Small volume rotary evaporator

Small volume rotary evaporator features an evaporator flask with a range from 0.25 L to 2 L that allows processing of very small or limited amount of sample. Extracting red raspberry pulp phenols today. I am ridiculously in love with this rotavapor equipment. Making my life easier!

How to work rotovap?

Rotary evaporator machine is an operation of vacuum distillation using a rotary evaporator. Rotary evaporators are mainly used for continuous distillation of large quantities of volatile solvents under reduced pressure. In particular, the concentration of the extract and the distillation of the receiving liquid during chromatographic separation can separate and purify the reaction product. The basic principle of the rotary evaporator is vacuum distillation, that is, under reduced pressure, when the solvent is distilled, the distillation flask is continuously rotating.

 Structure: The distillation flask can be a pear-shaped or round-bottomed flask with a standard grinding mouth interface, which is connected to a decompression pump through a high-level reflux serpentine condenser, and the other opening of the reflux condenser is connected to a receiving flask with a ground mouth.  When the system is connected to the atmosphere, the distillation flask and the liquid-contacting flask can be removed to transfer the solvent.  How rotavapor works

Traditional Rotary Evaporation: Rotary evaporators on the market handle a wide range of single sample volumes, but can only process 1 sample at a time. For a laboratory with a large sample volume, one rotary evaporator is far from enough, and four, five, or even more instruments are often arranged to operate at the same time, which covers a large area and has limitations in concentration efficiency. The working site of rotary evaporation is noisy and the exhaust gas is seriously polluted. Long-term use will cause both physical and mental harm to the experimenters.

ZZKD rotovap also adopts the traditional vacuum mode of rotary evaporation. It uses water bath heating and circular oscillation to provide heat. The sample solution can be quickly mixed to achieve uniform heat transfer and volatilization, avoiding the problem of bumping. Concentrating under vacuum and decompression environment is not easy to introduce oxygen or impurity interference, and the boiling point of the solution is low at this time, only slight heating can promote volatilization, so that the concentration efficiency can be greatly improved.

The rotavapor is no longer my nemesis.

The biotage is now my nemesis. 

First, it quite literally throws my product in the trash. I HAD TO EVAPORATE DOWN SEVERAL GALLONS OF WASTE BUCKET TO GET MY FUCKING MOLECULE BACK. 

The the next time, when it’s supposed to redeem itself, it gets drunk and sets the UV threshold too low, didn’t throw enough waste in the trash, and spit out contaminated product instead, and tricked me into thinking those were the pure product until I mixed in some ACTUALLY pure product in with them, resulting in 40% loss.

Use the biotage they said. It’ll be 15 minutes they said. It’ll make your life easier they said.

IT TOOK ALL DAY BOTH TIMES AND HAS ONLY SUCCESSFULLY PURIFIED MY PRODUCT 50% OF THE TIME! 

I mean, it does a better job than a manual column but the manual column works 100% of the time.
