Oc highlights, pt. 4: Arya

[Humanoid, main, Towers of Magic]

Arya time :> One of my most important story ocs, this time being one of the protagonists in TOM. A fun fact about her is that originally the protagonist of TOM was supposed to be her now long-gone brother Coelum, but after I created Arya as his sister I ended up liking her a lot more, leading to me changing the story’s protagonist to be her. Coelum actually does still technically exist in TOM, but his role in the story has been changed quite a bit and he is no longer related to Arya.

So, as mentioned before, Arya exists in Towers of Magic, which is my most developed story/universe up to date. On the continent of Pampona, she lives in the small coastal town of Shoregrove with her adoptive mother Perry, her adopted sister Alice, and her caretaker Dengel. Arya has never seen the world outside of Shoregrove nor does she know who her parents are, leading to the girl feeling a sense of uncertainty and boredom about her current place in the world. Arya desperately wishes she could leave Shoregrove and finally be somebody, but is afraid of the consequences that would follow on her family, particulary Perry.

In terms of her personality, Arya is very bold and brash and typically feels a lot more than she thinks. Her impulses often get the best of her, as she is highly reactive and very impatient — other people may sometimes need to hold her down because of this. While she isn’t exactly selfish, she can very much be described as a bit self-absorbed due to the fact that she was raised as an only child by someone who clearly adores her more than anything; sometimes it is abundantly clear that Arya is not aware of how privileged she truly is. She isn’t really a bad person though, as Arya truly always believes she is doing the right thing — she can be a really loyal friend if actually given the chance.

Aromantic and asexual, although seems to be painfully unaware of it.

Arya has some scars on her knees due to an accident that occured when she was a child.

She's a weatherer, which means she has a strong connection to the sky and its elements. This grants her the ability to control electricity.

Her birthday is July 10th, making her a cancer.

Her character was created sometime around mid-2020.

She is of the chaotic good alignment.

Oc highlights pt. 2: Penny

Aand we’re back with another addition to the series! This time with unhinged robots… how I love <3

Penny is a part of my new Scifiverse universe, although her character has actually existed for a couple years now. Originally she was just a one-off character I made based on a song I wrote, but eventually she just sort of started living her own life in my head, leading to her becoming one of my favourite characters I’ve ever created. She is very dear to me <3

In her story, PE0-7 (commonly referred to as Penny) was a model of robot assistants that had to be discontinued due to reports of continuous existential crisises. She was a model specifically created for tasks such as housekeeping and servitude, meant to fulfill the basic needs of just about any household — the main catchphrase associated with her is that she was intended for the usage of the people. And she truly appeared to fulfill that role, as to this day she still remains as one of the most popular AssistBot lines yet!

After a while however, reports from buyers began to flood in about how Penny didn’t seem to fully register the fact that she wasn’t human. When discovering her artificial nature, Penny would go into crisis mode and seemingly not fully comprehend what she was being told — it was as if she was discovering that she wasn’t real. Penny would also reportedly sometimes refuse to do her tasks and form almost humane bonds with people, which should’ve gone against her programming; it would seem that she was capable of human emotion. After this was discovered, the line was discontinued and all Pennys were adviced to be thrown away — nowadays only few remain in the galaxy.

Personality-wise, Penny was about what you would expect from an assistance robot. She was naive, talkative, and very friendly. Some found her cheerful nature obnoxious, but most seemed to appreciate her simplicity.

Here’s some fun facts about her:

She/her.

She can open her faceplates, revealing the mechanisms that make her face function.

Her form can be customized to the owner's liking, though it will cost more - hence why most keep her in her default state.

She has a sort of mannequin-like body, with arms and legs working similarly to doll limbs.

Her hair is not a wig - it's made from this very thin metal wire that stays in shape for very, very long.

She also has customizable personality options, though they're quite hard to adjust and not very popular - most people prefer her friendliness over anything else.

She was created sometime around late 2022 to early 2023.

Oc highlights, pt. 3: Angel ”Dengel” Salazar

[Towers of Magic, Main, Humanoid]

Dengel time… the product of my eleven-year-old selves cooking… created using the never-seen-before idea of a demon and an angel combining. It always feels goofy to say they’re my favourite character I’ve ever created, but it’s true — Dengel means more to me than any of my other characters do. And it’s interesting, as their character isn’t even the protagonist of the story they’re a part of. I guess their swagger is just too crazy.

Story-wise, Dengel is a character in my most developed story project so far, Towers of Magic. They reside in the small coastal town of Shoregrove in an ancient temple that they are also the caretaker of. Alongside Dengel, the temple is inhabited by the eccentric scientist Perry (Dengel’s close friend and employer), and the adopted teenage girls Arya and Alice (Dengel’s daughter figures, though Arya is a bit more receptive to them than Alice).

Personality-wise, Dengel is quite reclusive and seems to constantly be on their guard, leading to an invisible wall between them and the many people they meet — very few have actually managed to properly break down these walls and gain Dengel’s trust, as it seems like something in their past has made them very cautious of the world around them. Due to this, Dengel is often seen as a bit rude and emotionally distant and many people don’t seem to be very fond of them. They also have a weak spot for substances, most notably alcohol, but they try to not let it disrupt their relationships with the other temple residents.

They/them.

Demiromantic pansexual.

Dengel is undead, meaning that they have died once before and came back. This is what gives them their halo and horns.

The nickname 'Dengel' comes from their legal name being Angel and younger Arya mispronouncing it on purpose. It started as a joke, but escalated to the point where Dengel barely reacts to their true name anymore.

They are very musically talented, being able to play the piano and sing quite well. They also write poetry and lyricism.

Their character was created sometime around 2018-2019.
