Qualities that make Mabinogi extraordinary.
Or I just earned my bragging rights.
A year ago.
Total level: 500. Occupation: dual gladius wielder. Goal: finish generation quests.
A week long fighting. Frustration. Countless redos. I earned my Demigod, I earned my Brionac. I felt like I could do anything.
By the end of the week I had gotten to final of G12. I started proud, but I had to leave soulless. It broke me. It wiped out all of my supplies and drained my patience.
I swore to come back once stronger and take my revenge.
Yesterday.
Total level: 998. Occupation: slayer. Goal: revenge.
I had carefully all year brewed HP potions, saved up for Nao soul stones and trained hard. I was ready to come back to the holy grounds of Falias and fight for my life once again.
I experienced a feeling I felt only once before so prominently - when I had just introduced Mabinogi world to my brother. 300 levels ahead I was powerful in comparison.
Mabinogi is a silly game - since it is open class with vast variety of skills, you can't compare any levels or skills objectively. Only the resulting performance. As a result you can actually feel how strong you are.
I felt like I had enough strength to make a significance.
I managed to bring to ground Nuadha and beat up Daols like it was nothing while reminiscing how much pain it used to cause. Soon after that Morrighan joined us.
Legends are not just some stories. You get to live through these legends and witness the advent or fall of worlds. Vindictus story about Tir Na Nog was jawbreaking and so was this fight alongside gods.
I was trained well, even so this fight still proved to be challenging. I had prepared huge supplies, however I had to use only 1 Nao soul stone and 2 stacks of potions. New Morrighan's given powers, which I craved so baldy, came in handy.
Consequences of the main quests are also something I haven't seen much in my gaming experience. Paladin, Demigod, Brionac... Are huge. At the end you get forever a reminder that what you did make a huge difference in Erinn.
After a tough battle Nuadha was finally beaten. Finally! I couldn't believe it. I still can't, as a matter of a fact.
Challenges, that are hard, once accomplished, bring great satisfaction. Mabinogi even in its current nerfed state still holds many great challenges. It used to be hard like this very often. Hard in a good way. I hope Nexon will do something about it very soon.
This certainly was an unforgettable journey.
Since Mabinogi's true endgame is simply unattainable (if you want to have some real life time too) plus the fact that you can be anything you want to be anytime, game has some kind of charm that makes you return to this game over and over again. This has never happened to me. If I loose interest to a game, I know I will never like it again. This, however is something else. A true gem.
