My favourite part of these earrings is the rough agate crystal layer that I cut from a bigger piece found in the UK. They really sparkle but somehow I can't get the camera to convey it. There's lots of iridescence going on too with the Roman glass beads and the tiny fiery opals. And the focal - a cut ammonite fossil - one side has a real nice red ammolite sheen. I've used sterling silver to give them a rustic claw prong setting. Late night bench-a-thon getting some makes in. I’ve been procrastinating such a lot this week that I had to force myself to sit down and make something for the shop. My Roman glass collection has expanded and now includes some larger beads to go with the Roman Greyware pottery beads and clay pipe stem beads I upcycled from recent field walk finds. This glass was also upcycled from archaeological sites where excess material is dug up during excavations and turned into beads.
