I’ve seen so many versions of the tma finale where Jon is a distorted thing with a bunch of eyes floating above the ground but hear me out:

The moment Jon becomes the pupil of the eye, he looks even more like himself than he’s looked in years.

This is my first time relistening to the entire Dover/Channel Crossing, and oh boy has it been a wonderful, painful, bittersweet time.

Seeing Zolf struggle with his faith and his cult hurts now. And I know it gets much worse for him before it gets better, but it does get better for him. He finds another avenue for his faith, one that fits him better. One that allows him to save so many of his friends (and ultimately the world) on his terms. (And seeing the faith Hamid and Sasha put into him by joining him on the crossing).

Seeing Sasha make so many friends is so so wonderful. She’s got that awkward but genuine charm that draws good people in. And she does go on to connect with and help so many people (even though we only see a small part of that).

Seeing Barnes is so nice, and getting to know him as the straight laced commander is fun. All of the interactions with him are tinged with the knowledge that he will come back, for good and for painful. He genuinely wants to be friends with Sasha, and they would have been such good friends I think. But they never meet again. She would’ve loved the Carnes and Barter Barnes and Carter team up.

TMA AU in which Jonathan Sims got himself a car after the promotion. He's not exactly a car person, but that's what people do, he's pretty sure of it. And he can do so much with that car. He can bitch about the parking in central London, he can use it to spy on his assistants, he can name the car, live in it for a while, have it stolen, have it confiscated, have it vandalized by every avatar in Britain. When Jon is on a run, he throws away his license plates and can't find them after his charges are cleared. He loses his driving license too, but that's alright, he can just consult with the Beholding to avoid police. At this point everyone tells Jon to leave the cursed pile of metal somewhere in the woods already, but he can't just abandon his beloved automobile! What do you think he named it? I think Barnabas. I also think the car became sentient and drove away after the apocalypse, as per the laws of the genre. Jon met Basira in one of the domains, asked if she's seen his car and got smacked immediately.
