MOLE PEOPLE SHATTERSPACE IS SUCH A FUN IDEA <3

In the Grim:

The surface lost it's atmosphere due to shattery shenanigans, and so nothing would grow or survive. The people went from going out in the day to being completely underground, living off mushrooms and stuff. Ruby Rouge - who already had control of many caves and was an explorer - graciously allowed people into her tunnels, in exchange for working for her digging for more treasure. The other main characters, however, are trying to also get everybody new wells and nightgardens, but she's not too fond of them using her tools and tunnels for things that don't produce shiny things (mad with gem doo-la - dread reference). They mine for her now, but all their digging has actually been making the grim unstable-r, because, yknow, it's literally falling through. But she just has to have those precious shiny things. Her lair is the only place with a lot of light, because with only a few candles her treasure reflects it all. Yes it's tamatoa-esque ❤️

If they existed, Nine would have stolen Ruby's crown jewel and she'd be sending her minions to attack.
