Rqg 218

Still can't say it's an ending, but for whatever reason I'm writing a lil something after this one specific episode (the denial is bad, my friends)

I think a lot of people might be a little upset with the whole magic disappearing thing, but for me, I felt it was something that needed to happen. There had to be a price to pay for something of such great significance just leaving. The fact that it wasn't their memories or something worse was a relief.

Magic was something integral to their world, something that all of the party relied on in some way. Saving the world and settling right back into life would have probably led to wanderlust setting in or some kind of unsettled feeling in the party. This shift to the left allows for a period of recovery, where all the characters still have duties that they must focus on while still digesting that the world is saved. It allows for a slope to the happily ever after, rather than a sheer drop.

Now that I've finished my mini rant about the ending and why you should appreciate it, let's jump into the actual praise haha!

This show has held me up for the past 2 years (I started listening in Feb 2020, when the world started going to hell) and has never let me down. The acting has always been amazing, the plot has gripped me and forced me to consider moral questions (as all rq shows do!) The camaraderie between the group was amazing to listen to!!

I have laughed till I cried, and cried until I heard the bloopers and started laughing, and overall it has been one hell of a ride. I have accumulated so many little podcast inside jokes that I throw into conversations just so I can laugh to myself (but we respect his craft, losing their marbles, etc) or to find fans irl haha.

I don't know what to say. I don't know how to quantify in words how much this podcast has meant to me. I feel like someone has carved a hole through me now that it's over. But I'm so so happy that I was able to experience it alongside so many others!

Which brings me to my final point - the fans on tumblr. I know we're weird and we made trexel into a sexyman, but you guys are some of the most welcoming fans ever. I have enjoyed making silly little posts with inside jokes and having people reblog them and put their additions in the tags. I know I joined the fandom rather late but even when I was catching up, no one spoilt anything for me, and everyone was just the kindest they could have been. So thank you.

And as a whole to rq and rqg and the entire fandom, thank you for making me feel like I belonged. Thank you for giving me a safe space and for always tagging spoilers and TWs. Thank you for the everything. I'm happy to have been a part of this fandom, and I hope to never stop :)
