The journey has just began!

I tried on my first pair of skates in November of 2016... that was the begining of my journey to roller skating.

It all began back in the summer of 2016 which is when I decided to actually learn how to rollerblade. This was after having owned a pair of rollerblades for over 15 years and only having used them a total of about 10 times in that time period. So last summer I tried to go rollerblanding, at the local indoor skate rinks, out once or twice a week. I also had an added incentive, that being my doctor who wanted me to excercise at least three times a week. I actually enjoyed learning to rollerblade so that made it easy to stick to a regular routine.

However, one thing I came to realize was that the vast majority of skaters indoors were quad roller skaters rather than inline skaters. But what struck me even more was that the quad skaters looked like they were having more fun and their moves looked much more fun and funky than did the inline skaters. It is for these reasons I decided to try roller skates.

It took me a couple of sessions to get used to the different feel of roller skates but after that I was hooked!

I have been roller skating on a regular basis since and it has been a blast. Every time I go out to skate there are always new things to learn, people I am meeting, great experiences and also some falls and bruises. I plan on sharing my journey on this blog in the hopes of sharing what I am learning and helping those who also want to learn how to skate.
