mungojerrie had much more access to Demeter than Bombalurina did. She juggles feeling grateful for having any insight into how Demeter is and having some way of indirectly communicating with her, and feeling resentment that this random tom with no prior connection to them gets to see and talk to her sister so much more than she does.
On top of that they just clash personality-wise, especially with how they are in Macavity's Tribe.
Mungojerrie has survived his life under Macavity by feigning stupidity and acting the fool to make Macavity and others stronger than him pay him little mind and not see him as a threat. While he plays up an unintelligent and jokey nature, it's in a way where he's kind of "lying low" at the same time. He doesn't cause waves, he doesn't attract attention unless it's to reinforce his facade as a harmless fool.
Bombalurina on the other hand tends to grab attention in all the wrong and dangerous ways. She's outspoken and opinionated, challenges cats (even Macavity himself) who she feels disrespected or wronged by, basically is just always painting a big ol' target on herself. Hates standing down or keeping quiet or downplaying her abilities, and it drives Mungojerrie crazy. Doesn't she know or care that she's not just putting herself in danger, she's putting Demeter in danger? He thought Bombalurina wanted to keep her safe! He really doesn't understand it because he used to only be looking out for himself and when Rumpleteazer came into his life and became someone he wanted to keep safe, if anything he became more careful about lying low and keeping up his harmless facade. (And he also has to actively hide that he's befriended Demeter at all or he wouldn't have such free access to her anymore.) He doesn't have only himself to worry about now.
And once they escape Macavity's Tribe, it also becomes clear what the physical separation took from the sisters. They're still very close, even for siblings, but as they all get to freely interact out in the open Bombalurina starts to have an upsetting realization. Mungojerrie knows her sister better than she does now. Bombalurina missed a whole section of Demeter's life, a section that Mungojerrie was there for. She knows there's things Demeter has shared with Mungojerrie that she hasn't shared with Bombalurina, and it hurts. It hurts to have this cracked bond with her sister. And she knows if there's any blame to give it should be given to Macavity, but there's still that spark of resentment and jealousy within her for Mungojerrie.
(It's different relationship/family dynamics but if anyone has seen the 2005 War of the Worlds movie, the scene where the semi-estranged dad is holding the daughter but when she gets scared she leaves him and goes to her older brother instead? That's the kinda vibe I imagine there being in the early days after the escape from Macavity. Demeter running to Mungojerrie for comfort and safety before Bombalurina and it just hurts Bombalurina.)

Cliff Booth/Ladybug x Tangerine idea
This idea is sorta weird and shoehorned together but it is supposed to be. Afterall, this is a crackship. Now my friend @the-engdyssey and I made a post (see here) about this crack ship and I've been thinking about how to get it to work. Here's what I got:
The time frame on this is a little iffy. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set in the 1969. Bullet train is modern day. Tangerine has a 70s porn stache. It's a little weird to try and combine them all, so instead Tangerine shall keep his glorious stache while sticking near Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's time-frame. The AU will take place some time in the 1970s.
Tumblr media
Ultimately in this AU Cliff Booth is either Ladybug pre-therapy, or is a front for the cover that Ladybug is in. Maybe a mix of both. His past doesn't exactly matter because it is probably all bullshit anyway. So details can be tweaked.
If you have watched once Upon a Time in Hollywood you know Cliff Booth was a war hero. I am not sure if it is ever specified in what branch he served. We know Ladybug is an assasin. Tangerine and Lemon are of course assasins as well.
So how does this connect? Welp I am gonna take my HC that movie!Ladybug was part of the Army- and in this AU he is former Green Beret. When compared to the Twins in the movie Ladybug and Maria always seemed more- well professional. Had the right systems/ resources to run jobs through and to use. So taking that into account I am going to say that Ladybug is either working for the US government, or is apart of some sister corporation that works for it indirectly. In this specific au he would be directly working for the government.
Tumblr media
My mind wanders to the CIA. The CIA likes to take former special forces guys under them to do work for them. This is all based on this guy I occasionally watch that works for the CIA and is former Navy Seal (and I think he has a few buddies from Delta force and other special forces that formerly worked for the CIA). As well as a guy I personally know used to be Navy Seals and former CIA.
There are many deparments of the CIA. One job included in that is Bodyguarding (usually foreign ambassadors or other important figures but shhh it's fine. Let me dream.) But there's also intelligence. So I'm not too sure what department Ladybug would be in but oh well. Cliff Booth is Ladybug's alias. And he's undercover for a few years.
So perhaps Rick Dalton is being invesigated, or hired the CIA, or there's some type of OP that puts Ladybug/ Cliff as Dalton's body guard. Or he is poking around for intelligence.
And the Twins are hired to either gather intelligence or kidnap Dalton. Something of the sort. But they gotta go through Dalton's stuntguy- who is surprisingly hard to kill. Who just so happens to be a CIA operative and an ex-special forces member. Not that they are aware of that. I don't think they're working for the goverment either, but rather taking contracts from the underworld.
Chaos ensues because this is inspired by Bullet Train. Cliff/ Ladybug still has shit luck because it's funny.
There's a lot of swearing and attempted murder.
But Tangerine gets to have some fun (eventually),
Tumblr media
Am I ever gonna write this? Cue Ladybug's 'nope' when he is talking to Channing's character. But maybe it will get some creative juices flowing. If not it's a fun concept.
Anyway this GIF does not really have anything to do with the post (except it being Cliff) but I loved it and wanted to share.

I just saw your ideas for other fandom fics. I will admit I don’t know much about most of the fandoms, but the 2 AtLA fics sound AMAZING!
For the one with Yue and Katara being two halves of the avatar, does that mean they would be shipped? I don’t think I’ve ever even heard of a fic with them shipped…. Or even a fic with a focus more on Yue! Which is a shame, because she is such an interesting character. That sounds so cool! And I love how they are literally two halves of a whole and they were born on the opposite poles. There is so much you could do with that idea! Like, you haven’t even started it and I’m already like 😍😍😍!
As for the Ashen FN one, it sounds like maybe you’re looking at a kind of reverse of the show? With Azusa and Zuko taking Katara and Sokka’s place? But I’m guessing you would focus more on restoring order rather than just defeating one OP nation like in the show. Also, kinda crack question, but if this IS a reverse of the show does that mean Aang will be shipped with Azula?! That’s be… interesting? Idk 😂 but I think it would be such a cool concept!
Idk either way, no matter what fic you work on first (and I mean that as in encompassing all of your fic ideas - even the ones in fandoms I know nothing about 😅), I’m sure your fics will be amazing! Your writing is always top tier. 😊
For the Avatar Yue and Katara idea, it would be more sisterly dynamic than an actual ship between them. At this time, I'd say Yue/Sokka and Katara/Zuko for ships. And Mai/Ty Lee, the sapphic ship that should have been Avatar's first wlw ship.
Yes, it would be a reverse, though not go the same way, with Azula having an agenda to get Aang to join her father and making the world pay for crumbling FN so. And Zuko may follow her lead but will be inclined to follow Iroh's lead with him trying to help guide Aang to world peace and ending the war. As for how it would go, I don't entirely know.
Shipwise with this idea, I don't have anything planned for Aang, I'd probably go with with my headcanon of what I thought would've been best for him when he's older: let him be a ladies man who has multiple partners that allows him to have a lot of children. And he opens up one of the temples and welcomes his children, and any orphans in need to it and start to teach about the Air Nomadic culture and airbending to those who can. And through his efforts and any adults that desire to join and learn, the Air Nomads are gradually rebuilt. Romantically, he could end up in a poly if there are any women (and men) open to it.
Either way, both definitely could be interesting.

Hello!
What a weird time to “officially” join this lovely hellsite. I’ve actually been around for a while but didn’t have an account or the app until just recently (not that anyone cares lmao). Idk what you expect me to post bc idk either.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Anyways, guess I’ll do one of those interest things that no one reads ha, feel free to talk about anything mentioned here with me
-Marvel; grew up with it and holds a special place in my heart even if the new stuff is kinda trash.
-Stony; hate it or love it idc. Honestly, talk about either of these characters and I will be there.
-Peter Parker x MJ; I only like this ship with Tom’s Spider-Man, Tobey’s Spider-Man and MJ ship sucked (mostly bc of MJ)
-Peter x Gwen Stacy; Andrew and Emma are so cute in that role, really brings the ship to life
-Irondad; eat that shit up, can’t get enough
-Harry Potter; absolutely feral for this shit, I could be any fucking mood and could hear someone from across the country mention something Harry Potter related and I perk up instantly
-Wolfstar; it’s such a beautiful tragedy of a ship, I love it
-Jily; hot take, that ship name sucks. But it’s a nice cute slow burn that no one knows a lot about, I love character growth
-Jegulus/Starchaser; Absolutely love this ship, so much angst and/or fluff potential.
-Harry x Ginny; book ship only, movie Ginny has the personality of a wet sock and that’s generous.
-The Golden Trio; I love this dynamic and I feel like people shit on Ron and Hermione so much and really harshly. Their friendship is really sweet.
-The Marauders; If the new Harry Potter show is about them I will die and come back to life in 3 seconds. Love how little is known about their lives which just lets the creativity flowww
-Owl House; Such a cute show, I love the story and the representation. I’m sad it’s getting cut short but its wrapping up nicely.
-MHA/BNHA; the first anime/manga I really got into. I love it, the story is amazing, although the recent chapters have been on crack.
-Tododeku; absolutely adore this ship
-EraserMic; slightly feral for this ship, hard to find fics that center just on the ship though. The angst, the wholesomeness, the fluff, the contrast, ugh so good.
-Dadzawa; Love this, it’s so true lol
-If We were Villains; Ugh, such a good book. Wonderful plot twist and tied together so well.
-TMNT; Literally any of them, took me a while to get into the 2018 one but it really shined once I gave it a chance. 2012 is the special one to me because it was the first one I started watching
-Jonatello; 2012 hit me hard for this one, such potential tbh, April x Donnie in 2012 kinda sucked after a few seasons and I started to dislike April after awhile. Any other April is superior.
-Capril; The OP ship, idk how to feel about it in the 2012 show
-Avatar: The Last Airbender; I got into this late but it lives up to the hype. Trauma, psychological damage, war, and it’s a kids show :D
-SPN; This show is trash and I love it Lmao
I’ll stop here lol, there’s more but this is a lot.
